The intriguing way the plot was introduced, with small pieces of information at the time, cleverly pulled me into the tale, and took a hold, keeping me up at night until 'the end'. The present danger and threat constantly escalating, while Bloom's story of survival is revealed, gives the tale an intense atmosphere of urgency. The sexual tension between Sam and Bloom add to the pressure, their growing feeling towards each other seems at times more of a hindrance than delight. The story is a clever mix of tragedy, suspense, and romance with the themes tied together seamlessly, all part of the bigger picture. The complex cast of characters are charming, warm, and sincere, they are likable and easy to relate to, to understand and agree with, the force that moves the story forward.
