Accidentally In Love
Friends First # 3 By: Laura Drewry Releasing June 16, 2015 Loveswept
Fans of Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery will love Laura Drewry’s warm and humorous new Friends First romance, a sexy romp about a good cop and a bad girl playing hard to get.
Ellie Palmer and cops don’t mix, and getting pulled over by Officer Brett Hale—again—doesn’t help. Neither does being forced to take a safe-driving course with him. Brett’s by-the-book attitude leaves Ellie ice-cold, and his rock-hard body won’t change that. Still, the more time she spends with the guy, the more she finds herself warming up to his unexpected charms. Even though Brett comes off like a boy scout, Ellie has sparked something he wants badly enough to get him to rethink his past mistakes. But when her ex shows up, Brett makes it his mission to keep Ellie safe in the here and now. His gut tells him the guy’s trouble, and Ellie must agree, because she doesn’t complain when Brett pulls her close. To keep her safe, though, he’ll have to choose between breaking her heart . . . and breaking the rules.
This story has it all, great friends, bittersweet romance, suspense, and lots of emotions.
Brett and Ellie are hard not to like. They cracked me up from the get go, with the rather open animosity between them. Ellie just can't drive by the speed limits, and Brett follows the rules to the dot. Thus, Ellie loses her license after too many speeding tickets. Add to that the fact that Ellie's mother shows up at her doorsteps, saying she is leaving her father, Ellie's just about had enough. Until her ex shows up, unexpectedly since Ellie though he was still in prison. When Ellie and Brett start acting as a fake couple, to draw the creepy ex, Kurt, out, things get even more interesting. Since both Brett and Ellie have been harboring a secret attraction towards each other. The things Kurt, the ex, is rather eerie, the way the danger is built up, the stalking is getting more and more personal by stages, is like a nightmare happening to Ellie. I had chills at some of the scenes, the fear and malice presence is so palpable. The support of the friends is solid, they all are willing to do whatever it takes to keep Ellie safe. Brett and Ellie get to know each other well, while acting as a couple to the whole town. They are adorable together, the chemistry, heat, and connection is present from the start, and just building on as the story continues. The humor in the story is fantastic. I laughed out loud, and I don't mean just a burst of laugh, I'm talking about laughing until you can't breath with tears in your eyes. Never has this happen with a book before, and with this story it happened twice. But there are touching, moving scenes as well, that took my breath away. So when you mix a group of great friends, who look out for each other, delightful romance, likable characters, and a touch of thriller you get Accidentally in Love ~ Five Spoons!
Laura Drewry had been scribbling things for years before she decided to seriously sit down and write. After spending eight years in the Canadian north, Laura now lives back home in southwestern British Columbia with her husband, three sons, a turtle named Sheldon, and an extremely energetic German shepherd. She loves old tattered books, good movies, country music, and the New York Yankees.
