They’d been best friends since elementary school, knew each other’s secrets, and supported each other in times of need…Sandy Cooper and Hunter Blakely were there for each other no matter what…until one epic graduation night changed everything…
For Sandy, her sexy best friend knew too much of the life she wanted to get away from. She wanted to start fresh but also keep the one constant in her life; his unwavering friendship and support. And she was willing to push her growing feelings for him down in order to protect their special friendship. Hunter always knew that the gorgeous blonde was all he wanted, and even though her rejection hurt, he was willing to do whatever it took to prove to her that they belonged together in every way. When it comes to Chasing Perfect, sometimes you don’t have to travel very far.
Sandy and Hunter have a special connection. The friendship reaches out to the early childhood, and they have been there for each other ever since. Through everything, the growing pains, the abusive mother, the dead father, they have always been there for each other. Until sex changes everything. The one amazing night between them, and nothing will ever be the same again.
In the absence of Hunter, Sandy has to learn to stand on her two feet, to be independent, or as much one as having a twin sister, will allow. But now Hunter is back, and with Sandy on the first adventure of her life. And it is a true spring break adventure, with beach life, parties, boating and games - mind games, jealousy, drinking games and all that is part of spring break, growing up, and finding your direction. And the games go on, until a life and death situation, make Sandy to face her true feelings, and admit that life is sometimes better than any fairy tale. I love Melanie Shawn's writing style, the characters are so real, not only likable and charismatic, but people you would want to spend time with. Hunter's love Sandy is palpable in every scene, Sandy's emotional fears have kept her on distance, but life has perfect timing, and reasons for the wait game. Even though the story is in the first person and the Young Adult genre, both something that are not normally my favourite as I usually enjoy a bit more mature characters, but the Someday series has captured my mind, because of the compelling characters. The stories are filled with growing pains, the difficult decisions of adulthood, passion, love, and amazing friends. Lots of sweet romance, steamy love scenes, and fun banter, in midst of struggles and life lessons ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

A promise to protect
They say money and murder go together like biscuits and gravy, but Julianne Dawson thought her family was different. Even if they are the wealthiest family in Durham, North Carolina, she can't believe someone close to her could've killed her beloved Aunt Binnie. Detective Howie Berry is determined to find the murderer. But the more he gets to know Julianne, the more he's drawn to her. She's not just the town's golden girl--she's smart and incredibly tough. Howie can't get involved, though, since the next clue he uncovers could tear her family apart. He'll protect Julianne at any cost...except the truth.
Interesting story about a murder investigation in a southern town in North Carolina, where the prominent family of the region, has not only lost a family member, but it seems that one of them might be the murderer.
The focus of the story is in the intricate investigation, where everyone is connected to someone, all the leads are taking towards the same conclusion, but the conclusion is the one, that can destroy everything else developing around the characters. The attraction between Howie and Julianne is immediate, and definitely inappropriate. Her family member is murdered, by someone in her family, and he is the investigating detective. Not possible in any way. And when you take into consideration their society beyond the investigation, would Howie be admitted to the inner circles anyway. The relationship starts to form, regardless, through long phone conversations, and accidental meetings around the town. The investigation is not moving forward, everyone 'knows' who did it, but proving it is another matter. The delicate dance between doing the right thing, the ethical thing, following the rules, and surrender to the heart's desires takes the reader through the story. The matter is interesting, and the story has beauty in it, and is well written. It does move forward in a crawling pace at times, but is not a story to be given up on ~ Four Spoons
I’ll Be There
Montgomery Brothers #6 By: Samantha Chase Releasing December 1st, 2015 Sourcebooks Casablanca
Book #6 in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Samantha Chase's popular Montgomery series
This Montgomery Has a Head for Business Working for Zach Montgomery is challenging on many levels-coming from a wealthy and powerful family, he lives by his own rules and doesn't answer to anyone. But Gabriella Martine has no intention of backing down. She's used to handling stubborn men, and it doesn't hurt that Zach is smart, charismatic...and gorgeous. And a Heart for Adventure Zach's perfect world is turned upside down when a climbing accident leaves him broken, angry, and maddeningly dependent. In his slow quest for recovery, Gabriella is always there to help...but as Zach comes to see his beautiful assistant in a new light, he is forced to re-evaluate what it really means to be a man worthy of Gabriella's love.
Reaching across the table, Zach took one of Gabriella’s hands in his and just marveled at how soft it was. He always wondered what her skin felt like and now that he knew, he wanted to feel more. “Don’t leave me. Please.”
Her blue eyes filled with tears and she used her free hand to quickly wipe them away before they fell and then studied their hands on the table. “Zach,” she said softly, “we’ve been over this.” “I know, I know,” he replied just as softly. “I need another chance, Gabriella. I need a chance to make things right.” He looked up, his gaze meeting hers. “I need you.” Deciding to be bold, he turned her hand over and twined their fingers together and gently squeezed. He was surprised she didn’t pull away and thought maybe—just maybe—they were making progress. “I know I can’t erase the things I’ve said and done, but if you’ll give me one more chance, Gabs, I promise not to screw up. If I do anything to upset you, you can walk away. Hell, you can slap me in the face, kick me in the shin or throw something heavy at me and I’ll take it. I just…I can’t do this without you.” Her eyes never left their joined hands. “I don’t want to do this without you,” he said quietly. “I’m afraid to…believe you.” He barely heard her words, they were uttered so softly. Everything inside of him clenched with pain. His always confident, ever-efficient assistant was now distrusting and uncertain—because of him. “I don’t know what to say to make you believe me. Tell me. Tell me what I need to do. Anything. Anything you need from me to gain your confidence, and I’ll do it.” She looked up at him. “It’s not that easy. Every day I walked into the office, I gave you another chance. Every time you berated me or made me feel like I screwed up and I came back, I gave you another chance. From my standpoint, you’ve had two years’ worth of second chances. I think I’ve been more than generous.” His other hand reached out to cup her hand in both of his. “I know you have and you have no idea how much I appreciated it.” She looked at him with disbelief. “It’s true! I know I never said it but every morning you were there, I was thankful. Every time you walked into my office, I was thankful. Please. I’m begging here, Gabs.”
New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40's to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.
When she's not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina. Author Links: Website | Facebook | Twitter | GoodReads |
