![]() MARKED BY KAYLEA CROSS Hostage Rescue Team Series When danger lurks behind a familiar face… Successful architect Rachel Granger loves her job and her life, but when a terrorist on the FBI’s most wanted list targets her, there’s only one man she can trust. She hasn’t seen Jake in years but her former college friend told her he’d always be there for her and she definitely needs him now. Even though her feelings for him go far deeper than friendship and just being around him risks her heart, she would do anything to keep those she loves safe from a madman bent on unleashing hell. Only one man from her past can help FBI Special Agent Jake Evers made the biggest mistake of his life when he let Rachel slip through his fingers over two years ago. It doesn’t matter that he hasn’t seen her since then—if she needs him, he’ll be there. When he learns that she’s the target of a domestic terror cell, he’ll do everything in his power to keep her safe. He’s never gotten over her and won’t risk losing her again now that she’s reappeared in his life. But the threat is more widespread than they realized and now it’s a race against time to keep her and scores of innocent civilians alive. I'm I huge Kaylea Cross fan. After I finished all the three series; Titanium Security, Bagram Special Ops, and Suspense Series, I called her the Queen of Suspense on a tweet. Kaylea Cross writes suspense that keeps me on the edge. The action in it self is sharp as a knife, I'm literally biting my nails, on the edge of my seat, the tale so vivid that I feel like I'm there myself. The psychological tension, the build up keeps me hooked to the story. In the stories we get the actual touch of the evilness, when part of the tale is told by the villain. The characters, who are appealing and charismatic, are true alpha males and independent, professional, kick-ass women, but they are not perfect. They are humans, with flaws and weaknesses. But despite them, or because of them, they find a way to each others hearts. The love stories are beautiful and leave me in tears. Marked happens on US soil, and was riveting, had me up half the night. There is a great balance between suspense and romance, twists and turns that keeps the interest up. I liked that Rachel and Jake admitted their feelings, were willing to work on them, and try to find a way to a future together. The heat is up, a very passionate, but at the same time sweet and endearing, story. The suspense was as edgy and tense as always. And to get the story of Jake, whom was first introduced in the Titanium Security series, with a promise of more to come -- Now, that just makes me happy!
