Scout as a novella packed so more punch, it had more development, heat, and freshness both on the action side as well on the relationship and romance side than some novels do. And now we get an extended novel-length of a story for Nadine and Wyatt and five spoons are not nearly enough to rate their story that still felt fresh and enticing and exciting.
This story is an absolutely delightfully ardent, riveting, endearing tale that captivated my mind and heart. I adored Nadine, she is one of those characters you want to be friends with. She has her hurdles, she is not the cookie-cutter romance novel heroine, she is even better: she is like one of us readers! She struggles with her size, she was doing social distancing before it was a thing, yet she has strength, she is smart, she is capable, she is a sweetheart with a caring, generous heart. She is just the kind of relatable, strong, lovable, and able heroine that Janie Crouch writes so well, and those ladies are one of the reasons why I love her books. And I couldn't imagine a better mate to Nadine than Wyatt. Just the fact that they have been penpal's for a year won me over, because while corresponding by writing you get to know the other person on a completely different, deeper level than with casual meetings in busy places while dating. They have a solid, deep foundation to start to build upon and the palpable attraction between them sizzles. Without a fail, I loved every moment of this compelling, high-tempo, gripping tale of fighting for your life and for your future in the mids of intense suspense and ardent romance. The Linear Tactical series is a must-read for romantic suspense readers! ~ Five Spoons!
