FBI agent Rafe Sirilli has made the war against narcotics drugs his personal fight. Home to settle his father's estate, Rafe has no desire to get involved in local matters. Yet, he finds himself involved in solving two homicides and busting a drug ring as he tries to prove the innocence of a girl he'd long forgotten. Erin has grown into a beautiful woman. The passion she ignites in Rafe is hot enough to incinerate them both. His decision to deliver his own brand of justice will put his commitment to the law to the test. High school counselor Erin Brady is committed to helping kids. Her world crashes around her when she's accused of making inappropriate sexual advances and suspected of murder. Erin's problems have only just begun. She has a secret admirer, one who vows to kill anybody who threatens to harm her or interfere with his plan. Rafe Sirilli agrees to help prove her innocence. Romance blooms, but Erin refuses to hope for permanence. Rafe is available for loan but not to keep. Will facing old fears help Rafe capture the heart of the woman he loves? The woman who just turned him away? A great opening for a new series! I enjoyed the cast of characters. They are fun, loyal, and trustworthy, charismatic and caring, making them a very attractive and likeable cast. Rafe and Erin have several murder mysteries, senseless acts of violence, to solve, while battling against their feelings for each other. At the same time there is a problem with drugs on the high school, and everything seems to be connected to Erin somehow. The mystery is layered, with many aspects that needs to be figured out. Since part of the story is also told from the villain's point of view, you really find how insane and irrational he is. Rafe and Erin's attraction is sizzling, the heat level is high. But there is also such a sweet, caring, protective side to them, making the whole romance rather adorable. ~ Four spoons

Photo journalist Trey Scott comes back to Marietta for Christmas, only to find no one home... except for the enchanting Lucy DeMarco. Although Lucy isn’t crazy about the holidays, Trey does his best to restore her enthusiasm, starting with nestling her snug in his bed. But if he’s only in town until New Year’s... Picture this: Marietta, Montana, snow storm, two strangers meeting in the night, finding instant attraction, ending up, cuddled by the fire while Christmas music is playing on the background, and sharing some intimate details of their lives... Romantic, huh?! You betcha! Yes, the story had couple little details that made me lift my brows. But that's okay. I also found Lucy to be a bit bratty and immature at times. She had gone through a great loss and unexpected surprise in her past, that had affected her greatly, and was trying to work it out. The romance was moving fast and intense, Trey and Lucy both falling faster than they were comfortable with. The story has lots of Christmas cheer, family connections, traditions, and love. ~ Three spoons Do you believe that opposites attract? Well, Bobby and Sophie Sloan sure put that theory to the test… As the youngest of the Sloan boys, Bobby never said much. But when it came to wife, he was always quick to express his love and devotion. Sophie’s lovable, animated soul complemented his strong, silent demeanor perfectly. Together, Sophie and Bobby were a match made in heaven. Their uncomplicated marriage was full love, trust, and unconditional support. But when life-altering news threatens to change the simplicity of their lives, only they will be able to decide if they can accept this new change with love, or with fear and doubt. Finally see inside the love that first welcomed us into Harper’s Crossing… The Crossroads series were the first Melanie Shawn books I read, and after the first one, I inhaled all the rest without a break. I fell in love with her style to write, you get into the characters' lives, feelings, struggles. I laughed at the witty, fun comments of the characters, I teared up with their emotional struggles... Just loved them!! Since then the Sloan boys have held a special place in my heart. They love deeply, protect what's theirs fiercely, and are loyal, honest, standup guys. *SWOON* My Love is the tale of Bobby and Sophie coming to the crossroads of their lives. I love how they dealt with the news, the change in their life. Embracing it. But even more I loved how they adore each other, in all possible ways, they love each other so deeply, completely, it is comprehensive. The tale is HOT! I mean, scorching, sizzling, steamy tale. Bobby and Sophie take the heat level all the way to the top, during their annual Christmas getaway. But at the same time, because of their deep devotion to each other, it is a sweetly adorable story that just makes you smile. ~ Five spoons! Christina Forrester is starting over. After a financial scandal sent her ex-husband to prison, she's left raising her young son without any of the comforts of their old life. Budgets, coupons, lawn care—you name it, she's learning to do it all on her own. Well, almost on her own—she'd be lost without Gail Broughton, the kind widow across the street. But when Gail's son comes home, Christina's vow to never trust a man again is put to the test. Will Broughton left town because he was tired of being "that poor man" who lost his wife and unborn child in a tragic accident. But years have passed and, with his dad gone and his mom alone, it's time to go home. Only his mother's not alone. She's taken Christina under her wing, and the beautiful and determined single mother awakens something in Will he thought was buried forever. As Will and Christina are forced to spend more time together, feelings that are more than neighborly grow between them. And with Christmas coming and a child filling both houses with holiday cheer, it becomes nearly impossible not to embrace the joy—and the love—in their lives. I absolutely LOVE Shannon Stacey books. I have them all, as far as I know, and there was not a one that I didn't enjoy immensely. Her writing style, her voice is so real, down to earth. Her characters are real people, with normal jobs, and normal everyday problems. They are family oriented, loyal and they love fiercely and completely. On Her Holiday Man both Christina and Will are a bit broken. Life has dealt them tough hands to play with. And they both have coped with the loss in their own way. The struggle they have to dare to trust, to open up, to love again was so heartbreaking, I have to admit I was in tears. The love story is so poignant, adorable, and beautiful. It is all about second chances, family, joy, and traditions, cheer, it just filled my heart until it was overflowing. If there is only one Christmas story you are going to read this season, make this the one. It is all that, and so much more! ~ Five spoons!!! Fans of Cindy Gerard’s New York Times and USA Today’s best-selling Black Ops, Inc. series are going to LOVE revisiting Johnny Duane Reed and Crystal “Tinkerbelle” Debrowski (book 3: Whisper No Lies) in this super fast, super suspenseful, super sexy short story. The Black Ops fans are really being spoiled with these short novella Cindy Gerard has written! And she writes so well, that even in the short novella, you get the to the characters. Reed and Tink were so much fun to get to know in their own novel, and this novella brings all their best qualities out as well. Reed is a hoot with his easy going, flirting ways, and Tink is just TInk - strong, stubborn, and fierce. The love they have for each other run in very deep waters, and makes me smile while reading. This novella is full of action, gun fight, flirting, and adoration for each other. Just a little pearl for all Black Ops fans ~ Five spoons! Fans of Cindy Gerard’s New York Times and USA Today’s best-selling Black Ops, Inc. series are going to LOVE revisiting Luke and Val (book 6: With No Remorse) in this intensely suspenseful, emotional, and sexy short story that Cindy created due to the many requests from her fans to hear from this knockout couple again. Luke Coulter and his wife Valentina (Black Ops, Inc series book 6: With No Remorse) are taking their long awaited honeymoon. The island of Palau is a beautiful destination for some fun in the sun and some awesome diving for Luke. A tragic accident could cost Luke his life. Val has to face her fears and push beyond them to save her warrior husband. Can this beauty save her Navy Seal? I love Black Ops series by Cindy Gerard, and was so happy to find this novella on Amazon. Luke and Val were so much fun to get to know in their full length novel, so this novella about their honeymoon was a treat to me. They have so much love and devotion to each other, it is just adorable. Made me truly *sigh* so many times. Even in this short read, the author pulls you in so well, that the fear and anxiety left me gasping. Val was so courageous, facing her fears, trying to save her beloved. The story is full of love, dedication, and intensity. If you have read the Black Ops series, this is a lovely addition to the adventure in the full length novels. ~ Five spoons! It should have been a simple mission... Pararescueman Wade Rocha fast ropes from the back of a helicopter into a blizzard to save a climber stranded on an Aleutian Island, but Sunny Foster insists she can take care of herself just fine... But when it comes to passion, nothing is ever simple. With the snowstorm kicking into overdrive, Sunny and Wade hunker down in a cave and barely resist the urge to keep each other warm... until they discover the frozen remains of a horrific crime. Unable to trust the local police force, Sunny and Wade investigate, while their irresistible passion for each other gets them more and more dangerously entangled. Another action packed thrill ride, I absolutely loved spending time with! There wasn't only fight against the threat of the evil villain with his many unknown webs, there was the fight against the nature, and partly the society at large. So many layers to this story, that kept my interest from the beginning. The many different aspects of the suspense, the hazard of the wilderness, the different love stories braided into the story. Also the concept of the last frontier town, their little society, with their own rules and regulations was fascinating. Wade and Sunny had so many roadblocks in their way, the risk of trusting each other may be the largest one. I loved how they're worked their relationship obstacles out, and made compromises, supported each other... It is a must read, in my opinion, for all romantic suspense fans ~ Five spoons! After their one-night fling at a wedding, archaeologist Henrietta "Harry" Markowitz thought she'd never see war hero Matt Stanning again. So when they're paired up to investigate a military plane crash in Iraq, she's not sure if the three-month reunion is serendipitous or cursed. What she does know is this gorgeous man lights her body on fire-and incredible sex is always a welcome distraction. Air Force Sergeant Matt Stanning has been called a hero, but he feels nothing like one when he realizes the sexy blonde in his bed is the widow of his fallen brother-in-arms. Even worse, he actually has to work with her, and she's unearthed evidence that points to a military conspiracy. If they dig deeper, they'll put their lives in danger. If they don't, they'll never know the truth-not only about the mysterious plane crash, but about each other. The perfect mix of adventures action and heartrendingly beautiful romance! From the sizzling hot first encounter, to the scorching fire in the second, Henrietta and Matt are not only attracted to each other, they find a special connection. When the common denominator in both of their past comes to the light, it seems like all the odds are against them ever finding happily ever after with each other. The love, romance, between Henrietta and Matt is touching, sometimes even agonizing, and most of the time sexy. With the sorrow of the past, it's shadows in the present it is a powerful, real, fresh, and emotional roll-a-coaster ride. While Henrietta and Matt are trying to face the ghost of the past, they also have to solve a mystery, that intrigues many. They have to find out, who are the real allays, and who are they fighting against for - but also what are they fighting against for. The mystery is mesmerizing, more and more secrets are coming to light, and twists coming to play, that makes them wonder if they can trust anyone anymore. While the story is unfolding, there are also many interesting tidbits of information about the Iraq culture and habits, cuisine included. Also, different forms of PTSD symptoms, origins, and what can trigger an attack are part of the story, that, as I have mentioned in previous reviews, in my opinion, is great and commendable addition to many military stories these days. I truly enjoyed this story in every aspect, and can recommend it highly ~ Five spoons! Thrilling whodunit novel with gory violence, hair-raising crimes, and a gripping storyline. I got addicted to the tale from the prologue, and the story kept my interest till the end. Not to reveal too much to avoid spoilers, but the mystery, suspense is intensified, so that the tension builds with each chapter, making it riveting! The romance and attraction between Tucker and Miranda builds despite the fact that they have so many odds against them. But they have a connection that is passionate, and undeniable. If only her soon-to-be ex-husband, all-star pitcher, Beckett “Beck” Chambers wasn’t bringing his new girlfriend—and if only he wasn’t still the sexiest man to ever walk out onto the mound… Beck never wanted the chaotic life of a sport star—especially not at the cost of his marriage to the only woman he’s ever truly loved. But his career is a runaway train—and he’s afraid it’s too late to hit the brakes. But when a mix-up leaves Beck and Marley stranded together for Christmas Eve on the barrier island where Beck proposed years before, old memories burn bright—and sparks fly hotter than a bonfire on the beach. Could the magic of the season bring the gift of a second chance, just in time for Christmas? The real life meets Christmas stories. A Very Married Christmas is a story of the pain, agony and regrets of divorce, as well as wishing for second chances, hoping for new opportunities, for 'do-over' in life. It describes the torment of facing the ex-spouse's new lover, dating again, including getting drunk, texting while drunk, and trying for a fling. I didn't really connect with the characters, and Beck wasn't easy to connect with Marley, after reading his lustful thoughts about his current girlfriend. Was there enough of 'Christmas magic' to save Marley and Beck's marriage? In my mind, not really. ~ Two big spoons and a teaspoon on the side. She’s the one woman he can’t have. Past experience has taught FBI Special Agent Clay Bauer not to trust his judgment when it comes to the opposite sex, yet despite his jaded outlook there’s one woman he can’t get out of his head—and she’s off limits. They’re opposites in every way but Zoe’s gotten deep under his skin and when she’s drawn into a dangerous situation against a faceless enemy he steps in to help protect her. Then she disappears without a trace and the loss leaves him reeling. Now he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back alive. By the time he realizes what she means to him it could be too late. Former family lawyer Zoe Renard has been through her own heartbreak but she can’t ignore the magnetic pull between her and Clay. When he comes to New Orleans for a conference, it’s the perfect opportunity for her to see if there might be something real between them. Just as desire ignites into something more powerful than either of them imagined, she’s targeted by a madman bent on revenge. With her life on the line, it’s a race for Clay and his teammates to find her and save her from certain death. Heartrendingly beautiful love story with breathtaking action and suspense. Clay and Zoe are absolutely marvelous together! Clay is so broken from past experience that has turned him into a cynic when it comes to love, such a big alpha warrior, but so vulnerable. Zoe is strong and independent, holds nothing back, Goth girl to the last detail. Together they are so accepting of each other, loving, and tender. The friendship they have built over the months as the foundation to the developing feelings. The action is on the edge, explosive, with the constant unknown threat. The author pulled me into the story so that I could really feel the raw emotions the characters felt. The agony, sorrow, pain, fear... I was in tears, it was so coarse, natural, fresh. Kaylea Cross is one of the very few authors on my auto-buy list, I absolutely love her work. Hunted doesn't disappoint either, I highly recommend this (or any) of her series! ~ Five spoons!! |
