Hold on to your hearts, folks, this story is going to take it for a ride.
For fifteen years, they had been best friends, pressing the feelings of 'more' under a heavy lock and key. But now, because of a bet, because of a business possibility, they are pretending to be more, and somehow realise, they could be everything. I love the friends to lovers themes in the stories, there's always more into the relationship, when the characters have known each other for years, better than anyone else, and now are becoming even more than that. Chase and Anna have been each other's support pillar since high school. They have gone through so much in life, loss, suffering, and growth. They have always had each other, but never in a physical way. And now, that everything is changing, the chance to lose each other puts them into the biggest pressure and test of their relationship. I love how the author uses the words to paint the picture of the events so clear and vivid, you can see it all unfold in your mind. Chase and Anna have something beautiful and rare in their lives, they have a best friend. In each other. But now those feelings are expanding, getting even deeper, getting to be more, and the whole roll-a-coaster they go through, as they struggle with the change in their relationship, as they learn to know each other in a new way, as they see each other with a different eye, and accept the love they have for each other, just as they are, it is a wild ride without a safety belt. The story is emotional, passionate, and poignant. The love scenes are amorous, and filled with feelings. The road they have to take, to find the courage to face their feelings, and freely admit the love they have for each other, is rocky and turbulent, but also tender, loving, and sweet. ~ Four Spoons
