When Love Happens
Ribbon Ridge # 3 By: Darcy Burke Releasing May 26th, 2015 Avon Impulse
In a town as small as Ribbon Ridge and with a family as large as the Archers, even the best kept secrets don’t stay buried for long...
Tori Archer is married…well, on paper anyway. She hasn’t actually seen her husband since the disastrous morning after their impulsive Vegas wedding. The memories of their intense passion may still make her weak in the knees, but Tori knows their marriage was a mistake. After six months filming abroad, television producer Sean Hennessy wants nothing more than to track down his sexy, captivating wife and get her into bed… fast. So when his boss sends him to Oregon to persuade the famous Archer sextuplets-the former stars of a reality TV show-to do a reunion special, Sean sees the perfect chance to win Tori back. Only, Tori wants nothing to do with him and is determined to push him away. But their attraction is as hot as ever and Sean will do anything to prove their relationship was more than just a fling…because he knows that when real love happens, it changes everything. Review:
This was the first book I have read of the series, and I fell in love with the Archer family. The unique bond they have, the love and support they give to each other, and how they call on any stupidity and apathy from each other. The family is in despair, one of their own, Alex, had killed himself. I think the suicide aspect was dealt well in the book. The different ways the family members dealt with the pain, loss and sorrow was evident.
Tori didn't deal with the loss of her brother that well. She withdrew from feeling anything, submerged in her work. Mostly, she wanted to forget she ever married Sean, planning on asking for divorce, without even trying to make their relationship to work. She was acting out, and even used other people to gain her goal. She is very unlikable through most of the story. She realizes this herself, but still continues to be rather self centered, spoiled and rude. She does come through at the end, but it seemed a bit over the top after her previous behavior. Sean is so solid, he is loyal, kind, understanding, and has more patience than anyone should. He supports his parents financially to give them a better life, he works in an uncomfortable and difficult environment under horrid leadership. But he makes the best of it all. And he loves Tori, would be there for her if she allowed it. The chemistry between them was there, but there was lots of uncertainty, doubt, and angst around it, making it rather realistic, and real. Overall, I felt the story was heartbreaking, the mourning of Alex, and the consequences his death had on the family members was sad. The journey towards healing wasn't easy, especially to Tori and her parents. I liked how the family pulls together, even tighter at the end, and how open armed they accept Sean. Sean with his stellar personality was the star of the story. ~ Three Spoons Meet the author:

Sea Glass Sunrise
The Brides of Blueberry Cove # 1 By: Donna Kauffman Releasing May 26, 2015 Zebra
In seaside Blueberry Cove, Maine, friends are just another word for family, and big-city politics take a backseat to local pride. But the real treasure on these shores is always love…
When D.C. lawyer Hannah McCrae heads home for her brother’s wedding, she’s dragging a lot of baggage along with her—and she doesn’t mean suitcases. Betrayed personally, and humiliated professionally, the last thing she wants is a new man. That’s fine with square-jawed, rugged contractor Calder Blue. He and Hannah may be wildly attracted to one another, but all he wants is to build the town’s hotly contested new yacht club and mend a centuries-old family feud. Yet thanks to resentments old and new, day after day the pair wind up tangled in each other’s business—and maybe soon in each other’s arms. Every bride needs something “blue”… Review:
Small town charm and drama, meddling, loving family, and a love story that took my breath away, those are the ingredients of this lovely summery read.
The small town in Maine has its colorful history, and the founding families, who still battle with the aftermaths of the feuds started long ago. The story is riddled with family history, events that led to the standing the families now have, and the tragedies behind the events. The McCrae siblings have a rare kind of bond, loving, caring, protective, yet they are not shy about ribbing each other, the dry humor and sass amongst them often leads them to laughter and big group hugs. Hannah and Calder have an instant attraction to each other, and I absolutely loved them together. They have so much in common, they fit together well. The humor is contagious, there's so much joy, laughter, fun, heat, passion, caring, and respect between them. I loved how the thought process is expressed, that Calder goes through to figure out his feelings towards Hannah, it was fresh and adorable. Every encounter they have left me smiling, their honesty and openness towards each other is refreshing. The mystery behind the explosion at the boathouse is intriguing, as they walk the steps to figure out the culprit. The tension that comes from the events following of the explosion was well built, and the whole crime/suspense aspect of the story for me was a lovely surprise. The tale is pure entertainment; the big family, the small town dynamics, the delightful love story, all spiked with humor, laughter, and glee, that made me smile ~ Four Spoons Meet the author:

Deal With the Devil
Purgatory # 4 By: Cynthia Eden Releasing June 9, 2015 Hocus Pocus Press
New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Cynthia Eden spins a hot new paranormal Purgatory story with…DEAL WITH THE DEVIL.
Eric Pate is used to making his own rules—as the director of the PARA Unit, he is the boss. Everyone rushes to obey his commands, and no one knows his secrets. No one ever gets too close to him. But then he meets her. Ella Lancaster is tired of being a prisoner. She escaped one hell just to find herself in another, but Eric doesn’t consider her containment with his agents as punishment. He actually thinks it is a form of protection. But Eric is so very wrong. Ella doesn’t need protecting, not for anyone or anything. But when the PARA Unit comes under attack, Ella and Eric both find themselves battling a supernatural beast that they never expected. Forced to join forces, to make a deal, Ella and Eric are soon fighting side-by-side, and their attraction for each other can’t be contained or controlled. Hot. Wild. Consuming. Ella’s deal with her devil is soon taking over her life. And as Eric falls deeper and deeper under the mysterious Ella’s spell, his legendary control begins to crack. The beast that he has kept chained so carefully inside rises to the surface. Unfortunately, when the devil loses his control…there is real hell to pay.
“Have you looked long enough?” he asked. His voice was a deep, dark rumble. Sexy.
She didn’t want to find anything about her jailer to be sexy. This attraction she had to him—it was odd. Unwanted. But…there. Instinctive. Primal. Even her heart was already beating faster, and not just because she thought escape was at hand. Because he was close, and he stirred her. Ella lowered her hand away from the glass. She was going to try logic with him first. She’d plead her case. Perhaps that tactic would work. And perhaps not. “You’ve had plenty of time to look at me,” Ella murmured. “I suppose I thought it was only fair for me to have the same opportunity.” His jaw hardened. Just a small movement, but she saw it and Ella liked that she’d gotten to him. “Did you think I didn’t know? I could feel it when you were close.” She motioned toward the mirror, then toward the video camera mounted near the ceiling. “I think this was all a bit…much, don’t you? I mean, I’m locked in. It’s not as if I can plot some terrible wickedness here.” “You can plot it,” he allowed, “you just can’t carry it out.” Ella took a step closer to him. He offered her his hand. “It’s time we were officially introduced. My name is Eric Pate, and I’m in charge of the FBI’s Para Unit.” She stared at his hand. The Para Unit. There had been whispers about that group for years. Government agents who policed the creatures that went bump in the night. According to the gossip she’d heard, if a supernatural got on the wrong side of the Para Unit, well, that supernatural found his—or her—butt tossed into Purgatory. Is Purgatory real? Ella was very much afraid that it was. “I don’t bite,” Eric murmured. His hand was still offered toward her. “No.” Ella cleared her throat. “I think that’s my deal.” Because she didn’t want to show him her fear, she put her hand in his. Heat. Her breath caught in her throat. And, yes, she still breathed. Her heart still beat, she could still feel pain and pleasure. Despite the tales heard by so many, paranormals were still alive. They could hurt, they could feel…just like humans. Ella had thought that the man before her was cold. Emotionless. After all, a darkness seemed to cling to him like a shroud, but when they touched—fire seemed to ignite in her hand. Her heart beat even faster, nearly racing out of control. Her breasts ached, as if wanting, needing a lover’s touch. And-- She tried to pull away. But his hand tightened around hers. She could feel the strength in that hand. “Is something wrong?” Yes, you’re what’s wrong! The man before her was far from human, no matter what he wanted to pretend. And she should not be reacting to him that way. His scent wasn’t human. It was just slightly…off. Everything about him was, yet she was still feeling that pull between them. Meet the author:

Quinn’s not interested in the new accessories, but he is interested in the woman designing them. Mixing business and pleasure isn’t wise, but that doesn’t stop him from coming up with excuses to spend time with her. He thinks he understands the risk he’s taking when he gets involved with Amelia. But he doesn’t know he’s risking a lot more than his heart. Review:
Turn on the A/C and your fans, cause this story is H.O.T.
But it is not just lust filled sex escape, there is also so much admiration, affection, and tenderness in the relationship between Amelia and Quinn. The love story is described so well, with everything that's part of it, joy, devotion, charm, agony, pain and despair. The O'Brien family has so much warmth and care between them. The siblings are tight, and they take care of each other. And when Quinn's sister, Teagan's, betrayal comes to the light, it hurts even more. Teagan was not easy to like, with her bullying, back-stabbing ways. I hope she will make up for it in the future installments. The jeans business was intriguing, and the company dynamics interesting. The story is well written, it has a lovely flow, and it's hard to put down. It is pure entertainment, laced with humor and sass, with characters who are strong and complex, perfect summer read, that made me want to go shopping for a new pair of jeans ~ Four Spoons & teaspoon on the side Meet the author:

Rules of Seduction
Serve #7 By: Joya Ryan Releasing June 9th, 2015 Entangled Brazen
He'll be the dream and the dirty fantasy...
Through with both her controlling ex and relationships, Ava Webber is determined to explore the spicy and sometimes forbidden appetites of the exclusive BDSM nightclub, Serve. Here, she'll get exactly what she needs...as long as it's from a man she doesn't know. Nolan Hart ensures that Serve's clients get what they want, how they want it. But with one look at the curvy brunette, Nolan knows he’s the man to fulfill her desires. As the anonymous lover, he's Ava’s dirtiest fantasy. Outside of Serve, he's her charming, smartass friend. But Nolan wants more. More than Ava is willing to give. And as long as the blindfold stays on, she'll never discover that the two men she's falling for are one and the same...
“I want to be consumed. In any way he wants to take me. Because the minute I step out of the scene, it’s over and back to the real world.”
It suddenly hurt to breathe. That sounded right up his alley. She wanted to get lost, taken over, but not in the real world. There wasn’t a man alive besides himself he’d trust not to abuse that privilege. Then an idea struck him: Why not me? She wanted what he’d happily give her. In this short time, he’d already gotten a good sense for her. He could read her body, expressions, and cues. He could take things in whatever direction the moment led. It was a dangerous notion, but he didn’t trust anyone else to have her. He’d make sure she got what she wanted without someone going too far or hurting her. And she was offering everything. With the only catch of not seeing the man she was with. That was her one hard limit, and he could give that to her. Because if there was one thing he understood, it was hard limits. He’d spent years wrapped up in women, moving from each one to the next in a quest to feel…anything. And every time, he found the threat of the future—unpredictable, unknowable—too powerful to ignore. How could he protect anyone longer than one scene at a time? So he’d resigned himself to doing just that. No relationships. No chance for love. But at least he could guarantee each woman’s safety by assuring she was paired with the perfect partner. But to have someone put themselves in his hands—literally. To trust their fate to him for more than a single scene. It sounded better than good and was the one thing he’d yearned for but seen no way to experience. Anyone who wanted him for more than one scene wanted him for a relationship, and he couldn’t have that. He hadn’t found “the one,” and he never would. His friends were being taken down one by one with emotional monogamy, but it wasn’t in the cards for him. This woman, though? There was a tiny gleam of something broken behind her eyes. Something she was outrunning. He could relate. She called to him in a way he couldn’t ignore. She wanted a tightly controlled scene, and because the fantasy would never escape into the real world, he could fulfill her desires and know that as long as she was with him, he would keep her safe. “You’d let him have you. However he wanted. So long as his identity remained secret?” He had to clarify this just one more time to be sure she knew what she was asking for. Because he couldn’t turn her away, but he couldn’t turn her over to another, either. “Yes,” she said. “I’ll leave it to him, and to you, to read me.” Her green eyes met his. “I trust you to pair me with the man I need.” He nodded. Ava Webber had just sealed her own fate, and maybe even his own. “Tomorrow night,” he said. “You’ll have the man you want.” Meet the author:

After Midnight and Cries in the Night
Denver Heroes # 1 & 2 By: Kathy Clark Re-issued June 9, 2015 Loveswept
After Midnight: Denver Heroes # 1
Perfect for fans of Nora Roberts and Karen Robards, Kathy Clark’s suspenseful, seductive Denver Heroes series kicks off as a dedicated cop and a beautiful actress get wrapped up in a world of danger and desire. Aside from the reporter riding along in the passenger seat of his cruiser, it’s a typical Saturday night on the job for Sam Morgan of the Denver Police Department. Then shots ring out, and a routine stop involving a pimp and a hooker spirals into senseless violence. Now Sam is lying in a hospital bed, haunted by fleeting memories of the stunning blonde who saved his life—and then just disappeared. Kate McKinney was hired to play a prostitute on a reality-TV show, not stand around as actual bullets start flying. Unable to shake the feeling that trouble is stalking her, Kate turns to the only man she can trust: the wounded cop whose blue eyes send chills through her body. He doesn’t believe she was just playing a role, but the predator hiding in the shadows is all too real—and, as Sam and Kate edge closer to the truth, so is the heat that ignites between them. Review:
Cruel and bloody crimes, crazy stalker after the heroine, and budding, passionate romance all mixed with a bit of humor, and you have good entertainment in your hands.
The tone of the story is dark and dangerous, the threat towards Kate is constantly present, the attacks escalating in their nature. The attraction and connection between Sam and Kate seem fragile, as Kate's life has been turned upside down, and everything is slipping from her hands. Without help from Sam, she would have to give up, and that puts her on defense, her self esteem frail at the moment. The feelings between them grow and deepen, the fervor of passion sweeping them away. I loved the corny, cliché pick up lines Sam was using constantly. He loves to fix things, take care of people, and protect them. The relationship between him and Kate is fun, flirty, sexy, and joyful, when not being in danger to their lives. The unity of the brothers, closeness, and support they gave each other was admirable, and attractive. The funeral for Larry, a fellow police officer was so touching I was in tears, what a beautiful tribute for all who have lost their lives in a line of duty. Even though the suspense side of the story was predictable for me, I enjoyed the investigation process, as Sam is working to find out who is behind it all. Also the developing romance was fun and lively. ~ Three Spoons
Cries in the Night: Denver Heroes # 2
Fans of Nora Roberts and Karen Robards will love this pulse-pounding novel of romantic suspense, as a red-hot firefighter reaches out to save a courageous beauty from the terrors of the night. As a victim’s advocate for the Denver Police Department, Julie Lawrence is always on call for survivors of abuse, fighting for the justice she never got for herself. It’s a high-risk job that makes a lot of enemies—one of whom seems to be now targeting Julie. But teaming up with firefighter and local hero Rusty Wilson sparks a different kind of danger. As Julie surrenders to intoxicating passion, she finds herself breaking her own rules, caring about Rusty in a way she thought she’d sworn off forever. When a domestic incident escalates into a deadly hostage crisis, Rusty is willing to risk everything to protect those who really need his help—like Julie, the breath of fresh air who fills his days with purpose and his nights with pleasure. He just hopes he’s not too late to stop a chillingly orchestrated act of payback that puts the woman he loves at the mercy of a madman’s rage. Review:
What an amazing and moving story, mixed with danger, suspense, love, passion and tenderness.
The way the work of both firefighters and the victim's advocate is described is real, raw, and lifelike. There are many scenes from the work they do, the reality of the daily life they go through, the stress, trials, and triumphs so clearly stated. There are some violent scenes, that made my stomach turn with the brutality and cruelty. The creepy, fearful moments Julie's feeling, with the stalker after her, are palpable, and constantly present. Still the main focus of the story is the tender connection, attraction, and friendship forming between Julie and Rusty. Slowly but surely Rusty is changing his playboy ways and his love-them-and-leave-them reputation, and at the same time Julie is coming alive again, with feelings of attraction, interest, and allure towards Rusty. The more time they spend together, deeper their feelings for each other grow, the relationship changing, the affection, desire, and devotion evident. This story kept me up late into the night, it is captivating, fascinating, and yet chilling at the same time with the dangerous events the characters go through. While the romance of the story made me swoon and sigh, the other aspects of the tale made me think, and ponder with the eye opening way abusive relationships are described. A fierce, intense, and complex, memorable story ~ Five Spoons Meet the author:

Trey Kelly has it all. Eldest son of Boots Kelly, Trey runs the Kelly ranch, and Trey’s heart is with his “babies”, Kelly’s Champs, the World Champion cutting horses he breeds and sells. Women love Trey and he loves women, but he’s never met the one he wanted for keeps. Until… Reclusive Ariana Wright‘s lavender farm sits next door to the Kelly spread. Ariana is a smart, ambitious chemist and after the car accident that left her scarred, the success of her new line of lavender-based beauty products is all Ariana is interested in. Convincing Ariana to take a chance on love is a task that takes all of Trey’s cowboy determination. But can Ariana let go of the wounds of the past and give herself more than one night with the cowboy?
What a handsome bunch of good looking brothers! And I really liked how well they get along, even though it was a surprise to all of them, the half the brothers even existed. They accepted the will and its stipulations without too much angst and drama, and make the best of the situation at hand, and that's attractive!
Also, Trey's attitude with Ariana is delightful. They compete for the same piece of land, but they are friendly, kind, and accepting of each other, listen to each other, and actually hear and see what the other one is saying, trying to, again, make the best of the situation, and finding solutions when things don't go as planned. I understood Ariana's hesitation to be around people, especially after her ex-fiance's attitude and reaction to her scars. But, like it was pointed out to her, the scars don't define her. She was making decisions only based on them, and I was so happy to see, she saw the light and got over it as soon as she did. This series is proving to be a fun and entertaining, perfect summer reading on a beach chair, so one click now to get it, and head out in the sun to enjoy the hot cowboy brothers finding their happy ever after ~ Four Spoons

Magdalena makes Jake feel and want things he hasn’t for far too long, but there’s more to her than meets the eye. Can Jake solve the mystery that is Magdalena and win her heart?
This wedding novella from Marietta, Montana made me smile all the way through. It is so heartwarming, full of joy and wonder of life.
The instant attraction, chemistry, connection Jake has with Magdalena is steaming hot, yet at the same time tender and rather fragile. The fact that this famous country star is so down to earth, nice, and respectful is a true delight. His admiration of Magdalena, the way he is patient with her, willing to wait for her, and letting her take the time she needs is so attractive. And when Magdalena opens her heart and tells him her secret, about her past, the understanding and protectiveness from Jake melted my heart. Not to mention the ice cream addiction... Take a blanket, go out in the sun and melt away with this wedding novella, that is celebrating the bliss of falling in love ~ Five Spoons
Critically acclaimed New York Times bestselling author J. T. Ellison delivers another riveting novel featuring the incomparable Dr. Samantha Owens
Waking to sirens in the night is hardly unusual for Samantha Owens. No longer a medical examiner, she doesn't lose sleep over them, but a routine police investigation in her neighborhood has her curious. When her homicide detective friend, Darren Fletcher, invites her to look over the evidence, she jumps at the chance and immediately realizes the crime scene has been staged. What seems to be a clear case of murder/suicide—a crime of passion—is anything but. The discovery of toxic substances in hidden vials indicates that something much more sinister is at play… As Fletch and Sam try to understand what and who they are dealing with, they are summoned to a meeting at the State Department. High-level officials are interested in what they know and seem to be keeping secrets of their own. It's up to Sam and Fletch to uncover what lies behind the deception as the threat of bioterrorism is exposed, and her boyfriend, Xander Whitfield, may be in the line of fire. Unsure who to trust, Sam and Fletch find themselves up against very powerful people at every stage in the investigation. No one is who they appear to be and with every minute that passes, the danger escalates. It's Sam's most complex case yet and the terrifying reality is beyond anything she could have imagined. Review
The prologue of the story gives a very creepy picture of a stalker, possible serial killer, hunting for a prey. But this book turns out to be about something completely different.
Several different crimes and threats to life are happening at the same time, hunt for a serial killer, what seems to be a domestic murder suicide, and protecting a high profile CEO. The characters are split between different scenes, and the stress, fear, and dread are palpable. The more evidence and information they find, the more anxiety and concern is on their minds. Because nothing is what it seems to be, no one is to be trusted, as the cases and dead bodies start turn out in every corner, and somehow they all are linked to each other. The story is gripping and riveting. The characters are smart, capable, professionals, with their own demons to be battled with, and determined to overcome them, and find the culprits. Terrifying bio terror is threatening the continent, and the pyramid scheme seems to be going high up in many different government agencies. There's a lot of characters in the series, whose lives are followed, even though the story focuses on the crimes committed. This isn't a romantic suspense, but a terrifying murder mystery, with terrorists on the run. The story ends in a cliffhanger, as there still is a crime Dr Owens and her friends didn't solve in this book. The story is very wordy, and at times I felt I lost the focus and the intensity of the story because of it. Other than that, truly enjoyable, yet horrifying, jitters bringing crime novel ~ Four Spoons
Wedding fever has hit the little town of Marietta...
Soap opera star Nancy Parsons is madly in love with Hollywood’s favorite leading man, and they’re getting married on her parents’ stunning horse ranch just outside Marietta, Montana. Actors, athletes, and politicians will be there to watch Hollywood’s most extravagant couple say I do. There’s just one problem. The bride’s childhood friend Wyatt Wilder knows Nancy’s making the biggest mistake of her life. Sure, Jared’s got looks, money, fame, and—it seems—Nancy’s heart. But when her bridesmaids hire him to lead them on a girls’-only adventure, Wyatt has two nights in the wilderness along the Yellowstone River to show her what a real man looks and acts like. A rugged, tough, loving man. But will he be able to do it before she says “I do” to the wrong man?
What a grand finale for the series, I am still gasping for a breath.. wow. Through the series, there are glimpses of this celebrity wedding, and now we finally have the story, and it is nothing like I expected, oh, it is so much more.
First, what a respectable way, and tone, the author has written about an abusive relationship. The way it is described escalating incident after incident. The control and jealousy, the checking up on her every moment and move, and slowly taking over her life in every aspect, was eye opening and chilling. Wyatt and Nancy have so much history, after all, they basically grew up together. As they reflect and share the childhood memories, there is so much pain, hurt, and shame, but also pride, respect, comfort and joy. Their journey has not been an easy one, the things Nancy has gone through, my respect towards her grew with every page. Wyatt has such a big heart, he is protective, kind, affectionate, wants to fix things. Oh, he comes off at first as a grumpy and surly, but that is just the protective shell in him. This story just took my breath away, and captured my mind. I read it at one sitting, and wanted it to just go on. Wyatt and Nancy are so perfect for each other, not perfect people, but they fit so well together. They listen to each other, support each other, through some really tough times, and are always willing to help each other where needed. The story is on the edge, with the relationship with Jared, the consequences of ending it, and unforgettable wilderness trip in the gorgeous scenery of the Yellowstone, with the childhood memories and experiences, and the relationship with Wyatt, all together it makes a wonderful, heartbreaking love story, that tops, and finishes, the lovely wedding series in Marietta ~ Five Spoons

Shattered Past # 3 By: Cecy Robson Releasing May 19, 2015 Loveswept
She bears the scars of the past. He blames himself for things he can’t control. Their defenses are up, but in Cecy Robson’s latest Shattered Past novel—perfect for fans of Monica Murphy and J. Lynn—true love lands a knockout punch.
Sofia Tres Santos remembers a time before her life went sour, before her innocence was ripped away, before she began punishing herself with risky behaviors and unworthy men. Now, at twenty, she just hopes she’s ready to rebuild some of what she lost. One way or another, it always comes back to her childhood friend and longtime crush, Killian O’Brien. As strong as Killian is, Sofia has always been his one weakness. He knows Sofia has suffered and wants to ensure she’s never hurt again—not like before, and definitely not under his watch. When Sofia agrees to work at his mixed martial arts gym, Killian seizes the opportunity to help and protect the sweet girl he’s always cared for. And yet, as he trains Sofia to defend herself using his hard-hitting MMA techniques, he’s drawn to the vulnerable beauty in ways he never expected. As Sofia grows stronger, she also grows brave enough to open herself up to love. And along the way, she challenges everything Killian believes to be true, showing him that no matter how much he dominates in the ring, the real battle is fought in the heart.
Killian poked his head into the office one afternoon. “One of the boys is going for a coffee run. You want a latte or whatever that shit’s called?”
I giggled. Killian knew only one type of coffee: black. And even that he didn’t drink. “No, I’m good.” “How about lunch?” He gave me a one-shoulder shrug when I raised my brows. “I ordered you a steak from Geno’s in case you were hungry. It should be here soon.” A cheesesteak from Geno’s? Killer yum. “I’d love one. Thank you.” “I told them no peppers.” He smiled. “You never liked peppers, right?” He remembered. “No. Not on steaks.” I reached for my money. “Let me give you a few bills.” “Don’t. I got it.” I watched him leave in time to hear his sister, Erin, better known as Wren, enter the gym. I hadn’t seen her since the winter, but I heard her thick Philly accent loud and clear. “Hey, Kill. Did you order cheese fries? I’m starvin’.” “You just got here!” Kill called from the front. “That don’t mean I ain’t starvin’.” She strolled in, tossing her gym bag on the empty chair in front of me. “Hey, Sofe. How’s it going, kid?” “I’m all right. You?” “Shitty. I think I’m getting my period.” Her two braids hung like thick black rope against her breasts. She rummaged through her bag and stood with a huff when she didn’t find what she was looking for. “Hey, you got any tampons on you?” I snagged my bag from the floor. “I’m not sure, let me look.” “Thanks. This womanly shit blows, you know? But I suppose if it’s all a part of me squeezing out a few puppies one day, it’s worth it, right?” “Mmm.” I couldn’t squelch my smile. I liked Wren. While “dainty” and “girlie” would be the last words I’d use to describe her, she’d always been kind in spite of her tough-girl persona. As the only girl in a household of six boys, she hated pink, hated dolls, and hated lip gloss. The only things she liked were cars and kicking ass. I wondered if she realized how stunning she was. Traffic seemed to stop when she strutted down the street, but she never seemed to notice. Wren was just Wren. It was one of her many qualities that made her so endearing. I passed her what I had. “Thanks, Sofe.” She jerked her chin. “So Finn tells me you’re doing Kill.” I think my jaw fell somewhere near my feet. “N-no. I’m not, I swear.” She shrugged and tucked the tampon into the strap of her sports bra. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. He’s a good kid—like you, you know?” Help me, Jesus. “H-how’s it going down at the auto dealer?” “Oh, it’s awesome. Sold more F-150s last week than those fucktard pricks I work with.” “Yeah?” “Totally. You lookin’ for new wheels? I can get you a sweet deal. All last year’s models are going on sale in two weeks.” She held up two fingers for emphasis. “Two. Time’s tickin’, Sofe.” “Ah, no. I can’t afford that now, but thanks.” “All right.” She pointed at me. “You change your mind, you tell me. I watch out for those from the old neighborhood.” “Thank you.” Wren cocked her head as she took in the floral sundress I was wearing. She wore tight, tiny shorts that showed off her abs and long, muscular legs. The only skin I exposed was on my arms, face, and ankles. “You look real nice, Sofi. Too nice. You sure you’re not banging my brother?” I buried my face in my hand. “Yes. I’m sure.” “’Cause Finn said—and granted Finnie tends to exaggerate the truth—that Kill was all, like, into you. Then again, he has been since even before he got pubes.” If Wren was trying to offer me a compliment it didn’t feel like one. “We’re not having sex,” I assured her. I squirmed when she continued to watch me. “So, what are you up to?” “Teaching kickboxing and self-defense to a bunch of stay-at-home moms. Pissed me off, though, one came in all big and pregnant. I was like, yo, you can’t be coming in here all big and pregnant. You know that crazy-ass bitch with her crazy-ass hormones accused me of discriminatin’ against her?” “Seriously?” “Totally. And you know what happened?” I shook my head. “She broke her water.” Wren hooked a thumb behind her. “Right there on the mat next to the Octagon. Killian was all pissed and made me clean it up, can you believe that shit?” I blinked back at her. “Ah, no.” “Swear to God. Almost threw up doin’ it, too.” Finn knocked on the door. “Wren. Your class is ready.” He frowned at her shoulder. “Why the hell do you have a tampon tucked in you bra?” “I think I’m getting my monthly.” “Oh.” She tossed the tampon in her bag and headed out. At five feet eight she was just two inches shorter than Finn. Both had been the runts of the O’Brien clan. She clapped her hands together as a group of women gathered along the wall where a row of heavy bags were lined up. “Hey, listen up, ladies. Youz were all pathetic last time. Don’t be pathetic. It don’t pay to be pathetic when some asshole with a knife comes after you—” A little boy about six ran out from nowhere, jetting in circles around Wren. She grabbed him by the collar of his T-shirt. “Hey. You see me talkin’ here?” The kid nodded. “You see me teaching a class?” He nodded again. “Then what the hell are you doing?” The kid blinked up at her. “I got ADHD,” he answered. “No one here gives a shit, kid.” She glanced up. “Who does this kid belong to?” A woman in very unforgiving spandex tossed her bag against the wall and kicked off her sneakers. “Sorry, Wren. My ma couldn’t take him so I had to bring him to class. Sauron, get your ass over here.” The kid resumed his circle sprints around Wren the minute she released him. “Sauron?” Wren asked. “You seriously named your kid Sauron, Gloria? Do you wonder why he’s fucked up?” Gloria threw up her hands. “Don’t get me started. It was my ex’s idea. Sauron! Get over here before I take away your iPad!” Wren rolled her eyes. “Christ,” she spat. “Okay, ladies, twenty kicks—ten each leg—let’s go. Sauron, you grab a bag, too.” Sauron pointed to himself. “Me?” “Yeah. With a name like you got you’re gonna get your ass kicked. Might as well learn to defend yourself. Let’s go, ladies, come on!” Meet the author

Secret Invitation, Part 1 By: Devon Hart Releasing June 3, 2015 Soul Mate Publishing
Nothing exciting happens to someone like me. I live between the lines, only dreaming about breaking the rules. My chance at love disappeared the night I left home to escape my old life.
Eight years later, I never expected that “old life” to resurface in my bookstore. Foster Wagner is the type of man most women would crawl through fire or broken glass to possess. And judging by the way he’s staring, that danger goes both ways. I’m in trouble. Note: Part Two will be released within the next few weeks.
OH my God. Foster is standing inside my store. The bastard just bought the most expensive item I have. What’s he doing here? Why didn’t I say something? Coward. That’s what I am. A total loser for not exerting myself. All those nights I spent staring at his photo—dreaming about him—wondering what it would be like to see him again. Hear his voice. And that face…
Well, I can’t let Katie see me falling apart. I’ve had eight years to get over that arrogant jock. I moved on a long time ago, right? Finished college and opened my store. And I have a bright future. After all, who would turn down a chance to marry a man their parents picked out? I suck in a breath and open the door to my office, putting on my best I-don’t-give-a-shit smile. “You’re still reading about sex clubs?” I’m surprised to find my best friend planted in my chair. “I have a stack of receipts to scan.” Katie looks up. “Actually, I discovered something even more intriguing. Have you ever heard of sugaring?” “No.” “Apparently it’s a newer spin on an old concept sweeping the United States. Young hot women seeking older, wealthy men.” She grins. I hope she’s being sarcastic. “Mistresses?” She nods. “Companions is the politically correct term now.” “Oh,” I say, wondering why different labels convince people things are less diabolical then they truly are. “Sex for money.” “In some cases. Maybe you should see if a sugar daddy can take care of that virgin problem.” “I don’t need financial assistance,” I remind her. “I just want a night of mind-blowing sex, remember?” “I’m glad to hear that,” she says. “What?” “I have a confession.” Katie stands up, looking guilty. About what exactly, I’m afraid to ask. “Remember what I said about that college thing some of our sisters getting involved with at that club?” “Not you?” “Almost.” I let out a sigh of relief. “And?” “I’ve maintained friendships with some of the people who are still active members. I wanted to help, Erin. I can’t live with the idea of Thomas being your first. I know how much you hate him. So I called in a favor and had that invitation sent to your house.” I gape at her, completely caught off guard. I guess everyone harbors secrets. “Why didn’t you just say so?” She smiles. “I wanted to make sure you made an informed decision without any influence from me. I want you to own this opportunity, to be in control.” “I’m a virgin, remember? What do I know?” Katie laughs. “Technically yes, but you’ve done things, girlfriend.” I don’t know whether to take it as a compliment or insult. But Katie doesn’t do anything half-ass, she’s gregarious. “Yes.” With Foster. But I don’t want to discuss this right now. Not with him only feet away. I need to think, alone. “There’s a new order of books in the storage room that need tags. Think you can handle it?” “Erin?” Mary is back. “Is everything okay?” “Mr. Wagner is gone, but . . .” “What?” I stand. “Did his credit card get denied?” “No.” She shakes her head. “He told me he doesn’t like Poe and only bought the books to meet you.” Katie clicks her tongue. “I think he was flirting with you.” “No, he was serious.” “Do you remember his full name?” I ask. “How could I forget?” She’s practically swooning. “Foster Everett Wagner.” “The Foster Wagner?” As if I need confirmation. Eight years has only blessed him with more ruggedly handsome features and a body most women would crawl through fire or broken glass to possess. “Bastard.”
One night…and a whole lotta trouble!
When it comes to men, Ivy Rutherford never loses her cool. Ever. Then she meets wealthy, green-eyed cowboy C.J. Bartasavich, and desire burns out of control. Yeehaw. So for one night, Ivy will indulge in a passion neither of them will forget…and walk away without a backward glance. Except now Ivy's pregnant. And even worse, C.J. has come to her hometown of Shady Grove determined to get to know her and be part of their baby's life—even if she's convinced their attraction is purely physical. Because Ivy can't let herself rely on a sexy cowboy…or worse yet, fall in love with one.
The author has a really fun, humorists, realistic way to write about life, and difficult issues. This story made me laugh out loud, tear up, feel frustrated, and sigh.
When Ivy and CJ find out they are going to have a baby together after one very hot night together, both of them make lots of mistakes, mistakes in how they tackle the situation, reactions to the news, reactions to the other person's reaction... It is like a snowball effect that starts to roll down the hill. Even though they grew up in very different kind of environments, there are similarities to the way their mothers were. But both CJ and Ivy are such control freaks, people who are afraid trust anyone, and both of them afraid, and determined not to, be like their parents, the mistakes, misunderstandings, and conflicts pile up. Also, there's a sub-plot of young Gracie and Luke, both of the plots deal with trust and second chances, expectations from others mirroring one's own failures and fears, how hard it is to have faith in the feelings, hope in the relationships. The stories are touching, and I admit, a bit heartbreaking, with the reality of the fact, how little people do trust each other, why relationships are so hard, and why it is so scary to open up to people, let them in to be part of your life. I love this story, it is the first of the series I have read, but certainly will keep an eye for the future installments of the series, since there were several questions I wanted answers to, events I wanted to witness, and most of all, the rambunctious, dysfunctional family I want to learn more about ~ Five Spoons!

That even Rafe and the remote village of Valdez, Alaska can’t protect her forever… Review
There's so much going on with the story, there's never a dull moment! I pretty much inhaled the book at once after I started reading it. The little town, Valdez, Alaska is charming in a rugged way, the people pulling together and supporting each other. The murder of one of their own devastates the whole town, and they are determined to find the person responsible for the murder.
Rafe, the oldest brother of the bunch, is a true alpha: fiercely protective, supportive, loyal, stubborn, a bit bossy, and lot of hot and handsome. Liv is trying to keep a low profile, to hide the secrets she is keeping, but the murder in town brings back old memories, making her want the justice to be served. Together they are burning hot, the attraction tangible, something neither of them can't hide or deny. Their teamwork is seamless, the trust slowly but surely building in between them, feelings getting deeper as they get to know each other. With Scott's murder, Liv's secrets, several romances developing, possible terrorist in town, and attack against Liv, the different plots tangle together, keeps the story moving, the action fast and constant. With addition of strong, capable, adept, and complex characters, the story is just what great romantic suspense is all about ~ Five Spoons Meet the author
