COVERT ASSIGNMENT
When Blake Michaels's cover as a local cop is blown and a corrupt officer attempts to kill him, he's forced to go on the run. Under his protection is Holly Mathis, also a target for what she may know about her late husband's investigation into corruption on the police force. Blake can't complete his assignment without help from the beautiful widow, but getting close to a woman again is out of the question. Trapped inside the town limits by police barricades, Blake won't surrender the mission until he finds the source of the deadly drug ring that brought him here. But as he circles closer to his target, can he get his man—and save his woman—without sacrificing his own life?
It is exhilarating when you read a book by a new author for you, and you immediately fall in love with their author voice and their style of telling the story.
Mission Undercover's non-stop, explosive, and deadly action kept me on the edge through the tale. The romance and the protagonists' faith in God (Love Inspired novel) are a natural part of the story as it flows off the pages fluently. It was so easy to admire Blake Michaels as the hero. Even with his issues of trusting people, he is a solid man of God, he relays on his faith, he has integrity, dignity, and honesty. The betrayal in his past has put a dent in his armor, yet he is aware of this and trying to work through it. Holly Mathis is a heroine who is brave, fearless, and capable! Losing her husband in the line of duty had made her angry and doubt God, yet at the time of trouble, her heart was leaning on His protectiveness and guidance. In the midsts of the tense suspense and deadly battle against the corrupt town and police force, Blake and Holly have moments of heart to heart conversations where they share their lives struggles and their wrestlings with their faith in God. From the very beginning, I jumped right in the middle of the mayhem and could not put the book down until I reach the end. The story is intense, the action is violent and brutal yet perfectly balanced by the sweet, adorable, sincere feelings growing between Holly and Blake. The camaraderie and loyalty of the Ranchers are admirable, while the doubts of survival stayed in my mind as the twists and turns in the plot kept taking me by surprise. An exciting, energetic, and encouraging tale, highly recommended! ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
