WAITING…TO FALL IN LOVE
Stepping onto her estranged father's Colorado ranch, Brooke Harper hopes to find the missing piece of the puzzle that's left a hole in her heart—her long-lost sister. But the Bucking Q Ranch is deserted…except for the tall and rugged cowboy, Trent Landry, who is taking care of the place while the owners are away. She's determined to wait until the family she's never met returns home… And Trent will keep an eye on the mysterious Brooke until he finds out if she is telling the truth about finding her sister. Spending time alone with her, watching her take to ranch life as if she's a natural, he realizes she is definitely not a threat—except maybe to his heart.
Count on a Cowboy is a sweet and easy story to read, with minimum amount of drama and angst, even though the topic could have provided plenty of that.
Being separated from her father and twin sister when she was four months old, is news to Brooke. She has had a loveless, tough childhood, she has grown into an independent and resilient young woman, who is used to deal with life's storms by herself. Out of her mother's request, Brooke goes looking for her twin sister, but what she finds instead, is a handsome ex-soldier cowboy. I liked how Brooke and Trent had the opportunity to get to know each other, and spent time together before she met her family. They are rather adorable together, they like each other, they have a great time together, the attraction is obvious, and her enthusiasm about the ranch life is contagious. The story flows smoothly, and Trent and Brooke such a joy, when riding and dining together. They both have their pain and burden to carry. Trent has guilt over his brother's death, even guilt of not being there for his father before he died. Brooke never had it easy with her mother, and her selfish behavior, having to work from an early age, to provide food for herself, to take care of herself, instead of being taken care of by her mother. Life hasn't been easy for them, but with each other, they find peace and joy in a very short time. Now, if only Brooke's family wouldn't keep them apart. The character's are delightful and engaging, the surroundings are beautiful and alluring, and the plot has just enough spice to make a clever and pleasurable tale. ~ Four Spoons

Knights in Black Leather #2 By: Ronnie Douglas Releasing February 23, 2016 William Morrow ![]()
The second novel in Ronnie Douglas’ sexy Southern Wolves motorcycle club series—reminiscent of Kristen Ashley and Jay Crownover—tells the story of an aspiring fashion designer and a biker who discover a desire that knows no limits.
When the daughter of one of the Southern Wolves gets a flat in the middle of a thunderstorm, there’s only one thing to do—strip down to her underwear and get a little muddy. But when Alamo, the sexy biker shows up to rescue Ellen yet again, things are bound to get a whole lot dirtier. Between the trouble he left behind and club rules, Alamo knows he needs to stay clear of Ellen. He’s not looking for a woman or complications—even when that woman is everything a man could want. Unfortunately, Ellen isn’t playing by anyone’s rules but her own these days, and a Southern woman who’s been raised by Wolves is awfully hard to deny. So when they give in to their raging attraction, both get much more than they bargained for.
Alamo stood in the middle of a sea of boxes that filled his new house. He was no stranger to moving. Growing up, he’d been rousted from his bed more times than he could count to move to a new place in the middle of the night. His mother would let the back rent build up as far as she could, and then they’d skip out. Mix in a few turns in foster care over the years when she was arrested, and he’d become something of a pro at traveling light and moving quickly. This time, though, he was moving everything he’d accumulated over several years of stability. He had absolutely no desire to put it to rights in a new place.
Truth be told, this new house was the nicest place he’d ever lived. It wasn’t home, though. Home was a modest-sized apartment in Durham, North Carolina. Home was having his sister Zoe in the house, badly imitating his Spanish cusswords and singing like a cat in a surly mood—and he missed it. He’d lost that right when he’d lost his temper. He knew it, but that didn’t make it any less frustrating. He’d done the right thing, and there wasn’t a minute of it that he regretted. The man deserved every punch, but that was neither here nor there. Truth didn’t change facts, and the facts were that Alamo was a big man, and his long-gone father wasn’t as white as his mama had been. Race shouldn’t matter, but sometimes having darker skin still did, especially in a city where drug traffic was as common as it was in Durham. The police tended to blame it on one segment of the population, those with darker skin. He was a large man with darker skin. To add to that, once the police saw the motorcycle club patches on his jacket, Alamo was far too likely to end up in jail if he stayed in North Carolina. This time they had a reason of sorts. He had put that pendejo in the hospital. And an uptown white boy in his expensive clothes could afford the sort of lawyers who twisted truth until it looked nothing like reality. Alamo knew it, had known it before he’d taken the first swing. Sometimes, though, a man had to stand up for a woman regardless of the cost. Zoe’s friend had no one else to stand up for her, so Alamo did what needed doing. It was that simple. “You can’t just do that!” Zoe snapped at him when he’d walked into the little apartment they shared. “I might not be a kid, but I still don’t need my brother in the lockup.” “He hurt Ana.” “You are not the law, Alejandro. You wear that jacket”—she pointed at the vest with the Southern Wolves patches prominently displayed—“and you forget that you’re not above the law.” “Lobita,” he started. “Don’t you ‘little wolf’ me, mister!” His sister’s hands landed on their customary position on her hips. She was a tiny little thing, but she had the attitude of a dozen girls. “If you end up in jail, I’ll . . . I’ll find someone big enough to kick your ass. Then where will you be, eh?” Alamo bowed his head, as much to hide his smile as to let her know he was listening to her chastisement. “You call Nicky, you hear me? You find out where you can move because you’re not staying here. That boy . . . he has friends. I don’t want this to get worse.” “Lobita . . .” “No! You call your Wolves, and you move. We talked about it for next year, anyhow. Clean start.” Zoe took a shaky breath, let it out, and looked at him. “Ana says thank you and that she’s okay. She’s . . . sorry.” “Don’t need to be sorry. She did nothing wrong, Zoe. You make sure she gets that.” His hands fisted despite his intention to keep calm, and the already bloodied knuckles smarted. Alamo might not have had a father most of his life, but he knew what a man was supposed to be like just the same. Growing up, he’d just studied what his mother’s long list of lovers did. Whatever they did, he did the opposite. That was all the guidance he’d needed. That was why Alamo went after the buttoned-up man-boy who’d gotten Ana drunk and taken what wasn’t his right to take. “Call Nicky,” Zoe said, and then she turned away. “And put ointment on those cuts.” She was right. Being the stand-in parent for Zoe had always been harder because she was right more often than not. Her excesses of common sense made her awfully hard to handle. Of course it also meant that it was less worrisome to leave her behind with Ana. She’d be okay; he knew that. Both of the Díaz siblings were survivors. So far there hadn’t been any charges filed, and the jackass who hurt Ana claimed never to have seen Alamo’s face. He did see Alamo’s jacket, though, and it was best for everyone if there was no reason for the police to be looking too closely at the Wolves. The local chapter president, Nicky, agreed with Zoe, so he’d made a call to another chapter. Within forty-eight hours, Alamo’s things had been boxed, and he was in Tennessee. Between a move and a stay in jail, moving was a better choice—but that still didn’t mean Alamo was happy with it. He looked around the cluttered house. Boxes and furniture sat in a jumble, but he needed to get out. Being here, being alone with his thoughts, wasn’t going to do anything but make him think about the mess he’d gotten mixed up in. He didn’t regret it. He didn’t think he was wrong to defend Ana. That didn’t mean the consequences were easy to take. He walked outside, pulled the door shut behind him, and headed to the bar that the Tennessee chapter frequented. Getting to know his new brothers was the best thing he could do now. The Southern Wolves were the only family he had other than Zoe, and while Zoe would visit, she was still in North Carolina while she finished up her college degree. By the time he pulled his Harley into the parking lot of Whiskey & Wolves, he felt more like himself. All he needed was to stay focused. No distractions. No trouble. No fights unless they were ordered by the club. He had to focus on his job, the Wolves, and not let himself get invested in anyone else’s life. He could keep his distance from everyone. That was the one surefire way to keep his temper under control. No more bad habits. No more mistakes—regardless of how good the reason for them was. Tennessee was going to be the beginning of a new lifestyle, one that would keep him out of trouble and able to build a stable home for his sister once she finished college.

Claiming his child…at any cost
A shocking fertility clinic mix up has resulted in Luca Moretti fathering a child with a woman he never met. There’s no way the CEO will walk away from his baby girl. But he has thirty days to convince her distractingly beautiful mother to do exactly what he wants. Widow Claire Douglas is still reeling from the loss of her husband when she discovers a stranger has fathered her child. And that rich bachelor will stop at nothing to gain joint custody. How can she possibly fight a man with such money and power…and a charm she can’t resist?
Interesting, different kind of set up in the story, somehow it sounds like the worst nightmare for anyone using a fertility clinic, I would imagine.
I loved the big, loud, curious, Italian family, how they just took their place in the novel, was outrageously fun. And the whole story is filled with passion and abundant with love towards family. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the beach life they were living, the Italian food they were consuming, and the joy of discovering an impossible dream come true. Luca is adorable with little Eva, they obviously enjoy each other and have the bond from the first moment they meet. Claire and Luca have attraction, also from the first moment they meet. And that is rather awkward, since it is with their lawyers. I liked that there was more to the story, for both of them, Luca and Claire, than what just meets the eye. There were old disappointments, hurt, pain, and sorrow, not with each other, but in both of their pasts. They both dealt with the issues on their own way, and shared with each other as they got to know each other. I liked how Claire stood up for herself, and seemed to get more steam under her wings as the story moved on. I wish there would have been just a bit more details into their relationship, little more details, to make it more believable. An entertaining, fun, quick read, with some deeper issues to be dealt with, loving family to meddle in the affairs, and endless summer days at the warm beach ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side ![]()
ANYTHING FOR HER CHILD
After someone attempts to abduct her daughter, single mom Zoe Collier flees to a remote ranch for safety. But when the would-be kidnappers follow them to Wrangler's Corner, Zoe must figure out why somebody wants Sophia. Local vet Aaron Starke is determined to help Zoe investigate—and to keep his intriguing new neighbors safe. Zoe's used to relying on her own wits to survive. But quick-witted, caring Aaron is just the type of man she needs in her corner. And he might be her partner for keeps…if they can find the truth without losing their lives. Wrangler's Corner: Family comes first
Fast paced action through the story kept me glued into the book, the tension, danger, and threat never let up, the pieces of the puzzle are revealed through the tale, as the story unfolds, the reality of the terror sets in, and lives are in peril.
This is one of those stories, that you get so submerged in it, you lose the sense of time. The action is constant, the fear is palpable, and clues to solve the mystery of the attackers are rare. I liked the tone of the story, how it unfolds so smoothly, flowing nicely through the pages. The characters are easy to relate to, they are honest, reliable, caring, and protective. They also had more depth to them than I first expected, hidden layers of hurt and life lessons, that had molded them to be the people they are today. I liked how the whole small town rallied around to protect Zoe and Sophia, even though they were new in town. Aaron is such a solid, down to earth person. He is open and honest about his feelings, he isn't shy about his intentions, he listens, is supportive, and doesn't judge. Together with Zoe, and Sophia, the three already seem to make a solid unit, a family of sort, even before any commitment is made. Zoe has been struggling with her faith, her life has been hard, and she is angry with God, for losing so many loved ones around her. As the danger intensifies, she has to open her heart and mind, and see that God hasn't abandoned her, but has walked with her, every step of the way. I loved the author's style to keep the story going, the trouble at the door, while in a natural and fitting way, gave the readers a beautiful story of love, redemption, and faith, including humor, life lessons, and small town living. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side ![]()
He's the hottest MMA fighter in the game, but one woman is ready to try out a few steamy moves of her own in an unforgettable new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster...
With the life he's led and the muscles he's gained, Armie Jacobson isn't afraid of anything. Except maybe Merissa Colter's effect on him. It's not just that she's his best friend's little sister. Fact is, she deserves better. Women pursue him for one night of pleasure, and that's all he wants to offer. Until rescuing Merissa from a robbery leads to the most erotic encounter of his life. Good girl meets bad boy. It's a story that rarely ends well. But Merissa is taking matters into her own hands. No matter how he views himself, the Armie she knows is brave, honorable and completely loyal. And as past demons and present-day danger collide, they're both about to learn what's truly worth fighting for…
I have really gotten into the MMA books lately, even though I know nothing about the sport, and I'm not into any kind of violence. Go figure. But with this book, I am a bit on the fence about it.
I liked Armie and Merissa together, how they both had had a crush on each other for a long time, but were revealing it, or acting up on it until now. That made the connection between them somehow sweeter, and more meaningful. They were hot together, their passion for each other was boundless, the need to take care of each other, to protect each other was adorable. What I had a little problem with, or didn't understand why it was brought in with such detail, was Armie's past with other countless, a multitude of women. It was understood from the beginning, that his appetite was endless, but the details brought up several times, in my opinion, was not necessary. Merissa wasn't comfortable with the other women, that were still around, and for some reason Armie couldn't just tell them all he was taken, and to leave the scene. He said he did it to protect Merissa, but it seemed to hurt her more. The other thing I wasn't a fan of, was the 'I'm not worthy' attitude. If Armie's best friend, Merissa's brother is fine with it, why is he still having the anxiety because of it? I enjoy the family of heart they have at the rec center, the way they stood up for each other, supported and protected each other is commendable. There's a great mix of friends, romance, and sports in the story, also giving spice is the suspense, the attacks towards Merissa, that Armie believes are because of his past, making him want to keep his distance to Merissa. Overall, the story is good, it has a nice flow, it has a great balance of interesting elements, and high heat factor. The characters are likeable, I did connect with them on the emotional level, and was rooting for them, as the story unfolds, and found them entertaining. ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
The Sweetest Chase
Heart of the Storm #2 By: Sharla Lovelace Releasing February 23, 2016 Montlake ![]()

Even though she’s secretly had the hots for Simon Chase forever. But he’s her best friend’s brother and her coworker . . . off-limits even if she were single. So she’s marrying the man who should be her perfect match—and that’s that.
Simon Chase’s life revolves around his family’s storm-chasing business. The meteorologist of the bunch, he’d rather be out in the weather than reporting it—especially if Quinn Parker is along to photograph the run. He’s been hiding his crush on her for a long time, and it’s only intensified. But she’s marrying someone else—and that’s that. Or is it? When a Chase family wedding sets the stage for body temperatures to rise and the pressure of Quinn’s impending wedding to build, a new reality breaks. Quinn and Simon discover their unrequited affections have been mutual all along. When the gathering storm of their attraction finally reaches its peak, will it leave their lives in shambles? Or will they find shelter in each other?
It’s mutual, by the way.
No sentence had ever messed him up more. Until today, he would have argued that point to the moon and back. Quinn was engaged to someone else and had never given any indication that she felt otherwise. Until today, she always treated him just like the rest of his family. Didn’t she? Until today. Didn’t she? Shit, he had no idea. Simon rubbed at his eyes, suddenly wanting to scrub his whole brain. The way she’d looked at him—the way she’d acted around him—he thought he was just imagining things, but then Stacey said— Fuck. And then that waiting for someone to stop her comment. He was done. He was useless. Simon had spent the last two years she’d sported that ring telling himself it was all for the best. That Quinn was meant for better things, a better life—a better man. That what he felt for her was just physical attraction, just like every other woman in his life. He didn’t allow anything else to play around with his logic, there was no point. She was in love with Eric St. James. She was taken. She was-- she wasn’t his. Period. And then today happened. What the hell made today happen? Made her look at him that way, created that damn vortex that sucked them in? Suddenly, all that was concrete and solid was now made of fucking Jello. Quinn was getting married in a month. Or waiting for someone to stop her. ![]()

Lady Bridget's Diary
Keeping Up with the Cavendishes #1 By: Maya Rodale Releasing February 23, 2016 Avon ![]()
In the first hilarious entry in her brand new series, USA Today bestselling author Maya Rodale re-invents a love story we all know and cherish.
Lord Darcy is the epitome of perfect Lord Darcy is the quintessential Englishman: wealthy, titled, impossibly proper and horrified that a pack of Americans have inherited one of England’s most respected dukedoms. But his manners, his infamous self-restraint and better judgment fly out the window when he finds himself with the maddening American girl next door. Lady Bridget is the opposite of perfect Lady Bridget Cavendish has grand-but thwarted-plans to become a Perfect Lady and take the haute ton by storm. In her diary, Bridget records her disastrous attempts to assimilate in London high society, her adoration of the handsome rogue next door, her loathing of the Dreadful Lord Darcy and some truly scandalous secrets that could ruin them all. They cannot stand each other-and yet they cannot stay away It was loathing at first sight for Lady Bridget and Lord Darcy. But their paths keep crossing...and somehow involve kissing. When Lady Bridget’s diary goes missing, both Darcy and Bridget must decide what matters most of all-a sterling reputation or a perfectly imperfect love.
Oceans crossed: 1
Sisters who plagued me the entire journey: 2 Brothers who suddenly became a duke: 1 Fearsome duchesses: 1 Lady Bridget’s Diary London, 1824 Durham Residence The Ballroom One would think that having one’s brother inherit a dukedom was a stroke of good fortune that would transform their lives from ho-hum to utterly fantastic. One would think that until one was on a reducing diet, stuffed into a tightly laced corset, and forced to practice walking backward. “Once again, Lady Bridget,” the duchess said crisply. She was Lady Bridget Cavendish now. Before she had just been Bridget Cavendish of Duncraven farm in Maryland. But then a letter had arrived one day, with the unexpected news that James was now a duke and they were all to leave everything behind and travel to England, immediately. “Yes Lady Bridget, once more please,” Amelia said with a smirk. “Do shut up, Amelia,” Bridget said, under her breath. Younger sisters were quite annoying, on any continent. “It’s ‘Do shut up, Lady Amelia,’” Claire, the oldest sister, corrected. She found all the formality as ridiculous as the rest of their family, much to the despair of the duchess. Somewhere about the massive house—probably in the stables, even though the duchess made it perfectly clear dukes were above mucking about in the stables—was her brother, James. Or, as he was now to be known, His Grace, the Duke of Durham. Dukes had many responsibilities, it seemed, but walking backward in a gown with an excessively long train was not one of them. Before her, with sharp blue eyes and perfectly coiffed blond hair, was Josephine Marie Elizabeth Cavendish, Her Grace, the Duchess of Durham, widow of the previous duke, and aunt to the Cavendish siblings. One did not call her Josie. Amelia had asked. “Remind me why we are learning to do something as ridiculous as walk backward?” Claire asked. From a young age, she had spent her free hours devoted to the study of mathematics, otherwise known as Important Work. Bridget’s head ached just to think about it. “It is for your presentation at court,” the duchess replied. “Which is necessary before your debut in society, which you must do in order to find a husband, which a lady must do, lest she become an impoverished spinster.” “What if we do not wish for a husband?” Amelia asked. “What a silly question,” the duchess replied. “Lady Bridget, once again.” At the duchess’s request, Bridget sank into a curtsy. They had practiced this extensively on Tuesday afternoon. Then, with as much grace as she could muster, Bridget rose and began to elegantly glide backward. Or so she tried; feats of grace did not come easily to her (a point upon which their dancing instructor would absolutely agree). Nothing about being a True Lady did. Bridget had daydreamt through lessons on the order of precedence amongst members of the haute ton, how to properly pour a cup of tea, and all the other lessons on etiquette and deportment they endured morning, noon, and night. “Now Lady Amelia, it is your turn.” While the duchess’s attention was focused on her sisters, Bridget took advantage of her distraction to continue walking backward until she had crossed the length of the ballroom, then she continued through the large double doors and halfway down the corridor, at which point she turned, lifted her skirts, and proceeded to the kitchens. Reducing diet, deportment lessons, and True Lady-ness be damned. ![]()

Hoping for a relaxing flight, Wolf was pleasantly surprised at the good conversation and sense of humor the woman had as they flew 36,000 feet over the countryside. When Caroline boarded the plane to Virginia to move across the country for her new job she never expected to be seated next to the hottest guy she’d ever seen. She also never expected he’d be so easy to talk to. From PROTECTING CAROLINE by Susan Stoker
Caroline leaned close to him and cautioned in a soft urgent voice, “Something’s wrong with the ice. I can smell it. It smells off, like something’s in it.” Wolf picked up his drink again and raised it to his face. He could see Caroline wanted to stop him, but she didn’t. Pretending to take a sip he smelled it as she had… nothing. He couldn’t detect anything but the orange juice that was in the cup. He looked at her and said softly, “I don’t smell anything.” Caroline was frustrated. She could tell Matthew wanted to believe her, but when he hadn’t noticed anything off about his drink, he was having a hard time. She looked away. Great, now he thought she was nuts. But she wasn’t. She was a chemist dammit, and this is what she did for a living. There was some other chemical in with the drink, she knew it. But how would she convince him without sounding crazy? She turned back to Matthew, only to see him still looking at her. “What is it?” he demanded softly. “Explain, so I can understand.” Caroline’s respect for Matthew rose. He wasn’t sure he should believe what she was saying, but he was smart enough to give her time to convince him, and she knew she’d have to explain it in a way he could understand. Caroline knew she had to get through to him and did her best to convince him she knew what she was talking about. Lowering her voice even further so the people around them wouldn’t hear her, she leaned into him and looked him in the eyes as she spoke. “I don’t know, but as a chemist I’m trained to pick up on the different chemical smells of compounds. I don’t know what it is, but it’s not natural.” “Is it in mine too?” he asked her just as softly, passing his cup over to her. She sniffed it and immediately nodded. “Shit,” Wolf said under his breath. He believed her. He wasn’t a person to trust easily, but this woman didn’t have any guile in her at all. She’d have no reason to lie to him.

See You at Sunset
Seashell Bay # 3 By: V.K. Sykes Releasing February 23, 2016 Forever / Grand Central ![]()
DEEPER THAN ANY OCEAN . . .
All Holly Tyler wants is a fantastic career, a not-too-committed relationship, and a city where there are no painful memories. Instead, she's called back to her hometown of Seashell Bay to help with her family's struggling general store. It's a town where everyone knows everyone, and where one man could sink Holly's careful plans. Deputy Sheriff Micah Lancaster has wanted Holly for as long as he can remember. He knows she has a life on the mainland-and a boyfriend-and that there's no real future with her. But now Holly is back and the attraction still flickers between them, a promise of something more. Their desire is stronger than any undertow . . . and once it pulls them under, it won't let go.
She stood poised at the top of the ladder, where she’d stood countless times before. Holly had no fear of the ocean, having jumped and dived off Seashell Bay docks and piers all through her childhood. She’d never suffered anything worse than a black eye Brett Clayton inadvertently gave with his elbow as he surfaced beside her.
After a quick glance down at Micah, who was staring up at her with his mouth hanging open, she aimed a little to his right and launched herself into a dive. She came up spitting salt water and shrieking. The water was not warm—it was freaking cold. “You lied about the water, you rat,” she yelped. He swam closer. “Since when did you become such a wimp?” he teased. Holly splashed water at him. “Officers of the law are supposed to always tell the truth.” Micah gave her a sly grin. “Are you still cold?” She didn’t miss the heated intent in his gaze. You are so playing with fire, Holly. But she didn’t care—not tonight anyway. “Am I still shivering?” she scoffed. “I can fix that.” He pulled her in, plastering her against that wet, gorgeous chest of his. Holly couldn’t resist. Didn’t want to resist, because it felt too damn good—better than anything she’d felt in a very long time. She snaked her arms around Micah’s shoulders and treaded water along with him. “Does that help?” he whispered in her ear. His bristly chin brushed against her cheek, making her shiver even harder. “You have no idea,” she choked out. “Mmm, wrap your legs around my waist, babe. Then you can just float with me.” She was vaguely aware that he was pulling her with him, but didn’t fully realize what was happening until he turned and gently pressed her against one of the dock’s pilings. Micah’s arms protected her back from rubbing against the rough, moss-covered wooden post. He pulled her close, and the filmy fabric of her bra was like nothing against the rock-hard heat of his chest. Her nipples, already stiff from the cold water, ached with a delicious heat from the contact. When she sucked in a startled breath, one of his hands slid down to her ass and he kissed her hard. She didn’t even try to close her lips, taking him right in. And, dear sweet Jesus, did he ever taste wonderful. She’d dreamed about kissing him for so long. And not the friendly, quick kiss on the cheek or the occasional peck on the lips they’d shared as friends. She’d wanted this. Hot, glorious, messy, and so damn passionate that it blasted every rational thought from her brain. She’d wanted Micah’s tongue sweeping into her mouth, his lips devouring hers like he’d never wanted anything more in his life than what they were doing right now.
A sweet and sunny story with a twist of sexy, and drizzle of suspense.
A lovely, heartfelt, and warm story from the Seashell Bay. It filled my mind with dreams of warm days, cool ocean, and sunny skies. This is a great escape romance, if you are looking for a few hours away from the cold, wet, and snow. The tale gives a look at the local peoples lives, as they are trying to find the balance of traditions of the island, and going forward, and accepting change. The readers get a glimpse of the life of a person buying coffee at the store, the little problems the police runs into, to the pill stealing thief, who is making the islanders feel unsafe at their little haven. Holly and Micah have been close friends all their lives, the physical attraction between them has been there for years, but never acted upon, or even talked about. Holly's life has been elsewhere since she was nineteen, and coming back to the island only for summer breaks, hasn't given much chance for a relationship, not to mention Holly was married, and then later on dating. But now the attraction is steaming, it is hotter than ever, and impossible to fight against. Micah is the perfect gentleman, he is kind, helpful, considerate, protective, passionate and sexy, there's nothing negative to say about him. Holly is still trying to deal with the sorrow and heartache from her husband's death five years ago. To survive the pain, she pushed it aside for so long, focusing only on her work and career. Her on/off casual relationship with Jackson gave her the chance to pretend she was moving on in life. But now, face to face with Micah once again, she has to confront her old daemons, decide what really makes her happy, what her priorities are, and where she wants to go, and end up, in life. Lots of tough topics to ponder, while taking care of her aunt's general store on the island, and helping Micah catch the thieves of the pills and jewelry. Delightful, captivating, and luscious, sunny story, filled with good friends, family, romance, and life as it is at the Seashell Bay. So sit back, and let it take you away for awhile.. ~ Four Spoons ![]()

Recovered Innocence #2 By: Beth Yarnall Releasing February 23, 2016 Loveswept ![]()
Beth Yarnall’s sexy and emotional Recovered Innocence series continues as two broken souls discover that keeping their hands off each other is even harder than facing their demons.
Beau: Six years. That’s how long I spent behind bars for a crime I didn’t commit—the murder of the woman I loved. Now I’m free, but life on the outside is a different kind of prison. I don’t know who I am or who I want to be. At least I have my sister, Cora. She never stopped believing in me. She even got me a job at the private investigation agency that cleared my name. And then Vera Swain walks into Nash Security and Investigations and kicks my world on its ass. Vera: There’s only one thing that would make me come out of hiding after two years on the run: finding my sister. I made the mistake of telling a monster about her, the same monster who beat me and broke me. Now I’m forced to confide in Beau Hollis of Nash Security and Investigations. He looks at me like he knows me—the real me. He sees too much, makes me feel too much. The pleasure he offers is exciting and addictive. But I can’t fall for him . . . because my love could get us both killed.
I walked out of the California Institute for Men in Chino, California, two thousand two hundred and seventy-one days—more than six years—after I walked in. I was finally free.
Free. I don’t have the same definition that most people have for that word. While I’m no longer serving a life sentence for a crime I didn’t commit, I’m far from free. The repercussions of my incarceration blasted every area of my life, pitting or obliterating everything in sight. There isn’t a single thing left unscarred. I don’t have a home. I don’t have friends. I don’t have a job or any qualifications to get one. I don’t have any money. I don’t have the same family I had on the day of my conviction. And I don’t have Cassandra. There’s a big gaping hole in me where she once lived. Of all the things that were taken from me, she’s the one thing I can never get back. I left her sleepy, naked, and sated in her bed almost seven years ago, stealing out of her apartment with other things on my mind, unimportant things. I had an early day the next morning and needed to get home. I bent down, kissed her forehead, told her I loved her, and left. I never saw her again. She was brutally raped and murdered that night. I haven’t been able to take a full breath since. Not because of my subsequent arrest and conviction for her murder. That was nothing. Well, not nothing. It was definitely something. But it’s not why I can’t pull in enough air. There’s a hole in my chest she used to fill. There’s too much space and I can’t imagine or even remember what it felt like to be whole. I’ve been walking around with this big, sucking chest wound since the night she died. I’m raw yet scarred over. Little things scratch at me, reopening the wound so it never truly heals. A song. The scent of jasmine. A movie. A joke. Her name. I haven’t been able to say her name out loud since I screamed it outside her apartment when her body was found and the place crawled with law enforcement personnel. I see her everywhere. I get a glimpse of her at least once a day. Every time I turn my head I have to remind myself it’s not her. It will never be her. I won’t get to hold her hand, have her lay her head on my chest the way she used to, or make love to her ever again. I can’t call her and tell her about the stupid things that happened to me that day. She won’t ever tilt her head up with the look in her eyes that was only for me. I haven’t laughed in so long I’m not sure if I remember how. My sister, Cora, thinks I should see someone, a grief counselor. I don’t want to. My grief is all I have left of Cassandra. Cora doesn’t understand that. No one does. I can’t explain it. There are no words for what it feels like to carry it everywhere. I’m pretty sure it’s the only thing holding me together. I walk around, going through the day-to-day of living, relying on those feelings to get me through. What would I have without them? Who would I be? I’m not the same man who left Cassandra’s apartment that night. I’ll never be him again. I shouldn’t be him. I sure as shit shouldn’t want to be him. And yet . . . Sometimes I wonder what it’s like to be normal. What would happen if I took off this mantle of grief and laid it down? Would I stop seeing Cassandra everywhere? Would the smell of a common flower stop reminding me of her unique scent? Would I forget what she sounded like, her laugh, and how she felt under me? Would I lose her all over again, this time forever? The air outside of prison not only smells different, it feels different. I’m not used to anything resembling normal life. I’m still on a prison schedule despite having been out a couple months now. My only rebellion is letting my hair and beard grow. I don’t know who that man in the mirror is. He’s rougher, harder than he was six years ago. He has scars and crude tattoos jabbed into his skin by makeshift prison tattoo guns. He looks like he doesn’t give a fuck about anyone or anything. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Cora arranged for me to come work with her. I think she’s hoping it will give me something to aspire to. I’m lost. I don’t recognize anyone or anything. I don’t know who or what I want to be. There was a time when everything I wanted to do and be was lined up in my head just waiting for me to tick them off like a fucking checklist. Go to college. Check. Get a good-paying job. Check. Marry Cassandra. Check. Buy a house. Check. Start a family. Check. Grow old with Cassandra. Check. None of those boxes will ever be crossed off. I have to create a new list. But where do I start? I’m twenty-four years old. I should be halfway through my checklist by now. Cora tells me I can do or be anything I want. She pushes community and technical college catalogs at me, trying to get me interested in something. At night I lie awake and attempt to imagine my life a year from now. All I see is me still lying on Cora’s couch, still struggling to figure my shit out. I’m frustrating her and myself. Maybe this Take Your Brother to Work Day will give me some kind of direction, even if it only helps me realize what I don’t want to do. ![]()

Stone Cold Cowboy
Montana Men #4 By: Jennifer Ryan Releasing February 23, 2016 Avon ![]()
The last thing rancher Rory Kendrick expects to find when he’s searching for his missing cattle is a genuine damsel in distress. After rushing to help, he can’t help wanting to do anything he can for this lovely but damaged woman. But even his kind deed won’t get Sadie to tell him who’s responsible for hurting her.
Sadie is trying to hold onto her family, and her life. With an ill father who’s refusing treatment and a younger brother who has fallen in with a dangerous crowd, she’s beginning to feel like she can’t save anyone, least of all herself. When her brother owes money to the wrong people, Sadie tries to pay off his debts, but she doesn’t have the cash. The one person who might be able to help her out is the last person she wants to involve in her family drama, but Rory won’t take no for an answer. Rory is all about family, but sometimes you’ve got to let go. If you can’t save them, save yourself. Sadie’s been dealt a bad hand she refuses to fold. Because he loves her, he’ll do anything to keep her safe and give her the happy life she deserves, even betray her trust to take down her brother.
Cold fear washed through her, stealing her every thought and breath. Her heart slammed into her ribs and stopped for a brief second. Her whole world halted as she stared up into eyes that held nothing but death.
“Kill her and I won’t make any more meth,” her brother yelled. Startled by her brother’s admission, Sadie glanced at Connor, caught the apologetic look, then stared back up into the devil dude’s flat eyes. “You’ll cook, or you’re dead. You owe me more than the price of those cattle.” “If I’m dead you get nothing. Don’t kill her.” The devil dude smiled. It frightened her more than anything he’d done so far. “Okay. I won’t kill her.” The easy acquiescence didn’t ease her mind. “Grab that wire and rope from my saddle,” he or- dered Scott. “We should get out of here. Those Kendricks come for their herd and we’re dead.” Scott tried to talk reason with the irrational devil dude. “Get it now.” The devil dude bit out the words. Scott jumped to do his bidding, beaten without ever really getting in the fight to save her. The devil dude clamped his hand on her aching jaw and shook her face. “No one fucks with me. If they do, they get what’s coming. You’re going to get your due.” Sadie wanted to run, but he had her on the ground, that damn knife at her neck, pressed so hard to her skin she felt a trickle of blood run down her throat where he cut her. His gaze fell on the blood. The slow smile that spread across his face disturbed her, but not as much as the lust that filled his dark eyes. Scott dropped the coiled barbed wire and rope next to her. Connor stood off to the side, pacing, biting at his thumb, his eyes filled with worry, but he didn’t come to her rescue, just kept gnawing on his already raw skin. “This is going to hurt, bitch.” The menacing words held a note of anticipation and enthusiasm that soured her stomach. He used his grip on her face to hold her down. He slid the knife into the sheath at his back, pulled a pair of wire cutters from his back pocket, and snipped a long length of wire from the coil. He held it up in front of her, set the tool down, took both her hands, and pulled them up in front of him. She bucked her hips and tried to pull free, but nothing worked to dislodge the big man from her body. “Let me go, asshole.” She tried to put as much bra- vado in her voice as she could conjure to hide her fear, but the tremble in her voice gave her away. “You asked for it.” He wrapped the wire around her wrists and in be- tween. The harder she tried to pull free, the tighter he wound. Panic rose in her chest, making it difficult to take a deep breath. Her chest heaved in and out. In another minute, she’d be hyperventilating. “Stop. Please. You’re hurting me.” “Ah, music to my ears.” The amusement in his eyes told her how much he enjoyed her fear and pain. “You sadistic son of a bitch.” “Yes, I am.” His eyes went bright with delight. The barbs bit into her skin. Blood trickled down her arms from multiple punctures. “Go get the horses while I finish here,” he ordered her brother. Tony and Scott scurried away without a word. The dread in their eyes when they snuck quick glances back told her how much they feared this man. “Leave her. You taught her a lesson. Let’s go,” Connor pleaded, pacing back and forth not even five feet away. “I thought letting her walk home in her underwear in the cold would have taught her a lesson about sticking her nose into things that don’t concern her. But your sister had to go and fuck with me.” The devil dude leaned down close and stared her in the eyes. “You kick me in the balls, bitch, I’ll make you bleed.” The whis- pered threat didn’t lessen the ominous reality that he meant it. He turned back to her brother and yelled, “Go get the horses. Hers too. We’re leaving.” Connor backed up several steps, then turned and walked away without sparing her a single look, let alone an apology for his cowardice. She expected it, but it still hurt, leaving a pit in her stomach and an ache that squeezed her chest tight. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes, but she blinked them away. Her brother had proven more times than she could count that he’d cover his own ass over anyone else’s, including his own sister’s. Her heart ached worse than her face, jaw, and bloody wrists combined. How could he just leave her here? How could he turn his back on her like this and live with himself?
When a story captures your mind, and heart, from the page one, and keep the hold, until you reach the last page, and it is the early morning hours, and you have smiled, and laughed, and sighed, and cries while reading it, you know you have something really special in your hands.
This story, it is so brutally beautiful, with the pain, sorrow, fear, and threat, mixed with joy, bliss, charm and wonder, it blew me away. The brothers of Kendrick are a delight. Their banter, and joking is fun and light, but there's no doubt they wouldn't stand up for each other at any given moment, if the need would arise. How they, and Sammy, embraces Sadie into their family unit, is priceless. Sadie's relationship with her ailing father is heartbreaking with its sadness and its love. The rare moments of clearness with her father, their conversations, filled with life lessons, had me in tears. Sadie's brother, with the addiction, crime, and danger, that he brought to all of their lives, was frustrating, scary, and creepy. The first five chapters of the book flew by, as I was biting my nails in agony to know what was going to happen next. And that intensity kept through the story, with constant elements of peril from the drug world, and the sweet, sweet feelings that were growing in between Sadie and Rory. Because what they share is something amazing. The connection is breathtaking, but also intimidating, because of the speed everything is happening. They know what they feel, they realize how lucky they are to have what they have with each other, but it all happens so fast, while so much drama in their lives, they are fearful to lose it all. I absolutely adore this story, the characters are alluring and charming, and won my heart over from the start. I felt the emotional connection to them, and was rooting for them. The love scenes between Rory and Sadie are beautiful, the romance between them enticing. The dangerous moments through the story were well built, and brought another level of intrigue to the tale. I did not want the story to end, and will definitely keep an eye out for the next books in the series ~ Five Spoons! ![]()

New York Times bestselling author Linda Goodnight welcomes you back home to Honey Ridge, Tennessee, with another beautiful story full of hope, haunting mystery, and the power to win your heart...
Famous yet anonymous, thriller writer Hayden Winters lives a life colored by lies. Deeply ashamed of his past, his hunger for an honest relationship and dreams of starting a family remain unsatisfied, and he can trust no one with his secrets. He's determined to outrun his personal demons, but the charming old Peach Orchard Inn and a woman whose presence is as gentle as a sparrow's song stops him in his tracks. Carrie Riley is afraid of everything from flying to thunderstorms, and pretty much of life itself. But meeting the enigmatic writer staying at the inn emboldens her to learn everything about him. When they discover a fragile boy hiding at the inn, Hayden is honor-bound to help Carrie protect him. Soon they're led to a centuries-old mystery that haunts Hayden's sleep, and his only safe haven is Carrie. As the secrets of the past and present force their lives to become entwined, all that's left to come to light is love—if the grim truth doesn't tear them apart first.
Intriguing two stories, twined together by history and the dream world.
The story is like a long stroll in the southern countryside, with warm sunny days, and families enjoying the lazy days in the garden. It is warm, and cozy, with a loving family, and life as we know it. Or so it seems at the first glance. But there's lots of undercurrents even in the small town, and Carrie, with her kind heart and loving nature, is ready to step in, and take care of the situation, in whatever capacity is needed. I liked Carrie, she has a huge heart, she sees the people around her, and takes care of them. She has been hurt in the past, she doesn't feel like she is anything special, quite the opposite, but when Hayden comes to town, a new Carrie comes to light, the Carrie Hayden sees. The beauty, grace, and loving nature that Hayden sees in her, gets behind the walls he has built. Soon they are sharing stories, life, and memories, even adventures, like with no one else before. They are rather adorable together, the way they care about Brody, look after him, and befriend him, is sweet. But for Hayden, it also brings back painful memories. Memories he has to keep hidden, to survive. Since arriving in town, Hayden has strange dreams, that seems to be connected to the history of the town he is visiting. Oddly, the two tales, one in present time, and the other in the past and in Hayden's dreams, fold out parallel to each other. This charming book about life in small, southern town, is filled with the healing powers of love, how the worst kind of abuse and neglect can be healed in the heart, how hope and joy will brighten the day, and the scariest night will feel peaceful and calm, when you have someone you love by your side. It made me long for the summer to come sooner... ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side ![]()
When Jamie Rutherford takes a temporary assignment as lieutenant of Boston Fire’s Engine 59, she doesn’t anticipate any problems. She’s been in the fire service for a long time and, even though she’s fairly new to Boston, she knows how to make any firehouse her home. What she’s not prepared for is her reaction to firefighter Scott Kincaid.
Scott is looking for a wife. It’s been a fun ride as a single guy, but he’s tired of being the third wheel, and nearly losing his brother-in-law finally made him realize just how much he wants a family of his own. When the new guy at the firehouse turns out to be a capable, confident and very attractive woman, his plan is completely derailed. Hooking up with a fellow firefighter has never been part of Jamie’s plan, but she’s tempted by Scott—even though getting involved with him could tarnish the reputation she’s worked so hard for. And Scott can’t stop thinking about Jamie, despite the fact that she’s his superior and not sticking around. Chemistry can crush the best-laid plans, though, and while Jamie and Scott might not be each other’s future…there’s no resisting the right now.
The cover makes promises, that the story delivers. Yes, it is a steaming hot love affair that develops between Scott and Jamie, but it is so much more than 'just that'.
I have fallen in love with this series, and it isn't because of the hot firefighters, well, at least not completely, but because they are good guys, they work hard, they take care of each other and their loved ones, they risk their lives for others safety, they love life, embrace it, and try to enjoy every minute of it. The family, Kincaid's, is tight, they stick together, and they show support, but aren't afraid to kick each other when needed. I loved how Jamie bonded with the sisters, like the three belong together. Even Tommy showed his best, softer side. I enjoy Shannon Stacey books, because the characters are easy to relate to, they have charisma, they love fiercely, they are everyday people like the rest of us, trying to make the best out of what we are given. They struggle with life at times, but somehow they work it out. The story will make you smile, even laugh out loud. Scott and Jamie are smoldering hot together, but they also share life with each other, the good and the bad. Working side by side is a challenge, and something they have to figure out, and that's when it turns ugly. And while they do that, it will break your heart a bit, because you will get emotionally attached to the characters. But that's where they need the big loving, supporting family, to kick them in the ass, or at least cry on their shoulder. Boston Fire is turning out to be one of those keepsake series, that you want to read over and over again, like the Kowalskis series from Shannon Stacey are. There's a lot of love, attraction, and affection, but also lots of family of heart and blood, joy as well as tears, and dangerous job situations where everyone's life is on the line, and kitty's in the tree, that makes it all fun. I'm already looking forward to the next one ~ Five Spoons |
