Oh, how I enjoyed this story, it was just what I needed and wanted to enjoyably escape for a few hours.
The Guardian Agency stories are some of my favorites because there is the perfect balance between the love story and danger and suspense. They are shorter in length and have rescued me from many reader-slumps over time. Carter Oakes is a smart, kind, and considerate gentleman, who protects and solves problems for a living, and can be tough and rough if the job requires it. And Paige Coker can use all the help offered in the situation she is in. The fact that Paige is in serious trouble was intriguing, and that the detective who was focusing on her was her friend added another level of thrill to the tale. I liked the connection between Paige and Carter, it was natural, it was tangible, and it was believable. They clicked on many different levels, and I truly reveled them two together. The stress is high, the solutions are out of the box, the threat is real, and the danger finds them no matter how well they hide. A thrill ride of a suspense tale mixed with a sweet love story is the perfect read for a cold winter night, it is a riveting, emotional, and delightfully captivating story. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
