Cammie Laroux is back in Alabama---again.
Dragged back to her small town to help her mother recover from surgery while rescuing the family event planning business should be a cinch. Even for a disgraced television chef, right? Wrong. Among the many secrets Cammie's family’s been hiding is the fact that their historic home is falling down. Oh, and the man hired to restore the house, Grey Harrison, is the same high school and college love of her life who thrashed her heart and dreams ten years ago. Yeah, that guy. Grey, a widower with a young daughter, has never stopped loving Cammie, and when they are face to face once again, the chemistry is off the charts. Cammie may be in full-blown denial, but letting go is no longer in Grey’s vocabulary, even when winning Cammie’s forgiveness and renovating their love may seem like an impossible build even for a master architect and carpenter. As Cammie finds herself forgetting all the reasons she can’t trust Grey or love again, he finds himself remembering all the reasons he wants her to stay with him in Alabama… forever.
This story is full of Southern charm and big family love and craziness.
Cammie is dealing with a lot stress in her life right now, mom's surgery, disaster with her career, coming home to the town where she left from with embarrassment and a broken heart. And the first thing she has to face when back in Alabama, is her ex, Grey, the one who shattered her life ten years ago. Also, it seems that Cammie's mom has her share of secrets, that all come into the life that one autumn in Alabama. Cammie and Grey still have feelings for each other, that is obvious from the first meeting. But there's a lot of betrayed feelings, hurt, pain and brokenness between them. Grey's daughter, Sammie, is fragile from her mother's death, and life. So the work that needs to be done is not only between Grey and Cammie, but also with Sammie. And that journey is not easy, forgiveness doesn't come lightly, and forgetting the past is nearly impossible. But they work on it, to make it possible to live with. I liked the Southern slow way of life, I always have. The family, with all the insanity, fun, ribbing, and hugs. The relationship between Grey and Cammie has some cheating issues, ten years ago, as well as now, since Cammie is engaged to another man when she arrives in Alabama, and starts to rebuild her relationship with Grey, and keeps it a secret to her fiance. I liked the author's voice, the way she tells the story, even though the story does move along slowly, in true Southern tradition. The cooking, event planning and running was intriguing to me, of course. The characters felt a bit one dimensional, more depth and insight into them would have been great. Also, even though there was a connection between Grey and Cammie, for me, the chemistry between them was only lukewarm. And after all the drama with Sammie in the story, I missed seeing how Cammie and Sammie build upon the fragile relationship they had. Overall, it is a warm story of second changes, small town living down south, and family love ~ Three Spoons

Pursued By The Rogue is the first of a four book multi-author series, based around four women who went to boarding school together, and an old Irish pub in Brooklyn called Sully's. Each story riffs loosely off a fairy tale. The stories are tightly connected and it's best to read the series consecutively.
A no-strings affair between two dedicated professionals? It should have been the perfect solution. Ugly duckling Dawn Turner doesn’t do relationships. She has her reasons and they’re good ones. But she can’t resist the magic in Finbar Sullivan’s touch, so she negotiates the next best thing with him. Scorchingly perfect, utterly casual sex. World class musician Finnbar Sullivan always pushes the limits to get what he wants, and he wants Dawn. All of her. Love, commitment and a future together. So he reneges on the deal and composes a new one. So what’s stopping her? And will Finn’s latest offer be enough to change Dawn’s mind?
There's so much story and emotion in this novella, that is heartfelt, and beautiful.
Dawn has felt rejected and an outsider most of her life. She felt she was abandoned by her parents when they send her to the States to go to school. She had a moment in her teenage years, that she felt beautiful, adored, and wanted, with a dreadful consequences, that broke her heart. Now, with a second change to feel cherished, she started a hot fling with Finn, no strings, no future, just here and now, for a moment. But there's so much sorrow, pain, and fear Dawn carries in her. The solid, caring, good man that Finn is, will pull the strings of her heart and soul, and make her open up for the first time with her loved ones. And makes Dawn to understand that she does not need to go through life alone anymore. There are many beautiful, captivating scenes in the story, that goes deep into the soul, sorrow and depth of the Irish mindset. Its allure and charm in the endless love, commitment, and support of the inner circle of friends and family, the delicate way Finn processes his feelings through exquisite music, and the growth and healing Dawn has to deal with. The new series, fairy tales from New York, sets off in a noteworthy way in this emotional, poignant, and engaging story. ~ Five Spoons
Holiday romance on the menu?
Passionate chef Rafe Mancini is renowned for his food—and his temper! No one meets his exacting standards, until stand-in maître d' Daniella Tate breathes new life into his restaurant, and Rafe… Daniella is only visiting the picturesque Tuscan village of Calanetti, but with Rafe she finds the sense of belonging she's always craved. Clutching her ticket home, Daniella must make a decision…return to her old, safe life or stay as Rafe's bride!
I loved the Italian, Tuscan, backdrop of this story. It reminded me of the movie Under The Tuscan Sun, a feel good entertainment that makes you smile. The story is clean, there's love scenes, or bad language.
The feeling of belonging, destiny, and home Daniella has in the Mancini's is heartfelt. She fits well in the restaurant world, as well as with Rafe, they seems to be like the two halves of the whole. Rafe's temperament, that he is famous for, calms down when around her. She feels more confident around him. The goals and future plans they have are the opposite, coming from the place of hurt, disappointment from their past. In the midst of the conflict, they have, I appreciate the honesty about their feelings towards each other, they didn't hide the attraction they had for each other, and worked to find a solution that worked for both of them. It is a fun, quick, enjoyable summer read, with an interesting look into the restaurant world ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Witness to Passion
Guarding Her Body # 1 By: Naima Simone Releasing June 16, 2015 Entangled: Ignite
Under his protection and in his bed…
For Fallon Wayland, birthdays are just another reminder of her looming spinsterhood. This year is shaping up to be no different. Unfairly fired from her job, dumped by her boyfriend, and oh yes, witnessing the murder of a high-ranking lieutenant in the local crime family… Yeah, birthdays suck. Ever since a disastrous, hot-as-hell kiss years ago, soldier-turned-security specialist Shane Roarke has avoided his baby sister’s reckless—and gorgeous—best friend. Yet when her life is threatened after she witnesses a gang hit, he insists on protecting her…even if she objects. The two are forced to hole up in a safe house. Alone. Passion long denied erupts between them, burning away their inhibitions. But even as layers—and clothes—are peeled away, danger closes in. Shane and Fallon might finally have a chance at love…if they survive long enough to see it.
Bold and savage action, dangerous situations, and passionate romance that after years of kindling, now burns out of control, like a wild fire.
Fallon and Shane have known each for a long time, and loved each other nearly as long. What seems like an opposite childhoods, have lots of similarities in the neglect, but creates a very different goals for the future for both of them. Fallon doesn't believe in love and forever, only for here and now, Shane wants the stability and safety of marriage and family. And to stay away from the temptation, instability, and spontaneity, that is Fallon. Now Fallon's life is in danger, and Shane will do everything to keep her alive, even risk his own life. The story is fun and full of action, the pages turn quickly. When not explosive action, attempts to Fallon's life, or investigating possibly dirty cop, the lust, passion, and angst from the feelings towards each other are front and center. They want each other with fervor, but don't want to surrender to the feelings, needs, and wants. The language at times can be a bit offensive to some, just a fair warning, as are the love scenes explicit, the heat level high. There's a constant underlying fear of being rejected in Fallon's mind, but the ending is so swoon worthy, and leaves no doubts in anyone's mind, what are Shane's intentions and feelings. Great entertainment! ~ Four Spoons

Zack
Cold Fury Hockey # 3 By: Sawyer Bennett Releasing June 9, 2015 Loveswept
New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett goes for a hat trick with the latest romance in a sexy series about cool-as-ice hockey players and the women heating up their lives.
Warning: The following contains spoilers from a cliffhanger in Garrett. Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief that has put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury, still crippled by emotional baggage, and now a single dad, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes. Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.
Zack is grieving for Gina, filled with feelings of regret, sorrow, remorse, and guilt. All that is understandable, considering all the years he was with Gina, they had a child together, and she died in an accident when he was driving. Zack was longing to feel something, anything, after the accident, and he finally did, when he met Kate.
Kate desperately needs a job after graduating from college, and being a nanny for Zack's son, Ben, would be the perfect solution. Kate is dorky, joyful, and loves to make people laugh. She is hiding behind baggy clothing from the male attention, that she experienced in a negative setting at a young age. I liked Kate, her unexpected, funny ways, and complete lack of shame, while interacting with people. I liked the devotion, care and love both Zack and Kate have for Ben, it was cheerful, and filled with happy moments. The angst Zack have is very understandable. It was only just a couple of months since Gina's death. His defense mechanism is in place, he is grieving, and that should be allowed. But what I didn't like, was the meanness he expressed towards Kate several times. Yes, he was in turmoil, his life was upside-down, but in my opinion, it was uncalled for. The book is written in the first person, by both Zack and Kate's point of view, and so there's a lot of pondering, as Zack works with his grief, and Kate through her heartbreak. The relationship between them is hot and sexual, as their feelings towards each other are growing deeper, the need to connect on a deeper level rises. Zack and Kate's story is an emotional journey through pain and regret, to love. There's a lot of heat, but as well sweet and tender moments, and Ben is absolutely adorable. ~ Three Spoons

Their feelings are deep, real, and raw, passion runs hot, for the first time for Jewel. Forgiveness, acceptance, and love get them through the most. The story is touching, even though not overridden by angst, there were several times I was in tears. It shows clearly the path of mourning that Jewel has to take, and the route of survival guilt Nate has to clear for himself to be able to love freely. It is a beautiful story, stunning, and wistful. The support, assent, and love of the families is priceless. Ms Foster writes steamy, yet tender love scenes, that heat up the pages, and shows the true adoration between Nate and Jewel ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

That Man of Mine
Whispering Bay # 3 By: Maria Geraci Releasing June 9th, 2015 TKA Distribution
When Mimi Grant becomes mayor of Whispering Bay, she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for. Her biggest concern? The city’s annual festival is in financial ruin and the former housewife doesn’t have a clue how to fix things. But, she’s determined to bring the sleepy beachside town into the twenty-first century.
Hunky Police Chief Zeke Grant isn’t happy that his estranged wife Mimi has just become his boss. But for the town’s sake, he’s willing to swallow his pride and let her order him around—to a point. Everything aside, he doesn’t count on someone from his past coming back to haunt him, forcing him to reevaluate what’s really important. While Mimi and Zeke continue to butt heads on how to get things done, there’s one thing they can’t help but agree on: their chemistry is hotter than ever. However, when a robbery threatens to derail the annual festival, some of the town’s residents question Mimi and Zeke’s ability to keep Whispering Bay safe—as well as keep their war-torn personal life out of civic business. Mimi and Zeke must team up to solve the crime, and decide once and for all if it’s time to move forward with separate lives, or if true love really does conquer all.
That Man of Mine takes us back to the Whispering Bay. This is the book three in the series, and from the previous books, we know the police chief Zeke, and his now mayor wife, Mimi are having some trouble in their marriage. And That Man of Mine gives us the details of the story of Mimi and Zeke, as well a look into the small town life, where they are as the 'power couple'.
It's a sweet story of the realities of life, how even the 'perfect couple' can have problems in their marriage, how important communication is in a relationship, and the humorous side to living in a small town spot light. There is much for Mimi to learn about running the town, the new challenges are stressful, their daughter is acting up, there's wedding to be planned for Zeke's sister, and the father of Zeke and Allie is suddenly back in the picture. I liked that both Zeke and Mimi were willing to work on thing, and how obvious their love for each other was. I thought they both had valid points, and liked how they worked so seamlessly as a team when they wanted to. They both were willing to step up for each other when needed, and they could calm each other out in the face of a storm, with just one look. The book tells the story of the spring at the Whispering Bay. It is lively and witty tale of the small town living, and an open eyed look at the marriage of eighteen years, second chances, the importance of an open communication, and willingness to forgive and move on, where love still conquers all ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Danielle Bordeaux was used to danger. As a doctor with the Center for Disease Control she thrived on the adventure and challenge of battling the world’s worst diseases, in the world’s worst places. When Ebola breaks out in a small village in Ghana, she and her team are prepared for the worst. But what she finds is a virus made even more deadly by human hands. And when rebels attack the camp, rescue comes from the last man she ever expected to see again. It hurts every time she looks at him, but also brings a sweet torture that she’s not sure she can deny.
Damon Dupree is an ex-Marine for hire. A former sniper and an ace helicopter pilot, he goes where the money and excitement take him. The government has him playing babysitter to a genius inventor, bent on finding a cure for Ebola—but a frantic call has him racing to save the one woman from his past that he can’t touch—and can’t forget. With a killer bent on infecting anyone close with a mutated virus, can he save the only woman who’s ever meant anything to him—before they lose everything?
When the suspense comes in the form of a deadly, man made virus, and you have no idea who in your own team is behind it, no idea who you can trust, the fear, the tension, the pressure is palpable and immense. The psychological tension that came from that fear was intense and well build. The story in whole flew very nicely, and the book was hard to put down.
I love Dani and Damon together, the energy, attraction, draw is real and noticeable. It's like the allure between them is so strong, they have a special connection to each other. Maybe it's their guardian angel, Damon's twin and Dani's former husband. I didn't find the connection with Dani and Damon odd at all, because of Damon being Dani's husband's twin. It had been eight years since Gabriel passed, that was more than time enough. They respected and honored his memory, and that was pleasing to me. The love between them is strong, hot, filled with passion, understanding, and tenderness. There's just something so adorable about these two, it melted my heart, and they set the pages on fire! And as a lovely surprise, there was a little update on their friends, the cast from the former books in the series. Sharp, vivid, intense action and suspense, mixed with swoon worthy romance, a captivating love story, twists in the plot that you don't expect, and humor that makes you smile in the most tense moments ~ Five Spoons!
When the sheikh claims a wife, she cannot refuse …
Altair is a man perfectly in control both of himself and the power he wields as regent of Al Harah. Yet in order to retain his stronghold on the country he loves, he must wed a princess wilder than the Bedouin tribe she was raised in. A princess who only has one word for him: no. Princess Safira knows what freedom means and it isn’t a palace or a crown. Neither does it mean being told what to do by a man with more ice in his veins than blood. Safira is innocent in the ways of men, but the heat in Altair’s gaze calls to a deep, unclaimed part of her soul she cannot deny. Altair seems hell-bent on civilizing her, but she’s not so easily tamed. Especially not when she can sense the wildness that lives in him… Altair lives with guilt, regret, and trying to fix what he feels responsible for destroying. Part of the solution is to marry Safira. Safira is strong willed, and lonely. Most of her life she has been in hiding, living in the desert, without much human interaction. The battle of tradition, culture, and customs with an ironclad will to always be in control, comes in between the connection Altair and Safira have. For the first time Safira has feelings of passion, affection, and happiness. Feelings Altair doesn't allow for himself, and the battle of the minds to follow. Altair's conflict between his heart and feelings towards Safira against duty and repentance nearly damage the fragile relationship and shatter the advantage and change he has made as a ruler of the country. Equality of rights is not accepted in all the cultures. The battle between tradition and Western worlds is constant, and also present in this story. The cultural differences and traditions are interesting. But despite the strong sense of duty, love still wins. ~ Three Spoons
Dillon Sheenan refuses to be tamed…
After three years running the family ranch, sexy thirty-year-old Dillon Sheenan has a one way plane ticket out of Montana. He’s eager to put small town life, with its emphasis on brides, babies, and families, behind him as he’s certainly not interested in being a dad, or even ready to settle down. Beautiful single mom, Paige Joffe, juggles a lot, between running Main Street Diner and coping with her money-pit of a Victorian on Bramble Lane. She doesn’t have time for anything but taking care of the loves of her life, Addison and Tyler, and working to pay down bills. But one date–and an incredibly hot kiss–with Dillon Sheenan wakes her up and makes her dream again. Until she finds out Dillon’s already bought his ticket out of town… Is Dillon about to break the heart of the only woman he’s ever loved?
I loved this story. It resonated with me so deeply, cause sometimes life is about broken plumbing, furnace that isn't working, people might have disappointed us, work is not going the way we want, and we take on a responsibility that we are not so excited about. Life is hard work, battle, and struggles. And we lose our faith, and it is hard to see God and hope in the midst of all the effort everyday life takes.
That's what Paige and Dillon are struggling with, that and the attraction towards each other. And the way Dillon pined after Paige for three years, is rather adorable. And the guts Paige has, to go after what she wanted, is so admirable. Their journey is real, raw, and heartbreaking at times. But there is also humor, joy, laughter, and moments of pure pleasure and passion. And even though life is a hard road, as long as you show up, are present and show love, it is enough. You don't have to be perfect, just forgiving and loving. As you can see, I am so inspired by this story. There are deep feelings, fear of failure, rejection, but also admiration, adoration, love, success, and harmony. Sometimes we are so afraid to fail, not be perfect, like Dillon as a father, that we don't see the great job we are already doing in that role. The connection Dillon had with Paige's kids is heart melting. This love story is beautiful, life like, real, and honest. The characters are strong, genuine, and true. At the end of my notes I had written 'love, joy, hope, faith', because this story is filled with all that ~ Five Spoons!
Falling Hard
Bad Boys Undercover # 2 By: HelenKay Dimon Releasing May 26, 2015 Avon Books
After a grueling assignment with the black ops force known as the Alliance, Weston Brown is craving downtime. Instead, he's pulled into his deadliest operation, in the one place he never wanted to see again. No-nonsense and so damn hot, Lexi Turner lied to get him to her mountain clinic in Pakistan. But the threat is terrifyingly real.
Lexi has been asking too many questions, drawing the wrong kind of attention. As soon as she lays eyes on West, she can tell he's quiet—yet tough—and has a rescue complex which will come in handy for going up against the world's most ruthless gunrunners. Cut off from the rest of the Alliance, Lexi and West navigate the brutal terrain and a primal sexual attraction. Sticking around has never been West's way, but now he'll use every resource to keep Lexi by his side, safe from a killer who leaves no loose ends behind. Review:
The story starts off with breathless, intense action, and that holds through the book.
I absolutely loved this story, and a fair warning: it might keep you up late at night, because it is nearly impossible to put down, once you start to read it! West is such a perfect hero, he has the nickname 'machine', since it seems he doesn't have any emotions. But he has to put them away, while on a job, so he can focus and do what is expected from him. He is solid, caring, loyal, and protective towards those he cares. He is a team player, and believes in what he does. And when he falls, he falls so hard. Lexi is strong, fearless, stubborn, with lots of sass, and she captures West's attention from the first sight. There's so much delightful humor in this story, and I enjoyed West and Lexi's interaction immensely. Yes, they are both stubborn to the fault, they argue and banter, and at times I wanted to shake Lexi and say 'his professional, listen to him!' But when she learns to trust him, she does listen to him when it counts. Her need to protect this fearless soldier, is endearing. The passion between them is as fierce as the action in the story. Their honesty and candor with each other is refreshing. The Alliance team work is as seamless as always. The loyalty to the team, focus on the mission, and care they show to each other is admirable. They all are surprised, yet pleased, when West falls for Lexi, and are willing to stand up for them, and make it possible for them to have a relationship. If you love stories with strong, passionate characters, fierce, cutthroat action, mixed with humor that might make you laugh out loud at unexpected moments, Falling Hard is all that, and then some! ~ Five Spoons! Her nationally bestselling and award-winning books have been showcased in numerous venues and her books have twice been named "Red-Hot Reads" and excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine. But the best part of the job is never having to wear pantyhose.
