ARE THEY IN TOO DEEP?
Ex-Navy SEAL Cabe Moss always comes when called to duty―at all costs. Even though the death of his fiancée nearly destroyed him, Cabe won’t let his past interfere with any work that has to get done. When his latest task pushes him to team up with FBI Agent Amy Murray, a fierce beauty with the undercover skills to match, Cabe must admit that, for the first time in years, he wants to do more than just complete their mission together… Amy was born ready for this assignment, but working side-by-side with the the strong, silent, and frustratingly professional Cabe seems to be the biggest challenge of all. But when the sparks begin to fly―and the stakes rise to dangerous heights―the only thing Amy is left worrying about is how she can resist him. Their lives may be in danger, but their hearts hold the biggest risk of all…
An enjoyable and entertaining storyline with sweet and sexy romance and a multi-agency investigation into human trafficking and money laundering with the Russian mob involved, whom the guys from Eagle run into in a previously in the series.
Cabe Moss is a hero easy to like. He is a strong, capable, considerate, and kind man. He knows what he wants, he has a surprising romantic streak, tenderness, and vulnerability that melts the hearts of the readers. His sorrow over losing his fiancee is touching, how he respects and cherishes Jess' memory is beautifully done. I love the connection Cabe, Six, and Mac has. The way they know each other and get each other, and understand each other, the banter, the teasing, the confrontations, calling each other out when needed, it is one my favorite things in the series. FBI Agent Amy Murray is an independent, tough, and capable woman who can hold her own and kick some arse when needed. She is a true professional, at least in the beginning, until the emotions between her and Cabe takes over the rational thinking. With the strong secondary characters, likable hero and heroine, and a good storyline, I was ready to love the heck out of this story. But it turned out it was more of a liked it a lot, read it through even though struggled in the half point, and ended up finding it entertaining. I'm not sure if the eARC was edited more before the final print, but there were several mistakes in it that broke the flow for me. The point of view and the timeline was jumpy, not formatted to be reader-friendly, but all these issues could have been corrected to the final copy, so not affecting my score of the title. In my opinion, Amy lost a lot of her edge as an agent when she started her relationship with Cabe, there were a couple of times I had to remind myself that she was not civilian helping out with the investigation. Cabe didn't trust her abilities keep herself safe, maybe not because of her actions, but because of what happened to Jess in the past. Yet there was something off balance in the tale right after they got together. Amy and Cabe, after submerging into the lust, were sizzling hot, and the explicit love scenes were plentiful. I really loved the mature and constructive way they dealt with the issues between them. I loved that there was no drama just for the sake of drama, yet there were feels, deep emotions that were palpable, and conversations that were difficult. I'm glad I didn't give up on Deep Cover at the halfway point because the action and tension of the suspense pick up, and the thrill of the chase is riveting towards the end, so much so that I didn't want it to end quite so suddenly. A luscious and delicate love story in a middle of an intense and dangerous investigation lead by a cast of charming characters enthralled and entertained my mind and I'm looking forward to the next installment of the series. ~ Four Spoons
