Books & Spoons Review: THE TEXAN'S TWIN BLESSINGS by Rhonda Gibson

Picture
Stand-In Father

As temporary guardian to his twin baby nieces, William Barns barely knows a diaper from a burp cloth. The well-meaning but meddling neighbor ladies suggest a wife—namely Emily Jane Rodgers. Although William isn't in the market for a bride, he needs a loving woman to watch over the children, and Emily Jane fits the bill nicely.

Emily Jane agrees to care for William's nieces—not become his betrothed. Fully determined to find her own way in life and to open her own bakery, Emily Jane isn't looking for a husband. But no matter how hard she resists, Emily Jane is roped in by the twins' little hugs and William's tender regard. And soon she longs to be a permanent part of this ready-made family…

Such a heartwarming and adorable story.
First, Rose and Ruby are just cute, those twins would steal anyone's heart.
Emily Jane was hurt deeply by her parents' behavior, by burdening her with the household work at an early age, and then sending her off as a mail-order-bride. She has dreams and ambitions, she wants to have her own opinion, be independent, own a bakery, and be free of a husband and children. At times she comes off stubborn, so focused only on her goal, but her background explains that reaction.
William is goodhearted, generous, and caring. The way he took the responsibility of the two year old twin nieces, is admirable.
I loved how William and Emily Jane had such a strong connection, and bond. They seemed to constantly end up in situations, that for the rest of the town would have seemed inappropriate. The warmth, love, and affection between them grows over time, while taking care of the twins, and sharing their everyday life. They both have strong faith in God, and it is natural, and essential to their lives.
The whole town comes together after a tornado hit the town. How everyone pulled together, and did what they could to help, was lovely to see. The devastation the tornado leaves behind changes lots of things in the town. How William is willing to use his fortune to help others and the town is commendable.
This story made me smile, it is heartfelt and inspiring. The strong faith the characters have is uplifting and refreshing, it was also very naturally twined into the story.

Books & Spoons Review: Sharp Shootin' Cowboy by Victoria Vane

TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT, COWBOY…
A Weary warrior… After eight years as a Marine sniper, war-scarred Reid Everett is back in his native Wyoming. He knows and loves this rugged land, so working for wildlife services to reduce the booming wolf population suits him to a T.

A Caring crusader… Wildlife biologist Haley Cooper is desperate to make a difference. Leaving the world of academia behind, she accepts a position as a wolf advocate to protect the animals she loves.

Raw attraction… Their jobs set them on a collision course, but chemistry sparks like wildfire between Reid and Haley. They’ll have to brave some rough territory if they hope to reconcile their polarizing views with a passion that won’t be denied.

This story is different. And the first difference would be the true tale from the blurb. Because before we get into that part of the story, in about half way through, there's the whole history and past the characters have with each other, that actually spread over seven years of time.
And that history is not easy, smooth, or painless. Reid and Haley have a physical attraction, there's no denying that. But they don't see eye to eye on many things, when it comes to, well, just about anything at all.
Haley has trust and self esteem issues from her childhood. She has strong convictions about everything, from hunting, wildlife, military, to eating meat, just to name a few. Reid is a marine, cowboy, and has been hunting all his life, so there are many conflicts to be faced. Also Haley's personal problems make her push and pull constantly in their relationship, and make some questionable decisions. It really is amazing that Reid has the overwhelming attraction towards her, that last over the years of separation. Haley is not easy to like, or understand, she is running hot and cold every time they meet over the years.
Reid is really attractive, kind, caring, old fashion, with family values. Haley likes to think all marines are like her father, that she didn't even know.
With amazing patience and understanding, Reid and Haley work out their differences.
The story contains lots of  detailed information about wildlife preserve, that at times slows the story down, too much in my opinion.
I did struggle with this book, mainly because of Haley, and the story was moving so slow, at times. The saving force of the story was Reid, and because of him I will give the story

The Wedding Gift
Save The Date #3.5
By: Cara Connelly
Releasing May 5, 2015
Avon

Picture
What's the New-Jan-Plan? Discover the answer in Cara Connelly's newest Save The Date Novella, and see how mousey Jan Marone gives herself the gift of living, laughing, and finally loving … all under the hot Key West sun.

She'd come to Key West for a wedding, only to discover the hotel had messed up her reservation. So although Jan Marone has to share a tiny room with sexy Mick McKenna, it shouldn't really be a problem. Mick's her best friend, and he doesn't think of her "that way" … or does he?

Mick McKenna loves hard and plays hard. His thick black hair, chiseled jaw, and hard, muscled body make him irresistible. But when once-innocent Jan walks into his hotel room, Mick can't believe his eyes. Now she's wearing a sexy bikini and telling him it's time for her to "get lucky," making him protective and tantalized at the same time.

Worried she might be in over her head, he decides never to leave her side … and suddenly their hotel room seems smaller—and hotter—than ever. Mick's always been hands-off with Jan—but has the right woman been under his nose the whole time?

Review:

A story so full of sunshine, love and affection, it is like a bright summer day, that definitely makes me long for the warm sunny days.
I enjoy the 'best friends' storyline immensely. There's just something profound and deep about the love story, when the two have known each other for some time, or a life time, know all there's to know about the other, and love them truly.
Mick and Jan have that connection for sure. They are so much fun, and as they are lusting for each other in their minds, the situations get even comic, and definitely humorist. The other men ribbing Mick about his obvious feelings towards Jen, and her being clueless about it, made me laugh out loud.
They are so perfect together, and when they are intimate with each other, it is hot as it can be! And when Mick finally tells her how he feels... Well, that you have to find yourself. All I can say, is that this story left a smile on my face, it is full of joy and love, and best friends.

Sin
Devil’s Den # 3
By: Violetta Rand
Releasing May 12, 2015
Loveswept

Picture
Sin proves that passion goes beyond smoldering desire when hearts dance to their own special beat.

Every woman at the Devil’s Den strip club has a story to tell, and Macey Taylor is no exception. Smart and self-reliant, she’s got a chip on her shoulder, a broken heart, and no patience for a sexy new manager with an Ivy League pedigree and a strict set of rules. Macey prefers to break rules, something she lets Joshua Camden know from the start—even as he ignites a fire in her that goes beyond the hottest club in town.

Joshua is working the Devil’s Den for all it’s worth, learning everything he can about the adult-entertainment game before investing in a place of his own. Macey is a surprise: a woman as strong-willed as she is gorgeous. Joshua wants to get inside her world, to see through her eyes. But he soon discovers that seduction is a two-way street—and expecting redemption without risking his heart may be the greatest sin of all.

Picture
I’m standing at the bar on Wednesday night, having a drink with one of our regular customers, when Macey arrives. She’s wearing a dress that reminds me of something I’d see in Paris or in a classic film; it’s red and clings to her curves. I can’t help staring. She has to walk by me to check in with the DJ. We haven’t talked since Monday night.

As soon as she’s nearby, I smile.

“Good evening, Ms. Taylor.”

Without glancing my way, she flips me off and keeps moving.

“What’d you do to Macey?” Glenda calls from behind the bar.

I turn halfway, resting my elbow on the counter. “Couldn’t say.”

“Really?” She throws me the you’re full of shit look. “I’ve known that girl for over fifteen years, before she ever popped her pretty head in this place.”

I can’t imagine Macey as a little girl.

“And you want to know something?” Glenda leans over the bar, her large breasts

brushing against my arm. “I’ve never seen her act that way before, never.”

“I’m obligated to agree,” Gilbert adds, before sucking down the last of his rum and Coke. “Macey always has a smile . . .”

“Yeah,” I say, holding up my hand to silence Macey’s fan club. “I get it. You’re the

resident historian.” I smile at Glenda. “And you . . .” I slap Gilbert’s shoulder. “I haven’t quite decided what you are yet.”

“Just sayin’.” Glenda laughs.

The woman can see right through me. I am curious about her connection with Macey, though. She’s only twenty-four, and well, Glenda is older than dirt. I smile. “How’d you meet?”

She clicks her tongue. “See, Gilbert,” she comments. “The boy’s curiosity goes beyond the workplace.”

“Maybe,” I admit.

At the Spy’s Pleasure
In the Crown’s Secret Service # 2
By: Tina Gabrielle
Releasing May 26th, 2015
Entangled: Scandalous

Picture
Every gentleman has his secrets…

London 1821

After years of marriage to a selfish man who preferred gambling to his young bride, Jane, the widowed countess of Stanwell, now seeks what she was long denied-a satisfying lover. Naturally, a lady needs a list of eligible candidates, which doesn’t include the dangerously handsome (if far too arrogant) Gareth Ramsey…until he steals a sinful kiss from Jane’s all-too-willing lips.

Reputed as an arrogant barrister, Gareth’s real occupation is as a spy in the service of His Majesty, and his suspect is on Jane’s list of possible lovers. With her life in danger, there’s no safer place for Jane than with him-and in his bed. But Jane is as distracting as she is infuriating, and keeping her by his side while he pursues his mission might just endanger them both…

Picture
Jane struggled to keep up with Gareth’s long stride. Her vision was spinning now. She should protest; she shouldn’t allow him to escort her home.

Gareth Ramsey was dangerous, unpredictable. He was every inch a dominant male, and she could feel the power that coiled within him as he walked beside her. She ought to be wary and afraid.

So why was her stomach tight with anticipation instead of anxiety? Jane’s heart jolted at the realization that his size and strength no longer intimidated her, but made her feel safe.

They left Vauxhall Gardens and made it to the quayside where a boatman awaited. She halted, grasping her skirts and wondering how on earth she would step into the gently swaying boat when she was already unsteady on dry land.

Her quandary was resolved as Gareth easily picked her up, stepped into the boat, and set her down on the wooden seat across from him.

The boatman pushed off from the quayside.

“You’ve had too many drinks of punch, my lady,” Gareth said.

She didn’t argue with him. Instead she met his gaze. “You’re not the hard, emotionless barrister you portray to others.”

“Meaning?”

“You saved the boy in the park.”

“Anyone would—”

“Simon didn’t. And your concern for me tonight.”

“Again—”

“No.” She shook her head. “You’re kind hearted, soft beneath your gruff exterior.”

He flashed a crooked smile. “Soft? Now that’s an insult.”

She tilted her head to the side. “I don’t mean it as such.”

He placed a finger under her chin and forced her gaze to his. “Don’t turn me into a hero, Jane. I stated my intentions quite clearly. I want to be your lover. I want the privilege of showing you how pleasurable it can be between us, how passionate.”

She nearly gasped out loud at the raw lust in his eyes. A rush of heat washed over her and spread to her limbs. Gathering her courage, she swallowed and held his stare. “What if I told you I want that too?”

Books & Spoons Review: LOVE SO IRRESISTIBLE by Marquita Valentine

27/5/2015

Picture
All former Navy SEAL Mason Lawson craves is solitude. Unfortunately, his new neighbor won’t allow him the peace he so desperately needs. Between the traffic and the music, Mason is constantly on edge—not exactly what the doctor ordered for someone recovering from a bullet to the leg. However, when he finally has enough and confronts his neighbor, nothing can prepare him for how hot he’d get for the teacher next door.
Piano teacher, Skylar Jernigan, loves everything about the town of Jessamine—from the quaint Main Street shops to the people who own them. Unfortunately, once she’s chewed up and spit out by her sexy neighbor, Skylar begins to question her decision to move to a new town. Until, that is, she learns he’s suffering from a war wound and refuses to have anything to do with his family.
Now, Skylar is determined to help Mason recover—mentally, physically and socially—until he turns the tables and sets out to seduce Skylar right out of her meddling ways. Only seduction turns into something more and soon, Mason can’t stop looking for excuses to be with her. But when the Navy wants Mason to reenlist for a dangerous mission, will Skylar be too irresistible for him to leave?

Oh, I adore this story. It was refreshing, fun, joyful, and loving, it made me smile, even laugh out loud, and sigh so deeply.
First, the therapy dog, Bomber deserves a special mention. I have read several books where veterans with severe PTSD have used them, and Bomber is just amazing in his job, and in his attention to Mason.
Mason and Skylar has a true and real connection. She seems to be the only one, who can calm Mason's symptoms, and soul. Skylar stood up for him, they were a team, she took care of him, and gave new reasons to look forward to a new day. How she got his back, even with the meddling family, and made it possible for him to have a relationship with the large family, was admirable. The dialog in the story is so entertaining and fun, it cracked me up.
The conflict in their relationship was not overplayed, it was a serious matter, but Mason took his responsibility in it, and I loved the solution, how they arrived into it. Skylar's understanding towards the situation that Mason is in, the way they took care of each other, and not the least, the incredible steaming hot connection they have, was completely swoon worthy.
I'm so glad I run into this story, and I am looking forward to the next installment of the series, coming out in August. Truly, a fun summer read!

Books & Spoons Review: BROKEDOWN COWBOY by Maisey Yates

Picture
There are lines best friends shouldn't cross, but in Copper Ridge, Oregon, the temptation might be too much…

If practice makes perfect, Connor Garrett should be world champion of being alone. Since losing his wife he's concentrated exclusively on his family's ranch. Until his dear friend Felicity Foster needs a place to stay and Connor invites her to move in temporarily. That's what friends do—and Liss is his rock. What friends don't do? Suddenly start fantasizing about each other in their underwear. Or out of it…

Since high school, Liss has kept her raging crush in check. Another few weeks should be a breeze. But helping Connor rebuild his life only reinforces how much she longs to be a part of it. One explosive encounter, and she'll discover that getting what you always wanted can feel better than you ever dreamed…

What a beautiful, emotional roll-a-coaster ride this book is. It is a journey through grief, it is a story of survival, and a story of friendship, that survives the most, but it is also an amazing story about love, hope, and new beginnings.
Connor has lost so much in his life. But through all the loss, there's been one rock in his life, his best friend, Liss. The one person he can count on, who is always there for him, and in the past years, has taken care of him when he wasn't able and willing doing it himself.
Liss has always loved Connor. Either romantically, or just as a friend, but the feelings has always been there. And finally he sees her as a woman, wanting her, desiring to be with her, sexually. And she really thought it would be enough, until it isn't.
I loved the circle of siblings and friends in the story. They are honest with each other, straightforward, joking and  banter being their normal form of communication. They call on each others mistakes, support and help when it is needed, and give advice even when it's not wanted.
Connor and Liss have an amazing connection, as friends. The trust, caring, and protection is there for each other. Their physical attraction and chemistry is scorching hot, when they finally unleash it. The journey they have to go through, as friends to lovers, to a relationship, is full of obstacles, pain, angst, and healing. It is a beautiful journey, though a difficult one, it has moments filled with agony and misery, as well as intense moments of passion and joy. It had me in tears several times, but  I was also laughing out loud, and smiling.
The story has many revelations of sorrow, loss, letting the past go, of new hope, and moving on, I noticed going back a page and rereading it, just wanting to grasp it all again. There are many moments that took my breath away, with the beauty of them, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this book, cause the life lessons are plentiful, as the love story is beautiful

Last of the Red-Hot Riders
Hell’s Outlaws # 2
By: Tina Leonard
Releasing May 26, 2015
Loveswept

Picture
The toughest rodeo rider in Hell, Texas, discovers his tender side with a feisty cowgirl in this sexy new novel from USA Today bestselling author Tina Leonard.

Cameron Dix knows that becoming an elite rider is the first step to realizing her dream: owning a special-needs equestrian academy. Only one thing stands in her way—and he’s big, tall, and sizzles like a Texas steak. Superhunk Saint Markham claims that he isn’t happy about all the women galloping into town, but the heat in his eyes tells Cameron a different story. What else can a fiery redhead do but let her hair down and give in to desire hot enough to melt her saddle?

Saint has seen what happens when women come marching into the Hell’s Outlaws Training Center: Strong men crumble. Problem is, he’s got rivals willing to train a talented lady rider like Cameron. But after one night of passion, he’s branded. And from the moment he kisses her ruby lips, Cameron is his—even if he’s too stubborn to admit it. Now Saint must stake his claim on a life of delicious sin with the woman he loves.

Review:

Hell, Texas is an idyllic small town, where old fashion values are set in deep. Mostly populated by men, and no families, the town mayor is doing all in her power to change the situation. And she seems to have a lot of power in Hell. Everyone feels comfortable into getting in each others business, and town funds are to be used to feed and help the homeless.
Saint is obsessed with Cameron, sexually and physically. And they are like cat's in a heat around each other. But the relationship seems to be focused on the physical side of things. There's no sharing of their past history, or other kind of meaningful conversations to get to really know each other. Cameron is scared of the intense feelings between her and Saint, because love is not part of her plan. They have several obstacles to work through, not all of them set by themselves.
The story is filled with tales and events with small town living, with its quirky habits, peculiar people, and the power struggles in the town leadership. It took a little bit to get into the story, might have helped to have read the previous book in the series.
It's a story where the old west meets modern day, passion runs deep in the hearts of the habitats, and they take care of their own, even though sometimes with questionable ways.

Books & Spoons Review: Perfect Kiss by Melanie Shawn

Picture
For him, everything had fallen into place...

Levi Dorsey didn't want much and never complained. The private, sexy bar owner was content in his life and excited to move forward with his new business project. There was just one problem--he'd never been able to forget about that kiss...or about her.

For her, everything had fallen apart...

Shelby Kellan was once confident in knowing who she was and what she wanted. But recent events caused the gorgeous, blue-eyed beauty to barely recognize the woman she saw when she looked in the mirror. She knew she needed a fresh start. Could she do it with his kiss still lingering on her lips?

Eighteen months ago, Levi and Shelby shared the perfect kiss. Now, he wanted more, but would she be able to give that to him after already losing so much?

Reading a Hope Falls novel, for me, is like visiting your hometown, with your best friends. The atmosphere is so friendly and accepting. The town folks are not shy to bug into your business, and they take care of their own. I love these stories, and have been waiting to read Levi's story ever since he was first introduced, because, really, Levi is just all that!
Levi has always come across as honest, loyal, protective, friendly, and kind. He is hot as all get out, and not shy about it. He knows who he is, and is proud of what he has accomplished, like he should be. I adore him!
Shelby, the sparkling, fun loving, beautiful, stubborn, spunky, kind and caring person, has gone through something that no one should have to endure. With time, and place to heal, she finds herself again, from the broken person she had begun.
I love the way the domestic abuse was handled in this story. It wasn't the main focus of the book, but it was dealt with serious, thoughtful, and respectful way towards the victim.
Levi and Shelby together were explosive. The chemistry, connection, attraction was burning hot, creating humorous moments, as Levi is trying to do the right thing, and giving Shelby time to heal. But when they get together, it is so amazing, beautiful, and loving, it left me breathless.
I cherish each Hope Falls novel, this, like all the others, made me laugh out loud (several times!), smile, sigh, swoon, and tear up. It is well written, with humor and love, not diminishing the tragedies in life, while celebrating all that is good in it

Books & Spoons Review: A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL by Louisa George

Picture
When the only thing worth fighting for is love …

There are two things ex-boxer and casino tycoon Rey Doyle is an expert in: fighting and gambling. He trusts no-one, but he needs a fiancé to help seal a business deal and part-time casino waitress Kate Wilkinson agrees to the pretense.

Kate is on a mission to expose Rey Doyle for the pitiless criminal he is, but the more she learns about Rey and his past, the more she begins to admire the man. When the chance to bring him down arrives will she take it? Or will this bad boy claim her heart instead?

So many secrets, deceit, and deception in this story. Is it right to accuse someone, do an expose on someone, if you do it in the name of revenge?
I have mixed emotions with this story. Cause I think the bad boy Rey was more honest and open, within his lies, than Kate was with her deception, while seeking for her revenge.
The story is dark, edgy, and dances on the borderlines of the criminal world, with gambling and fight clubs, deals, and justice by your own hand.
But like saying, amongst all that, in my opinion, Rey was the one with honesty, openness and direct approach to Kate. Kate came off as argumentative, difficult, and judgmental. She overreacted on situations, seeing only what she wanted to see.
Ray was a bad boy personified, but he was trying so hard - to do good, to do right, to make a difference, help where he could.
Their encounters are hot. They obviously have chemistry, and allure for each other. The attraction is fierce, and raw, the deepness of it confuses both of them.
The romance based on dishonesty, chicanery, and lies seem doomed from the beginning. When Kate's eyes started to open to see the bigger picture, it appeared to be too late already.
It was an interesting tale, I did read it at once, after starting it. I wanted to see, how Kate could get out of the web of lies she had put herself in. There was casino life, fight clubs, one wild affair with the boss, but there was also one badly abused boy trying to find his way in life, and older sister, fighting for justice, in a questionable way, for her brother

Books & Spoons Review: HIS DEFIANT PRINCESS by Kathleen O'Brien

Picture
Brenna Tinley has decided to move to the Unified Isles of Cornetta, a fairy-tale kingdom just south of France in the Bay of Biscay to escape the recent tragedies in her personal life. The happiest summer she can remember was spent there, in the arms of a handsome, tender rascal who disappeared without a goodbye when Autumn came…

As fate would have it, the Royal House of Vicenza has engaged Brenna Tinley to clear up a public relations mess. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime for this small-town American girl, but there’s only one problem. Her new employer, HRH Prince Ronan, aka her mystery summer lover of long ago, seems determined to pick up where they left off. Can Brenna work in the royal palace and not end up with a brand new broken heart?

I think this might be my favorite in the royal fairy tale series.
Because it was somehow the most realistic, with the modern day challenges of the internet and twitter to spread the rumors so fast, hashtag problems, and trending fears. Maybe it is because I currently live in a country where we actually have a Royal family, and years ago, with my former job, I was actually privileged to work events, where the protocol and etiquette was required, so it was easy for me to relate to some of the things happening in the story. The requirements, formalities, customs, and code is not easy to assimilate. Brenna felt the push and pull of the different situations, and grasp it fast. I loved how she stood up for herself, kept her chin up, and didn't let people or situations roll over her. Brenna was really easy to like, to cheer for, and wish her happily ever after.
Ronan was so loyal, knew his responsibility, and stood by his family. He was realistic, honest, and genuine. Together they were explosive, hot, and yet at the same time so sweet. There's a  scene in the 'cottage' during the dinner, where he tells Brenna, what he knows about her, that was one of my favorite scenes. So telling about their feelings, history, and perception.
This is a lovely modern day fairy tale, that made me smile, held my interest throughout the story, and made me admire and cheer for the characters. Lovely indeed

Books & Spoons Review: BOUND TO THE SHEIKH by Carol Marinelli

Picture
Sheikh Ashim Al Raquar, Crown Prince of Alzaquan, knows he must return to his country and leave his playboy reputation far behind him. It will be a wild journey home, though—he intends to party on his yacht right to the edge of the desert. And then he meets Emily, a corporate flight attendant who’s in the south of France hoping to find herself after years of taking care of her husband.

A sensual, charismatic lover with a reputed dark edge to his bedroom skills is the very last thing Emily needs.

Or is it the first?

Can I just start by saying the cover is HOT!
And so was this story. I'm not a big fan of the billionaire and sheikh stories, normally, but I sat down and read this novella through at once.
Emily's story, past is so heartbreaking. What she had to endure, and go through is unimaginable. But she stood fast, loyal, and true, and I can't but admire her.
Ashim comes from a different world. He's arrogant, domineering, and a bit uppity. But he is also very loyal, dutiful, and devoted.
The time Emily has with him at the Mediterranean, is her journey back to herself, after the tragedy of her past. It is like a poetry in motion, a dance between ancient and modern, as they court each other, and fight for their love. What starts as an audacious love affair, turns into a steamy, beautiful romance

Wedding fever has hit the little town of Marietta…

As the whole town goes crazy over the celebrity wedding event of the century, Melanie Richards decides she's tired of blending in. It's time go after what she wants. Her to do list:
Get a sexy dress
A little liquid courage
Lose that pesky virginity

Luke Shuller can’t believe his eyes when he walks into Grey’s and sees his best friend trying to pick up some drunk cowboy. Melanie wants to start hooking up? She can practice on him. At least he’ll keep her safe. And as a bonus, their pretend relationship will help him deal with a family crisis.

But when pretend gets real, Melanie can’t tell where the charade ends and reality begins. When the dust settles, will she get thrown back into the friend zone, or will she finally get the man of her dreams?

This story sort of started in Bride By Mistake, where we were introduced to Luke for the first time. I didn't like him then, I think he was acting really pompous and judgmental, when his sister and best friend were trying to find their way to happily ever after.
Well, at first, in this story Luke just went all out with his overbearing and chauvinistic behavior. But there was so much angst, disappointments, and fear behind that behavior. Because of his dyslexia, he had lived his life feeling like he doesn't measure up to his parents, he is constantly afraid to fail. And that causes him to act out, trying to control, protect and fix everything he could, he is afraid of change, ready to run out if things get difficult, because of the fear of failure.
And with Mel, he has the opportunity to have it all. The connection between them is so open, honest, electric, and hot. The chemistry just off the charts. And it broke my heart a bit, the difficult road they had to take, the obstacles they had to face, the turmoil they had to go through, to be able to have it all, for Mel to be able to be finally his bride

A little home improvement can go a long way…

Jesse Oliver was a medic in Afghanistan, but back home in Pine Mountain he’s happy to switch gears as the Double Shot bar’s new sous chef. When his apartment floods and his old Army buddy offers the family’s dilapidated lake house as temporary quarters, Jesse thinks a little remodeling on the creaky duplex sounds like a fair return favor. That’s before he sets eyes on the gorgeous woman moving into the other side of the cabin—and discovers she’s his buddy’s kid sister, a.k.a totally off limits.

Kat McMarrin has fought hard for her space, and she’s not too interested in sharing it. Of course, her job as a physical therapist means she won’t see much of Jesse, even if he’s a few thin floorboards away—unless she seeks him out. And with his sculpted body and slow-burn gaze, she might be tempted. Maybe the fixer-upper projects she has planned for the cabin will keep her mind off him. Or maybe her instincts to strip the place down will get out of hand…

It was really easy to like and relate to this story. The characters are charming, unique, kind, caring, thoughtful, respectful...
Even though Jesse doesn't necessarily feel this way about himself. The tough home life he had with his addict mom, growing up was not easy, full of Hallmark moments for him. Add to that the events of the war, the PTSD symptoms he is suffering from, it all have been eating up his self worth. And the last thing he wants to do, is to disrespect the trust his friend put upon him, when he gave Jesse a place to live, next to his sister.
But Kat and Jesse has amazing chemistry, connection. Their conversations, sharing about their past, childhood, and life, comes easy while they are working together at the lake house. The team work is effortless, trust is built, and the attraction between them too hot to be ignored.
I found myself smiling through this tale, there was so much sun and summer in it, fun flirting, loving, and sharing. The conversations between Kat and Jesse were revealing and deep, the affection and understanding between them adorable. The friends Jesse have, are trustworthy, and give support and advice with consideration.
All around an adorable, entertaining, feel good love story, that left me with sunny and joyful feelings

Reckless
Rescue Squad #1
By: Kimberly Kincaid
Releasing Jan 26th, 2016
Zebra, Imprint of Kensington
SOMEONE’S BOUND TO GET BURNED…

Zoe Westin may be a fire captain’s daughter, but feeding the people in her hometown of Fairview is her number one priority. Running a soup kitchen is also the perfect way to prove to her dad that helping people doesn’t always mean risking life and limb. But when she's saddled with a gorgeous firefighter doing community service after yet another daredevil stunt, the kitchen has never been so hot.

Alex Donovan thrives on adrenaline, and stirring a pot of soup doesn’t exactly qualify. He’s not an expert at following the rules either, not even when they come from the stubborn, sexy daughter of the man who's not only his boss, but his mentor. Determined to show Zoe that not every risk ends in catastrophe, Alex challenges her both in the kitchen and out. One reckless step leads to another, but will falling for each other be a risk worth taking, or will it just get them burned?
