Cole Tanner doesn’t do Christmas.

Joy Holliday believes in miracles. She sees hummingbirds everywhere, and believes they are tiny messengers from Heaven. Despite losing her husband four years ago, she is determined not to dwell on the past, but to look to the future. Her entire world revolves around taking care of her daughter, Piper, and ensuring she has a magical Christmas. In Glacier Creek she finds Cole, a man still smarting from the wounds of his past, determined to keep happiness at arms’ length. Can she save Christmas and show him the promise of a future with her?
If you love romance and enjoy the Christmas season and still believe in the magic of it, in the miracles, and possibilities of better tomorrows you are going to love A Hummingbird Christmas!
It has all the traditions and family fun that often is associated with the holiday season. It has puppies, adorable kids, generations celebrating together, and a small town filled with intriguing characters that you want to get to know better. And most of all, it has heartwarming, touching, sizzling hot romance that melted my heart. Joy Holliday and Cole Tanner are so perfect together, they just fit, they get each other. The chemistry between them is spicy and fervent, the connection natural and tangible, the attraction obvious even in the eyes of a child. Joy has built her life around her daughter after the tragic death of her husband. Her kind heart, considerate and generous mind, and love for her daughter lights her eyes and makes her easy to like and care for. Cole's life took a turn at a young age when he was abandoned by his single-parent dad. The Holliday family embraced the young man as their own, and he grew up to be a talented, smart and kind man. The wounds from his childhood are still sore, but for the first time, he will consider celebrating Christmas, if it is with the two ladies who have stolen his heart with the first look, Joy and her daughter. This story made me smile and sigh and swoon and put some holiday cheer into my heart. The story captures the essence of the spirit of Christmas. It gives hope, inspiration, and even has that touch of the magic that comes with childhood belief of all things are possible on Christmas ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

A Matter of Circumstance
by Michelle Deschenes
Genre: Historical Romance
It is 1816 and twenty-one-year-old Julianne Smith is anxious to depart from her guardians’ luxurious household and set out on her own. Even with all her grand ideas seemingly within reach, Julianne never foresees the turn of events that are about to irrevocably transform her life. Captain Charles Dorchester is a handsome, honourable man with few worries now that the war is behind him. When fate leads him to rescue the passengers of a stagecoach after it is robbed somewhere between London and Birmingham, he has no idea that inside is a woman with the power to turn his life upside down. As Julianne’s path intertwines with his, neither can deny their attraction to each other. But as a fierce passion and love blooms between them, Julianne is left in the midst of an internal struggle that prompts betrayal, fears, and consequences. In this historical romance, an independent woman becomes embroiled in a passionate love affair with a military captain that leads her to realize the influence of fate.
Prologue
London, 1871 A candle flickered on the bedside table, casting a glow about the dark chamber. The dim light outlined the old woman’s withered face and wisps of white hair. In a plain grey dress, she sat upon the edge of the bed where her husband lay so miserably frail and weak. His features were gaunt, and his skin was grey and translucent. He was dying. It had been days since he’d last uttered a word or had been the least bit coherent. To think death’s door could bring a strong and powerful man to such a state stood as a vivid reminder of how little power one ultimately had in the larger scheme of life. Undeniably, he had always been a man of great strength and staunchly set in his ways. Stubborn as an old mule, she used to say. Though, to be honest, she’d been no better. Indeed, their obstinacy and determination had very nearly cost them a lifetime together. Her eyes slid over her hands tightly clasped around his cold fingers. At one time her hands had been so beautiful and graceful. Now they lay stippled with liver spots and crooked from rheumatism that had ailed her for years. Tears rimmed her tired eyes as she squeezed his hand with a glimmer of hope that he’d awaken, turn to her, and assure her, as he always had, that everything would be fine. However, in her heart of hearts, she knew this time it would not be so. It simply hurt to breathe. How could it be that they were old? How could it be that their lives had passed them by so very quickly? With six children, fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, they bore the evidence of a long, fruitful and extraordinary life. If only it did not have to come to an end. She supposed it selfish of her to think thusly. After all, not many people could claim such a wonderful and well-lived life as she and her beloved. Times were different now. There was a lost innocence in the people of this day, an innocence that had been so sweet and charming in its time was now seen as silly and frivolous. And she supposed it had been. However, it had been an endearing time to live and to love. They’d been blessed with a charmed life, filled with love and happiness. Not to say they’d not had their share of trials and tribulations. Goodness no. But somehow they had managed to make it through together. Smiling down at her husband, she reminisced about the years gone by and contemplated how very extraordinary life could be. What an enigma it truly was and how a matter of circumstance could alter one’s life forever.

One bad boy. One good girl. One unforgettable week…
Angelle Prejean is in a pickle. Her family is expecting her to come home with a fiancé—a fiancé who doesn’t exist. Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. Tattooed, muscled, and hotter than sin, Cane can reduce Angelle to a hot mess with one look—and leave her heart a mess if she falls for him. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiancé problem. Cane Robicheaux is no one’s prince. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t fall in love. When sweet, sultry-voiced Angelle propositions him, he hopes their little game can finally get her out of his head. He doesn’t expect her to break through all his barriers. But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.
Angelle stopped beside a folding table boasting boxes of fresh, crispy cracklins and selected a thick piece. Cane watched, mesmerized, as she puckered those gorgeous lips and blew on the sliver. With a flirtatious glint in her eyes, she held it up to his mouth, and he opened.
Holy crap. He’d had cracklins before. Fried pork fat was a standard gas station treat, usually shrinkwrapped and stale as shit. But this, fresh from the pot and piping hot, was unbelievable. Cane widened his eyes, and it was possible he even moaned. It was thatgood. And as he swallowed, Angel rewarded him with a rich, throaty laugh. “Ca c’est bon?” she asked, grinning when he grabbed another handful. He touched her nose and popped a piece in his mouth. “Good would be an understatement.” Grinning, she took a fried morsel for herself and sent the balding, overweight gentleman tending the table a wink. “Now that’s what we like to hear.” Then she closed her eyes as she savored the treat. The sounds of Angel moaning, and watching her face soften in the throes of a foodgasm, had to be the sexiest damn thing Cane had ever seen. His pants tightened, embarrassingly so considering he knew the audience was still watching, but what pushed him over the edge was when her eyes opened. The pleasure in them was his undoing. Feeling the weight of the crowd’s disapproving stares and not giving a damn, figuring now was as good a time as any to give the people the show they clearly wanted, he grasped her hip and tugged her forward, pausing only to inhale her gasp of surprise before brushing her mouth with his. It was like setting off a damn forest fire. Angelle, his shocking little hellcat, pounced. Forgetting all about their audience, or maybe not giving a damn either, she wound her arms around his neck, lifted onto her toes, and kissed him back with everything she had. Cane had intended to steal a quick taste, take the edge off his craving for her, and prove their point with the town’s people. But hell if he was gonna be the one to back down now. Tightening his grasp on her slim hips, he brushed his thumbs across the smooth, exposed skin near her waistband. He deepened the kiss, thrilling over her telltale shiver. Whimpering, she yanked on the hair at his nape and sucked his bottom lip into her mouth. Hot damn. Okay, now he had to start backing down. With all her male relatives watching, not to mention the knives and axes still lying around from the butchering earlier, if Cane valued his life, he needed to wrangle control of the situation. He’d heard patience was a virtue. That was a line of bull—he’d always sucked at waiting for anything he wanted. But for Angel, he was willing to try. Loosening his grip on her belt loops, Cane slowed the intensity of the kiss. He smoothed the hem of her shirt down, grazed her lips one last time, and, placing his forehead against hers, inhaled through his nose. Sunflowers mixed with cayenne may be his new favorite scent. Angelle released a heavy breath, a flush blooming on her cheeks. She darted a glance at the crowd, then looking into his eyes, grinned lazily. “My goodness. If anyone doubted we were a couple before, I guess that showed them.”

The Coltons of Shadow Creek series comes to a shocking Christmas climax in two heart-pounding stories
Special Agent Cowboy by Regan Black When hackers strike Colton, Inc., they put executive Marie Meyers in their crosshairs. FBI agent Emiliano Ortega is charged with protecting the beautiful city girl on his ranch. But keeping their mutual attraction professional under the mistletoe is impossible… The Marine’s Christmas Case by Lara Lacombe When Dario Ortega meets Felicity Grant, the lovely marine-turned-PI spurns his advances. Instead, Dario offers his tech expertise to help Felicity solve the Colton, Inc., hacking. Working the case together softens Felicity’s steely heart and makes Dario rethink bachelorhood. But can they catch a killer Colton in time for Christmas?
Two novellas filled with thrilling suspense and exciting romance as the brothers of Ortega are trying to solve the Colton, Inc., hacking case and deliciously and completely falling in love in the process of protecting and investigating.
I don't know if I should even call them novellas because the story continues seamlessly from Special Agent Cowboy by Regan Black to The Marine’s Christmas Case by Lara Lacombe like it is one story with two authors and two couples fumbling with life and love while trying to survive the violent threats and solve the bizarre case. In both stories, the connection and chemistry between the hero and heroine are sizzling hot yet true and belivable. Yes, things are moving at a fast pace, but the attraction and interest are genuine, the scare and fright of the threats intensifying all the emotions. Emiliano Ortega is back at his parents' ranch after his divorce left him broken and broke. He is a hotshot FBI agent, his kindness shows in his eyes, and his love for the animals at the ranch witness it. His constant companion, the corgi named Scrabble, steals the scenes as both the dog and its owner fall head over the heels for Marie Meyers. Marie is used to be alone, growing up in the system has made her tough as steel. Her career has been her companion, her focus, and her 'family' for a long time. The one thing missing in her life, family, has always been her heart's deepest wish yet so distant possibility. Looking into Emiliano's eyes makes her want to believe in the impossible. If only they could solve the case and defuse the threats so she could get back to her safe life, to guard her heart. Dario Ortega, Emiliano's brother, offers to help with the investigation as he is home for the holidays and in-between assignments. Dario has a reputation with the ladies, his flirty ways charming women of all the ages, but one look at Felicity Grant and his thoughts shift a gear. Felicity is fresh out of Marines and still not comfortable with the civilian life. She keeps her distance and has no interest in being one of Dario's attractions. Working as a team to solve the case gives them an opportunity to get to know each other, the threats towards them making that connection unavoidable. Yet the fragile, tender feelings take root as the magic of Christmas touches their hearts. These two couples made me smile and swoon as there is something rather adorable and touching about all of them. The foreboding danger and menace give the stories a sharp edge, the fear for their and their families lives are palpable and real. An entertaining package of arresting investigation and vicious action mixed with delightful and rousing romance, and the cutest four-legged friends ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Inspirational Romantic Suspense
Date Published: December 5, 2017 Publisher: LLC: Swan Press
Lanie Owens has just survived a horrific attack by a stalker. Her grandfather, a retired army colonel, drives her to a resort in Maine where she can heal in peace while the authorities track down the man who almost killed her. To Lanie’s dismay, he hires a bodyguard to protect her. Lanie’s nightmares are debilitating, but giving up control of her life is unacceptable.
Former Army Ranger Matt Saunders knows all about nightmares. He’s spent the last year recovering from an injury he sustained during his last tour and the hellish events that caused it. Anxious to prove that he is fit to go back overseas, he accepts the bodyguard job. The resort is everything they imagined - tranquil, safe, and a place to heal. Gradually, they open up to each other and realize they have a lot in common – except their future plans. When a resort video goes viral, Lanie's stalker knows just where to find her.
Matt couldn’t help himself. He kissed the top of Lanie’s head again and inhaled the citrus-and-floral scent that was now a familiar comfort to him.
She tilted her head up to him, a lazy smile on her lips. “This is heaven. Let’s forget the rest of the world and just be.” Her eyes pleaded with his for understanding. “Like the song.” He touched his lips to her forehead. “I’d like that.” He pulled back to look at her. “But I don’t know how.” He closed his eyes and leaned his forehead on hers. Lanie reached out her hand and placed it on his cheek. She turned his face back to her. “I do. Even if only for a moment.” Matt froze as she pulled his head down toward hers and gently kissed his lips. Shocks he could only describe as lightning shot through his every nerve. He sat still, stiff as the igneous rock beneath him, paralyzed with awe and fear. How could such a soft touch electrify him from head to toe? Lanie was so beautiful, and so trusting. She was facing her fears head on and working through her pain in her effort to return to normal. He knew that was a myth. You couldn’t go back, only create a new normal. Why couldn’t he push past his barriers like she was doing? Why was he so messed up he couldn’t enjoy a kiss from a woman like Lanie? Why couldn’t he even kiss her back? He wanted to, more than anything. What was wrong with him? Why couldn’t he trust himself? She drew back and searched his eyes. “Lanie.” He pulled away. He hoped she couldn’t hear the anguish in his voice. “We can’t—” “I know. I got caught up in the moment. But what if we could get lost here?” She turned and scooted away from him. She pulled her knees up to her chin and hugged them. “Just disappear.”
Kerry Evelyn has always been fascinated by people and the backstories that drive them to do what they do. She graduated from Bridgewater State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Sociology. A native of the Massachusetts South Coast, she taught in an inner city elementary school before moving to Florida to teach in a rural setting, and then in her own neighborhood. Fast forward a few years, and she's now a crazy blessed wife and homeschooling mom to the two sweetest kids you'll ever meet (she's also super biased). When she's not homeschooling or writing, she's mentoring moms through Mom Mastery University, sharing essential oils, and planning super fun events for her kids and their friends (although her own kids have yet to be impressed, being that every event has some sort of learning snuck in to it). She loves God, books of all kinds, traveling, taking selfies, and escaping into her imagination, where every child is happy and healthy, every house has a library, and her hubby wears coattails and a top hat 24/7.

An alpha hero falls for the woman he's sworn to take down in Amelia Autin's latest Man on a Mission romance!
Help her. That's all Niall Jones can think to do when his target almost panics. Undercover operative Niall is tracking suspected traitor Dr. Savannah Whitman, but when she comes under threat, he can't help but swoop in to save her. And the sparks that fly between the secret agent and Savannah are anything but covert. After a personal tragedy, Savannah decided to depart her high-security defense job to live life to the fullest. But she never expected to meet a sexy, mysterious stranger—or for her very safety to be under siege…and enigmatic Niall is the only one who can protect her!
Amelia Autin surely knows how to weave the words together to a story that will mesmerize your mind and hook you from the first page. Black Ops Warrior is at the same time sweetly adorable, steamingly sensual, and increasingly intense romantic suspense story that had me up reading it till the wee hours of the morning, I just could not put it down until I got to the very satisfying end.
Niall Jones and Savannah Whitman were exceptional hero and heroine with their smarts, capabilities, and the seamless, effortless teamwork, that came naturally to them. Their vulnerabilities and secrets gave them realistic characterizations, the burning feelings towards each other, so quickly igniting in their minds and hearts, made them easy to connect with, relate to, and likable. The setting they were in while so romantic and picturesque put their budding relationship to a difficult start. I admired their ability to understand the limits, the secrets, the half-truths they were able to share because of their careers. Most information was on the need to know basis, and often they didn't need to know, putting trust and confidence to a test. I adored the connection between them. The bond and attraction was a palpable force, it was believable and true, there was no question of their feelings or their devotion to each other. The danger and threat are constant and slowly but surely building up the moment. There was very much of an Agatha Christie type of the atmosphere in the air on the cruise, and I loved it! All the scenery was painted with a detailed brush, giving the reader a chance to see the exotic places in their mind's eyes. Niall and Savannah won my heart with their sensitive sides, while impressed immensely with their capabilities to hold their own in a fight for their lives, for the justice, and to protect their country and its secrets. From sizzling hot romance to fierce and savage suspense the story captured my mind, a fantastic ending to the mini-series! ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

When Penny Taylor runs into a handsome stranger in a coffee shop, she believes her luck has finally changed. After having her confidence unwound by her ex, she falls hard for a true gentleman. But once she realizes that her crush is her communications professor, her world is turned upside down.
Haunted by dreams of the alluring Professor Hunter, Penny can't seem to dismiss her fantasies and the temptation to have him grows deeper. Will the excitement, danger, and mystery surrounding Professor Hunter bring her to her knees?
This book is intended for mature audiences.
The drizzle turned into rain as I made my way onto Main Street.
"Miss Taylor, is that you?" My whole body froze at the deep voice. I was wearing the most inappropriate outfit I had ever worn, and now my white tank top was drenched and completely see-through. "Um...no. You have the wrong person." I quickly started walking again, but my high heels prevented me from moving too fast. "Penny, stop!" I turned around and stared up at Professor Hunter, who was as unbelievably sexy as ever. He was wearing a pair of jeans that hugged him in all the right places, and a leather jacket with a plain white t-shirt beneath it. He looked the same as he did in class, except that he had a 5 o'clockshadow and an umbrella. "Professor Hunter, I'm sorry..." I let my voice trail off and I folded my arms across my chest to help hide my most likely exposed breasts. He lowered his eyebrows when I said his name, just like he had in his classroom. "You like to apologize when you've done nothing wrong." I probably imagined it, but it felt like his eyes lingered for a moment on my legs. He moved toward me so that I'd be under his umbrella with him. "Is everything alright, Penny?" My eyes were probably red from my angry tears. I was hoping he wouldn't be able to tell in the rain. "I'm fine." "Then what are you doing out so late all by yourself?" "I could ask the same of you." I rolled my eyes at myself for being so immature. "I was just going for a walk." "Me too," I responded quietly. He laughed. It was an enticing sound. I drew a little closer to him and let my arm brush against his. "Are you cold, Penny?" Cold and mortified. I nodded up at him. I liked the way my name rolled off his tongue. He handed me the umbrella as he slid out of his jacket. Then he held his jacket out for me and I slipped one arm in and then the other. The leather held the scent of his cologne. He took the umbrella and held it above both of us again. He was such a gentleman. "Well you really shouldn't be out alone this late, Penny," he said. "Especially in those walking clothes." "Neither should you." He laughed again. "Is your dorm near here? It would make me feel much better if I escorted you home." "I live in Sussex." "This way then," he said, and placed his hand on the small of my back for just a second. We walked in silence for a few minutes. Every now and then I'd stumble a little in my heels and his hand would briefly touch the small of my back again. Each time he did, I felt like my heart would beat out of my chest. "I'm not good at giving speeches," I said, finally breaking the silence. "I feel like I should just drop your class." "I wish you wouldn't. If you ever need extra help, I have open office hours. I really am a fairly easy grader for Comm." "It's going to be extra painful when you fail me, though." "Why extra painful?" He said "extra" slowly, almost seductively. "Because you...I mean I. Well, you're..." I let my voice trail off. I wanted to say, "Because you're gorgeous and I have a huge crush on you." I can't believe I almost let him hear me say that. "Well it does seem that you aren't great at giving speeches," he laughed again. "Like I said, you can come by any time." We walked along the length of the green. I had dreamt of having a date escort me back to my dorm room. But I only dated immature boys, not men. Professor Hunter was a man. I found myself once again wondering how old he was. "Have you been a professor here for long?" "Not long at all. I do love it here, despite how much it rains. Besides, you never know what you'll find during a long walk in the rain." He smiled down at me. Is he flirting with me? It seems like he's flirting with me! Before I knew it, we were at my dorm. I stepped out from under his umbrella and let the rain fall on me again. "Here," I said and pulled off his jacket. His eyes drifted for just a second to my wet tank top. "No, you can keep it." "I've been stealing all your clothes. Soon you'll have nothing left." "That does seem to be your plan." He had a mischievous look in his eyes. "I insist," I said as I held out the jacket to him. He took it reluctantly. "I'm not in trouble, am I?" "You're a senior, you're of legal age to drink, and you're allowed to wear what you like. Why would you be in trouble?" But I wasn't a senior, I was a sophomore. And I wasn't over 21, I was only 19. I took a deep breath. He didn't need to know that. "You're right. And I was only walking, after all. Thank you for escorting me home, Professor Hunter." He lowered his eyebrows when I said his name, just like he always did. But this time the action made me hold my breath. I was wrong about how he looked. He didn't look angry, his eyes looked hungry. I had to remind myself to keep breathing. "I'll see you at 8 a.m. sharp, Miss Taylor." "It's a date." My eyes got huge and I put my hand over my mouth. Had I really just said that out loud? I turned quickly away from him and fumbled with my sensor pass to open the door. Finally it clicked. I threw the door open and quickly went inside. I turned around at the last moment to see Professor Hunter staring at me intently, surprisingly not at all perplexed. The door closed with a thud. ---

All he’s trying to do is recapture the slightly inebriated Lady Olympia Hightower and return her to her intended bridegroom. For reasons that elude her, bookish, bespectacled Olympia is supposed to marry a gorgeous rake of a duke. The ton is flabbergasted. Her family’s ecstatic. And Olympia? She’s climbing out of a window, bent on a getaway. But tall, dark, and exasperating Ripley is hot on her trail, determined to bring her back to his friend. For once, the world-famous hellion is trying to do the honorable thing. So why does Olympia have to make it so deliciously difficult for him . . . ?
Prologue
London Early morning of 11 June 1833 The Duke of Ashmont was not a very good duke—rather an awful one, actually. And so nobody could be in the least surprised to see him, drunk as an emperor—that was to say, ten times as drunk as a lord—staggering down the steps of Crockford’s Club on the arm of one of his two best friends. This one was Hugh Philemon Ancaster, seventh Duke of Ripley. Where Ashmont was fair-haired, blue-eyed, and angelic-looking, Ripley was dark. Unlike Ashmont, he did not appear to be spun of dreams and gossamer, and women did not follow his movements with the moonstruck expressions they accorded His Grace with the Angel Face. On a good day, someone had said once, Ripley’s face resembled that of a wolf who’d been in too many fights. Furthermore, though his slightly older title ranked him a notch or two higher in precedence than Ashmont, Ripley was merely as drunk as a lord. He could still distinguish up from down. When, therefore, His Grace of Ashmont showed an inclination to stumble in the downhill direction, toward St. James’s Palace, Ripley hauled him about. “This way,” he said. “Hackney stand up ahead.” “Right,” Ashmont said. “Can’t miss the wedding. Not this one. It’s me doing it. Me and Olympia. Have to be there. Promised.” “You will be,” Ripley said as he led his friend across the street. The wedding had been news to him, the choice of bride a shock: Lady Olympia Hightower, of all women. She was the last girl on earth he’d thought would marry Ashmont—or any of them, for that matter. Not that Ripley knew her very well. Or at all. They’d been introduced, yes, years ago. That was in the days when respectable persons still introduced Ripley and his two friends to innocent girls. But those were not the kinds of girls the ducal trio wanted. Gently bred maidens were for marrying, and marriage was sup-posed to be years away, sometime in the dim, distant future. Apparently, the future had arrived while Ripley wasn’t looking. First the Duke of Blackwood, the other of his two boon companions, had married Ripley’s sister over a year ago, a few days before Ripley left for the Conti-nent. Now Ashmont was doing it. Ripley had heard the happy news mere hours after his return to London yesterday. No, he’d returned the day before, because today was yesterday now. He’d come to Crockford’s because he wanted a decent meal, and Crockford’s Ude was the next best thing to Ripley’s own chef, Chardot, who’d come down with a foul cold sometime during the Channel crossing. Chardot went with him everywhere because he was amply paid to do so, and Ripley liked his comfort. Having been forced, for no sane reason, to live like a pauper during his boyhood, he lived like a king now. Ripley was debating with himself whether, on the whole, he’d better have stayed abroad, when four men spilled out of a narrow court, one crashing into Ash-mont, with force enough to dislodge him from Ripley’s light grasp and push him into a shop front. Ashmont bounced back with surprising energy. “You clumsy, bleeding, half-wit! I have to get married, you bloody arsehole!” At the same moment, he drove his fist at the fellow’s face. One of the man’s friends tried to butt in. With a sigh, Ripley grabbed him by the back of the collar. The fel-low swung at him, obliging Ripley to knock him into the gutter. What happened after that was what often happened when Ashmont was about: a lot of filthy language and filthy fighting, and men rushing out of the clubs, shout-ing bets, and a female or two screaming somewhere. Then it was over. Their foes lay strewn about the pavement. Ripley didn’t wait to count or identify them. He collected Ashmont from the railing he’d slumped against and trudged to the corner with him. He sig-naled, and the first in line of the hackneys plodded their way. He threw Ashmont into the decrepit coach and directed the driver to Ashmont House. Servants waited up, as they were accustomed to do, for Ashmont. They bore him up the stairs to his bed-room and undressed and washed him without fuss.
