More about the books in the box set:

Protected by the Mountain Wolf
Book 1

Amara's life changed the moment she was attacked by a group of wolves. She was only 15 at the time, who could blame her for ignoring her grandfather's warnings? She quickly began to believe all those stories he told her about the wolves who protected their town, Strathford. The wolves who could turn into humans. Shifters, as she learned they were called.

Ten years had passed since then, and Nova still couldn't forgive himself for letting the Valley Clan slip into their territory unnoticed. If only he had been there in time. Since that day, he made a vow to himself to protect her, no matter what happens. Though he didn't personally know Amara, he felt a connection to her after watching over her all these years. With his curiosity growing each day, he finally decided to visit her at work. He'd talk to her for an hour, settle his curiosity and then never speak to her again. Or so he thought...

Adored by the Mountain Wolf
Book 2

Two weeks after she started living on the Compound - the home of the Mountain Wolves - Amara was getting anxious to return to her life. She had a job, friends and family to return to. Not only that, she had to make sure her sister was safe from her psychopath boyfriend, Kal. If only she could tell Sadie the truth, that he was the wolf shifter who wreaked havoc on Strathford for all these years.

As much as he wanted to protect her, Nova knew that he couldn't keep Amara from her life forever. He and the Mountain Wolves have been vigilant in the fight against the Valley Clan, but they begin to lose their footing as the attacks increase in frequency. When Nova is reminded he has to protect his pack he has no choice but to bring Amara with him, for her safety.

Mated to the Mountain Wolf
Book 3

Weeks after the war between the Mountain and Valley clans ended, resulting in Kal's capture, things were finally starting to get back to normal for Amara. Well, as normal as they could be in preparation to marry a wolf shifter. Before Nova and Amara they could officially be considered mates, there were a series of trials that needed to be passed. And if she were honest, the thought of failing scared her more than anything. To make matters worse, her secret admirer just began to tip the scale from flattery to all out stalker.

Even after Kal was captured, and the horrors Amara had faced in her life were over, she still wasn't completely safe. And that's what angered Nova the most. He just had to work that much harder at protecting her.

Married to the Mountain Wolf
Book 4

The day finally came. Ten years ago, Nova would have never imagined that he'd be standing where he stood today. With the odds completely against him, this wasn't even a thought in his mind. The first night he saw Amara seemed like forever ago and now here he was, standing, waiting for his bride to meet him at the altar. Amara. His Bride. His Mate. With all of the shit that had happened over the past few months, he was finally glad to see his woman happy, in all her glory. He wouldn't let anything interrupt this day. Today will be perfect. For Amara's sake.

“So, Cowboy,” she asked, leaning against the bar, “do you have a name to go with that grin? Or are you the strong silent type who’s just going to sit and stare at me?”
“Well, it’s working so well for me,” he said, tapping his fingers slowly on the bar, “why mess with success?” Her laugh was loud and boisterous, and he couldn’t help but want to hear it again. Snickering to himself, he held out a hand. “My name is Nova.”
Taking his outstretched hand, she shook it. “Amara. Have you been in town long?”
“I live a few miles out of Strathford, on my family’s estate.” Sort of.
The door opened again, and Nova’s blood froze in his veins. The man who walked in was tall, and broad shouldered. His hair was a rich, chestnut brown against his deeply tanned skin. He had an angular face with a sharp brow and tawny eyes. Snow dotted the shoulders of his leather jacket, his grin was fierce and cruel when he spotted Nova.
    Kal.
Nova’s expression turned hard and stony as he watched the heir to the Valley Clan weave his way through the tables. Anger rose to the surface, and Nova clenched his fist. What the hell was Kal doing there? He shouldn’t even be in town, much less in this bar.
Kal leered at Nova as he sat down next to him. “Didn’t think you’d bother showing your face, Lowery,” he said, snaking Nova’s shot and downing it. Without a word, Amara filled another and handed it to Nova. The look on her face was carefully blank.
“It’s my town, Vann, in case you don’t remember. The border is twenty miles in the other direction.” Nova’s smile at Amara was quick and charming, but he knew it didn’t reach his eyes. He wondered if she noticed. “You know, in case you wanted to get the hell over it.”
Kal chuckled to himself for a moment, his shrewd gaze not missing a thing. He lowered his voice. “You sure watch this one a lot,” he murmured, barely nodding his head at the bartender. Luckily, she was serving a patron a few feet away. “Why is that, I wonder.”
Nova’s demeanor went hard as stone. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” But he couldn’t help the way his gaze darted to her face and back again. It was just for a split second, but it was enough.
Grinning, Kal leaned forward, keeping his voice near a whisper. “Oh, I think you do. I think you’ve had a thing for this pretty little bartender for a while now. The only question now is, why?” He raised a brow. “I mean, she is attractive I guess. For a human. Dark hair, tiny frame, tight body. Ripe little prize for any man to win, I suppose. But a mate? My, my. What would your brother think? He is your Alpha now, is he not? Now that Daddy’s gone. Do you think he would approve of you fraternizing with the sheep you watch?”
Closing his eyes, Kal sniffed the air as Amara walked by. “She does smell am—“His voice trailed off as his eyes opened wide, and he gaped at Nova. “No. She isn’t.” Catching the flash of fear from his adversary, Kal rubbed his hands together, glee lighting his face. “Well aren’t you just an old hound? She isn’t just some girl, is she? She’s the girl. The one that got away from both of us.” He sniffed again. “Mmm, and Lowery, does she smell delicious or what? Tell me you’re getting some action from her.”
Nova sat on the stool, as still as he could, willing himself to stay calm as his heart began to race and his blood boiled. The only outward sign that Kal Vann’s words had even gotten to him was his hands clenching into fists at his sides.
    Kal noticed.
He chuckled. “You’re not. Well, that’s your loss, Lowery. Do you mind if I do?” Kal patted Nova on the shoulder. It took everything he had for Nova not to break his hand at the joint. “Once I get her home, I think I’d like to tear into that sweet skin again. You know. Finish what I started.”

Silver Dagger Book Tours for All of the Rogers by Erin Lockwood

All of the Rogers
by Erin Lockwood
Genre: YA Psychological Romance

"How can you love someone so much and need space from them at the same time?"

My alarm goes off at four am. It takes an hour to get to the studio, and then my ballet training begins. I go to school for a few hours, and then it’s back to the studio for more training. Go to bed. Repeat the whole process the next day.
I hate it.
My time at school is a blur, except for biology. I don’t rush through that class, because I get to see Roger Byrnes. He probably doesn’t even know I exist, but my heart beats a little faster when I see him walk through the classroom door with his messy hair and carefree attitude. He has so much energy. But then he stares off into the distance, and I wonder what he’s thinking. It’s the highlight of my day.
I wish I could quit ballet so I could be a normal teenager. Someone who Roger would want to be with. I could use some excitement in my life…I bet Roger could give that to me.

Picture
Picture
Roger keeps running with me screaming over his shoulder, and I’m getting
seriously worried he’s not going to slow down when he reaches the ice-cold
Pacific Ocean. I can feel the freezing wet splashes on my legs, and as he runs
into deeper water, some of the splashes reach up to my face.

I’ve been playfully kicking and screaming for him to put me down, but now,
I’m gripping his upper back, not wanting him to lower me at all. Don’t let the
turquoise water of Carmel fool you; it’s damn cold, even in the summer. Girls
wear bikinis on the beach, and surfers wear wetsuits all year-round. Even I
know that.

“You broke a promise,” he says while his arm grabs me from over his shoulder
and moves me down.

The muscles in my legs bulge, and I clench them around his upper body,
holding myself high up on his shoulder.

“What are you? A cat?” he says, confused, as he tries to figure out what I’m
doing with my body.

I grab on to his head and use it as leverage to clench my thighs together over
his other shoulder. “I never broke a promise,” I say, unashamed. The only
emotion going through me right now is fear of going into the ice cold water. “I
never promised to call you.”

“Oh, that hurts my feelings,” he says dramatically.

He reaches up and tries one more time to pull me off of him, but I’m too
strong.

“How the hell are you stronger than me?” he exclaims, clearly frustrated that
he’s tried twice to throw me in the water with no success.

All he’s been able to do is make me slip down his body a little. My one leg is
still draped over his shoulder, and the other is wrapped around his back,
holding on for dear life. My face has moved from over his head to right in front
of his nose.

“Ballerinas are a lot stronger than you think,” I say with a calm, even breath.
I’ve never kissed a boy before, and right now, I’m staring at one’s lips. They’re
so full and colorful; they look as if they’re full of fruit punch. I wonder what it
would taste like and feel like. If I just move my head a few inches closer…

“Maybe so,” he says, matching my even breath. “You might be stronger than
me, but I’m more clever.” He spreads his arms out, as if he’s going to give
someone a huge hug, and slowly, his body weight shifts back.

“No, no, no, no, no!” I scream once I realize there’s no stopping him from
falling back into the water.

Feeling hopelessly in love with her husband, she wrote him a short story leading up to their fifth wedding anniversary. Lauren Gallagher’s life changed almost three years ago. After her husband disappeared at sea, she was left with a failing pleasure boat company and more than a few secrets. Now, after years spent rebuilding the business and paying off the pile of debts, she finally feels in control. But when she finds her husband, actually dead, on the floor, she becomes the leading suspect in his murder investigation.

Garrett McGrath wants Lauren in his bed, not his heart. He doesn’t do emotions, but every time he sees her, holding himself back gets harder and harder. When Lauren comes under suspicion for killing her previously presumed-dead husband, he knows he has to help her, any way he can.

But as the danger becomes more intense and Garret and Lauren grow closer than either planned, they’re in danger of losing everything…including their hearts.

Picture
He rose from the dead.

Lauren Gallagher couldn’t come up with any other explanation. Her once-dead husband was very much alive and standing on the other side of her front door . . . and she felt nothing but numbness spreading inside her.

For a man who supposedly washed overboard in the middle of a violent storm, he looked pretty healthy. Big smile. Bright white teeth. Khaki pants and deck shoes. She’d forgotten how much she hated the deck shoes.

The wattage on his supersmile dimmed a bit as he shifted his weight from foot to foot and rubbed his hands up and down his arms. “Aren’t you going to let me in?”

Her mind went blank. The world flipped sideways on her and her stomach rolled. The whole time she could hear him talking but the words didn’t make sense. None of this made sense. She opened her mouth but nothing came out but a tiny gasping sound. That’s all she could muster as she blinked, trying to process what she was seeing.

“Lauren? Why are you just standing there? Open this door.”

An order. The sharp smack in his voice sounded far too familiar. That quickly it brought her crashing back to reality.

She really wanted to say no to his command. Not that she hadn’t mourned him. Even with the dysfunctional state of their faltering marriage at the time he disappeared, she had. She’d grieved for what could have been and the dreams that fizzled out early in their time together. She grieved for his loss as she would an old friend, not as a person she viewed as her soulmate, if there even was such a thing.

That was less than three years ago. The police had arrived and she’d dropped to her knees feeling sick and hollow at the idea of Carl gasping for breath as the water he loved so much overtook him.

Months had passed slowly after that. She’d been locked in a perpetual state of shock, topped off with a wallop of guilt because she’d visited a divorce attorney for the first time just before he disappeared. With him gone she’d found out about the lies. His hidden debts and how he’d taken their business to the brink of bankruptcy, all while showing her fake bank statements he’d manufactured. He’d gone to a lot of trouble to carry on the ruse of pretending their finances were fine.

And then things had gotten even worse. All those whispers about Maryanne, the girlfriend who seemed to be an open secret to everyone except Lauren. The one who, unlike Lauren, did not have any debts or an unpaid mortgage or a business on the verge of bankruptcy. Maryanne Lightwood, the same woman who’d mysteriously walked out on her rent and left town right as Carl’s boat disappeared.

Lauren prided herself on being practical. She was skeptical of coincidences and not stupid, so confusion had turned to fury in record time. As the cool December wind blew in the front door of the small cottage now, she realized the fury still simmered inside her.

She lived far enough from the water that the breeze wasn’t frigid, but it carried a bite. For the past few years early winter in Annapolis, Maryland, had meant an unwelcome amount of snow. This year had been mild. As someone who ran a pleasure boat and fishing tour business and depended on tourists, she thought she might get lucky this year and only have to survive a short off-season.

Apparently, her luck had just run out.
Picture
I fell in love with HelenKay Dimon's writing with the first book I read by her several years ago. A Games People Play series is filled with intriguing characters, fun banter, intense suspense, and swoon-worthy romance. And The Negotiator delivers the goods once again in the concentrated package of a novella that provides a lot of story for its shorter length.
Garrett McGrath has been in the background through the series, yet his witty, quirky personality, his lethal abilities, and smooth talking ways have shined through from the first scene with him. He is easy to fall for, and I love that he got his own happily ever after. And especially I love that he got it with Lauren Gallagher because they are so perfect together, the chemistry between them is smoking hot.
Lauren Gallagher's life has been filled with secrets and awkward moments ever since her husband disappeared into the sea. But she is a smart and capable lady and has overcome the challenges her husband left for her to deal with, and has made a good life from the ashes of the betrayal. Now it all is shaken up again.
Garrett and Lauren's story is an entertaining package of suspenseful murder mystery and alluring steamy romance mixed with the angst of the approaching holidays and the family drama from Lauren and Garett's past.
I pretty much inhaled the story, loving every moment of it. The dialog is brilliant, the repartee just had me laughing out loud and swooning as Garrett takes the fumble into the kinds of emotions and feelings he has been determined to avoid. But it is not all just fun and games while chasing the bad guys. There are deep, fragile feelings involved putting Lauren and Garrett into a vulnerable place to choose what they want from the future and what they are willing to risk for their feelings for each other.
A delightful, thrilling, and captivating Christmas novella filled with fierce action and vivid emotions. Highly recommend!

Picture
CHAPTER ONE
“Don’t assume every young lady is in need of rescue. Some of us wish to be a heroine who fights her own battles.”
—Journal of Clary Ruthven

London, 1899

Whitechapel repulsed Gabriel Adamson.
Grime and smoke hung so thick in the air that he could taste grit on his tongue. Narrow lanes conspired to trap the neighborhood’s fetid stench, and its tenements loomed above his head as if they’d crush him under the weight of their cramped, miserable inhabitants.
Now that he could afford proper togs for the first time in his life, he took care selecting the finest fabrics for his tailored suits and shirts. Today, he feared every stitch he’d donned would reek from the East End’s noxious stew of ash and muck.
The rain had been on and off and on all morning, but the heavens showed no mercy in a place like this. The sky opened the moment he alighted from the hansom cab, fat drops pelting his hat like the clatter of horses’ hooves on cobblestones.
Tugging up his fur-lined collar, he lengthened his stride and ducked under the awning of a grimy-windowed shop. He stared across the lane at Number 12 Doncaster.
The building slouched toward the street, its wooden frame worn by time and eaten away by moisture. The brick buildings buttressing each side were smart and modern by comparison, though their red bricks had been smoked to an oily black too.
As he gazed up at the house, echoes rang in his head. Raging shouts and desperate cries. The thud of fists on flesh. Bone meeting bone.
Peg Delaney was a cruel woman, but she was nobody’s fool. Gabe doubted she’d still be eking out a living in the last place he’d seen her. This venture was a fool’s errand.
He drew in a ragged breath, biting back a curse.
At least he’d had the good sense not to tell Sara of his trip. He couldn’t bear to dash his sister’s hopes, nor could he stand watching her fret over their mother’s fate when she should be focusing on her future and finally securing a bit of long-delayed happiness.
When the rain slowed to a sparse patter, he dashed across the narrow lane and knocked at the door. No answer came, and he suspected the landlord was far in his cups by this hour. The man had always been a wastrel. Trying the latch, he found the door unlocked and stepped into the dark, musty vestibule, choking on memories and stale air.
A discordant strain of music—a bow scratching at violin strings—echoed from upstairs. Gabe started up the worn slats. The wood creaked under his weight.
His mother’s door stood ajar, and nausea clawed its way up his throat when he caught a hint of her cheap perfume on the air. Bracing a gloved fist against the wood, he pushed inside and held his breath. Amid dried leaves and a cascade of cobwebs, the stench of rot turned his gut inside out.
Except for a single overturned chair, the room contained no furniture. Nothing hung on the walls. No personal effects decorated the space. She’d abandoned this place long ago, and no one had given a damn about the miserable lodging room since. Water ran down the walls, leaking from loose roof tiles.
Gabe strode to the back of the room and gripped a moldy edge of loosened wallpaper. Peeling back the paper revealed a gaping hole in the plaster. Reaching inside, he scraped his fingers around in the dust and dark until he felt a rounded shape. He tugged the object forward, grasping the tiny horse head in his hand.
Years ago, he’d found the knight chess piece in the gutter and had squirreled it away like a treasure. Even now, the chiseled quartz glinted in the weak light from the room’s single, cracked window.
“Wot you after?” A woman’s gruff bark sounded from the threshold, and Gabe turned, fists balled, muscles tensed.
“Mrs. Niven.” She’d been wrinkled and gray when Gabe was young. Now his old neighbor had the aspect of a wizened crone. If wizened crones wielded a violin bow in one hand and a revolver in the other.
Squinting until her eyelids were little more than creased slits, she shuffled forward. “Is it you?”
Gabe’s pulse slowed as he watched the old woman’s drooping mouth curl up in a toothless smile.
“Ragin’ Boy.” She drew close, reeking of smoke and soiled wool. “Never fought I’d see those eyes of yours lookin’ back at me again. ’Ow many years gone now, child? Five? Ten?”
Nine and a half years. He’d left Whitechapel at sixteen and never looked back. Never intended to step foot in the godforsaken place again either.

Silver Dagger Book Tours for Lady Law and the Gunslinger Series by Adrienne deWolfe

Devil in Texas
Lady Law and the Gunslinger Series Book 1
by Adrienne deWolfe
Genre: Historical Romance

Pinkerton Agent Sadie Michelson poses as a casino singer to investigate a Texas Senator. Before she can cozy up to her quarry, she must get past his bodyguard, William Cassidy, her long-lost lover.

An outlaw seeking redemption, Cass was lured to Texas by the promise of a Ranger badge. But he hasn’t forgotten the sassy siren, who toyed with his heart. When Sadie proposes a truce, Cass suspects she’s hiding something.

With assassins dogging their heels, Cass and Sadie uncover a murder conspiracy in the senate. To stay alive, they must do the one thing they’re dead set against: trust each other.

Picture
As the other players left the table, Sadie sprawled man-like in her chair, doing her best to look drunk and stupid. God knew, she'd observed enough rednecks to know how to mimic one.
According to the bouncer, Cass was hunting for her in the crowd. Sadie wasn't surprised. In fact, she'd prepared. That's why she'd donned a dingy linen sack suit (which was the ugliest thing she'd ever worn); blue-tinted railroad spectacles (to turn her amber eyes a shade of green;) flesh-toned putty to hide the freckles on her nose, and auburn facial hair. Knowing Cass as she did, she figured she was due for a monumental showdown.
Her mind flashed back to a torrid night in Dodge, when she'd insisted she was a business woman who would never give her heart to any man. He'd taken offense at the idea. When she'd refused to make an exception, even for him, he'd used his lariat to bind her to the posts of her bed. She could still hear his provocative drawl above her ripping breaths as he'd tantalized her feverish, sensitized nakedness.
A lusty smile curved her lips.
'Stop that!' her ever-practical brain railed at her nether region. What the Rebel Rutter knew about love could probably be poured into a thimble!
As if on cue, Cass tossed back his tequila, strolled to her table, and straddled a chair.  She struggled to ignore the captivating shower of sparks that danced along her nerves. The crackle of current between her and Cass had always been like some hungry, growling thing. Never had it been more dangerous than tonight, when she had to keep her head cool and her heart hard to discern the truth from his lies.
He doffed his Stetson and set it on the table. "The name's Cassidy," he said in ironic tones. "William. Most folks call me Cass."
"Uh-huh."
"You got a name?"
"Depends on what I'm wearing."
The twitch in his lips betrayed his mirth. He'd maneuvered his chair close enough for her to catch the faint whiff of sandalwood soap.
"Seems like we've met before," he drawled.
"Must've been a past life."
"As I recollect, you weren't so fond of wearing a beard back then."
"A wretched nuisance," she confided. "It itches like hell."
"I like it."
"You would."
Never missing a beat, she dealt the first hand for Stud Poker. The Queen of Hearts showed on her side of the table, the Knave of Hearts on his.
"How fitting." His baritone was velvety, nearly a croon. Picking up chips, he tossed them to the center of the table. He'd staked 100 dollars.
Showboater.
Peeking at her cards, Sadie was hard-pressed not to sigh. They were crap, but she called his bet anyway.
"Don't know too many men who wear sun-shades in a poker game," he drawled.
"You calling me a cheat?"
"You wanna wrassle over it?"
"You'd only get whupped."
He flashed all those pretty teeth. "That's why I brought an extra lariat."
She ducked her head to hide her smirk. Oh, he really was a cut-up.

Sadie gasped and jerked awake. Daylight was edging across her pillow. She sucked down great gulps of air, trying to sooth the erratic speeding of her heart.
Thank God. It was only a dream.
Turning her head to check the clock, she came face to face with black eyes and a furry snout. She nearly shrieked.
"Son of a—"
Vandy whuffed affectionately and snuggled against her breasts.
Sadie scowled. The coon had been sleeping on his side, his head resting on her pillow. Tucked under his jaw was his right hind leg, which had been bandaged in what looked suspiciously like a piece of her other pillowcase.
"Who let you in?"
Vandy's tail flopped possessively over her bare arm. He yawned, revealing formidable fangs. The stench of carrion wafted over her face.
"Is that a flea on my quilt? So help me God, that had better not be a flea!"
Vandy licked her nose.
I'm going to kill that kid.
A jaunty rap rattled her door. "Room service!"
Sadie's eyes narrowed suspiciously. Throwing back the quilt, she rolled off the other side of the bed, grabbed her .32 from the nightstand, and snatched a black satin robe from the post.
"I didn't order room service!" she called.
"Compliments of the fine gentleman," insisted that muffled, male voice from the hall.
Fine gentleman? Sadie's heart quickened. Who could he mean?
Hastily tying her belt, she padded on bare feet to the door. When she cracked it open, she spied Cass, leaning against the wall in his trademark Stetson, black shirt and chaps.
"Mornin', Sunshine," he drawled.
The bellhop had already wheeled the cart across the threshold; otherwise, she would have slammed the door in Cass's face.
"I'll take it from here," he told the kid with a wink.
The bellhop grinned and caught Cass's coin before retreating for the elevator.
Sadie seethed, and not just because her ex-lover had hoodwinked her again. At 6:45 a.m., after a restless night, her hair resembled an exploded mop, and the rings beneath her eyes made her look like Vandy's next-of-kin.
By comparison, Cass's wind-riffled ruggedness lent him a mouth-watering, outdoorsy appeal that made her private parts twitch. His eyes were as stunning as polished sapphires set in a face that the sun had baked to honey-colored amber. His grin was a slash of pure mischief in his closely cropped beard. She wanted to smack him for his disgusting cheerfulness.
"I should have told the bellhop you smuggled a fleabag into the penthouse," she grumbled.
He pushed the cart into the room. "Is that any way to talk about last night’s hero?"
Vandy had been busily scratching his ear beneath the quilt. Now he popped his head out from his goose-down igloo and licked his chops.
"I brought all your breakfast favorites," Cass said.
"If you think a plate of gingerbread can excuse you for—"
"I wasn't talking to you," he interrupted loftily. He raised the platter's sterling dome to reveal a smelly dead trout, an apple wedge smeared with peanut butter, a saucer heaped with pumpkin guts, and a crystal bowl filled with water.
Vandy wriggled enthusiastically and barked.
Sadie wrinkled her nose. She wondered if it was too late to shout for the bellhop to remove the stinking travesty—and Cass along with it.
"All right," she bit out. "You've had your fun. Now get out."
"What, no chit-chat? No foreplay?"
"I have a gun. Don't make me use it."
He chuckled, lowering the platter to the carpet. Vandy hopped off the bed—favoring his leg—and promptly made a mess, tracking pumpkin guts across the pile.
"Aw. Look how tidy the little tyke is," Cass crooned without a hint of irony. "He's washing his paws."
"That's not all that needs washing," Sadie groused. "Collie had better clean this slop up. That kid has a lot of nerve, picking my lock in the middle of the night and stealing my pillowcase for a bandage."
"Now Sadie, the boy only has two shirts. And you have four pillowcases."
"That's not the point!"
"Yeah? Then what is the point, detective? That a beardless pup sneaked inside your bedroom while you were sleeping? And if he can do it, Maestro can?"
Humiliation burned Sadie's cheeks. As loath as she was to admit it, Cass's argument was sound. A bad dream was no excuse for letting down her guard. However, she wasn't about to concede her failing. An army of inquisitors couldn't make her give Cass that pleasure!

Silver Dagger Book Tours for The Sweetheart Mystery by Cheryl Ann Smith

The Sweetheart Mystery
Brash & Brazen #4
by Cheryl Ann Smith
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Harper Jane Evans is so over pro cheerleading but she’s not quite ready for prison. Good thing she’s got a badass ex-boyfriend ready to go to bat for her . . .
Sure, Harper made a few unsavory threats against her team’s manager—she’d had a few drinks and she despised the skimpy uniform he expected her to wear. That didn’t mean she wanted him dead. But when the sleazy dude is found murdered in his tighty whiteys, Harper is the number one suspect—and former FBI agent Noah Slade is the one man who can help. Too bad she once told Noah she never wanted to see him again . . .
Noah may have done a number on Harper’s heart all those years ago, but he’s determined to do right by her now. Yet the fiery beauty isn’t the only demon from his past, which makes hunting down a murderer by her side . . . complicated—never mind the powerful attraction still pulsing between them. Good thing he’s willing to do just about anything to keep from losing Harper again. And an old love just might bring her a new career—assuming she can stay out of jail . . .

Picture
Harper dug through her closet and pulled out a little red dress that she’d been saving for a special occasion. A charity event with Noah was the perfect place to dust it off. Small crystals edged the hem and bodice, giving the dress sparkle and she needed sparkle. After his comment in the car, she wanted to knock Noah’s feet out from under him.

Since his confession, she’d been feeling warm and fuzzy. Despite locking down her heart with a chain Noah couldn’t break, she just couldn’t completely shake him off.

Yes, she agreed to sex, no frills, all fun, sex. But she couldn’t quite fully give him her trust.

What if they dated, got married, and had kids? Then something crappy happened. Would Noah run for refuge with another woman? He had before. Could she take that risk?

Equal parts of her were worried, and ready, to take the next step. She so wanted to test his lovemaking skills.

With the tide turning away from her as his best suspect, Mignon was unlikely to interrupt her and Noah again. By the end of the evening, she hoped to be knee deep in the sheets with a warm and naked Noah.

After showering and flat ironing her hair for a different look, she put on makeup and a barely-there red bra and matching tiny panties. Next, she slipped into the dress and loved the feel of the satin against her bare skin.

Shoes with sparkles on the straps completed the picture. She’d just found her dress clutch when Noah arrived. She’d left the door unlocked. “You ready?” he called out.

Taking a deep breath with her hand on her chest, she walked into the living room on high heels.

Noah went still. “Wow.”

Dressed in a tux with a white shirt and bowtie, he was heart-stoppingly handsome. Not only had he shaved, but he’d had his hair trimmed. “Yeah, wow back.”

She joined him. He took her hand and kissed the inside of her wrist, sending tingles up her arm. Up close, he smelled spicy and male. If not for the chance to speak to Betty Anne, and having spent too much time on her hair, she would’ve chucked their plans and taken him right to the bedroom.

Noah offered her his arm. “Is it appropriate to be very aroused right now?”

Laughing, she linked her arm through his. “I hear you.” She steered him to the door before she lost her resolve to behave. Going with an attempted baseball analogy, she said, “You’re pitching pheromones that I’m catching.”

He knows he failed her once before. This time he's determined to protect her by any means necessary...

Former police detective Zane Wales won't let history repeat itself. He couldn't save the woman he loved from a brutal assault, so he left the force -- and Caroline Gill's life.

But now a psychopath has her in his vengeful sights. And the only way Zane can keep the strong-willed paramedic safe is to stay close 24/7--even as their reignited desire burns out of control.

Caroline can finally face down her past by helping Zane catch this perp. And she'll give Zane all the passionate healing he needs to show they have a future together.

But a danger they never saw coming will turn their second chance into a lethal, inescapable trap...

Omega Sector: Under Siege

Picture
As a big fan of Janie Crouch's writing, I am so excited to say this - Protector's Instinct is my favorite book of hers! I absolutely loved the storyline, the intensity of the suspense and action was high, the emotions were raw and edgy. The whole story and the characters had depth and development that had me thrilled, the fervor of the feelings between Zane Wales and Caroline Gill took my breath away.
Of course, we met Zane and Caroline in Fully Committed, were the discord of their relationship was obvious. I have been waiting to read their story ever since, and this was even better than I hoped for.
Caroline is a kick-ass heroine. Oh, she is broken and devastated by the attack eighteen months ago, but she is tough, resilient, strong survivor that I admired immensely. The rape and its consequences were dealt in such real and raw yet respectful way. The angst and fear were palpable, as were the determination to overcome and heal from the past.
Zane Wales is a troubled hero with a hot temper yet there is kindness, consideration, generosity, and protectiveness that shines through. His feelings for Caroline are immensely deep, there is nothing he wouldn't do for her. Their always volatile and fragile relationship is filled with hot passion and sweet devotion.
With sharp and vivid images the author paints the story of fierce, energetic romance and brutal, savage action. The attacks against the Omega Sector and their loved ones are bold and enraged. It is obvious that no one is safe, that the culprit is craving for collateral damage. He is spreading his lies, and recruiting vulnerable, aggravated assistance for his vicious attacks.
Volatile action and heated, intense romance with tangible, luscious emotions delivers an alluring tale that was impossible to put down until the explosive yet satisfying ending. Loved it!

Silver Dagger Book Tours for IN FOR THE WIN by Melynda Price

In For the Win
Against the Cage Book 5
by Melynda Price
Genre: Sports Romance, Romantic Suspense

To win his heart, she’ll have to give him the one thing that could drive him away—the truth…

Kyle Scott’s talent for fighting paved the way for a career he never wanted, but needed to survive. Five years later, he doesn’t recognize the man he’s become. All his focus and energy has been poured into raising his little sister, leaving no time or interest for anything beyond a casual hook-up—until he meets a woman who sends his life spiraling out of control.
Penelope Cantrel isn’t looking for love, but she’s always ready for a good time. If she keeps everyone at a distance, they can’t discover how broken she is, or the secrets she’s running from. When she crosses paths with the sexy MMA fighter, Kyle’s reputation as a cage-banging manwhore doesn’t concern her. She isn’t interested in a commitment. But after their white-hot attraction leads to a night of mind-blowing sex, neither of them will ever be the same again.
When Pen starts receiving threatening messages, her deepest fears are realized as she becomes the obsession of a man who will kill to possess her. Concerned for her safety, Kyle offers to pose as her boyfriend to deter her unwanted admirer, but his heated touches and those not-so-innocent kisses don’t feel like he’s acting. Could the infamous playboy be falling for her?
As the threat against Pen escalates, her stalker is closer than they thought. Kyle is the only thing standing between her and a madman, but she fears trusting him with her secrets could be a fatal mistake.

Picture
Tonight, when Pen had crawled into his bed, Kyle foolishly hoped she was feeling it too. But as hot as the sex had been, something was still missing. An emotional connection? He didn’t really know, because he’d never felt or wanted one before. But he’d sensed she was holding a part of herself back.

Their disconnect hadn’t been physical. Fuck, he’d never felt so much pleasure—ungloved and coming inside her. The sensation, the intensity…there were no words. Even now he was growing hard just from the memory. No, that definitely had not been their problem. The issue, he feared, was emotional. And the struggle to synch Pen’s body with her mind was going to be a challenge. Question was, could he do it? Because he was starting to wonder if his efforts wouldn’t be fought at every turn.

Something in her past had broken her. He didn’t know what, how, or by whom, but her reaction to him earlier left little doubt in his mind. And even the possibility that she’d been abused—physical?—sexually?—filled him with such protective rage, a part of him almost feared discovering the truth. But how could he be the glue to help mend her broken pieces if he couldn’t figure out how they fit back together? She was a puzzle, a complex enigma he wanted to solve because deep down he knew the prize would be her heart.

Pen shook her head, looking utterly and completely lost. “I don’t know, Kyle. This isn’t supposed to be real. And it scares me that you’re changing the rules.”

“And you didn’t change the rules when you climbed into my bed? What the fuck was that about, then? You think because you made them, you can break them without consequence? Or is it because I fuck around that you think you get a pass—that this means nothing to me.”

As each word flew out of his mouth, he could see it ratcheting her fear. And yet he couldn’t seem to shut the fuck up. Her defenses were high and there was no getting past those walls, but he kept battering them with his verbal ground and pound assault. He wasn’t leaving this room until one of them tapped. Unfortunately, he was starting to get concerned that someone was going to be him.

She shook her head in denial, stepping back. And because he was a fighter, he advanced—countering her move for move until her retreat was halted by the bed.

“It was a mistake… This was a mistake…”

“Oh, now it’s a mistake? Because I’m not interested in being your boy-toy? Because you’re scared I might actually want something from you, like, oh…an ounce a trust?—a glimmer of emotion? Something to tell me that I might mean something more to you than a cock to get off on!”

Her eyes narrowed, little hands tightening into fists, and he knew he’d pushed her too far.

“What the fuck, Kyle? I thought I was the one with the vagina! Just because we fucked that doesn’t give you a one-way pass into my life. You don’t have any more right to my secrets than I do yours. You don’t see me trying to pry into your private life, do you? We’re friends—with benefits—and if you want us to stay that way then respect my goddamn boundaries.”

“With benefits? Thanks anyway, I think I’ll pass. I can fuck anytime I want, I don’t need you for that.” He turned to storm out, but her parting words won that round and had him tapping out.

“I was talking about the friends part…”

ABOUT T MONIQUE STEPHENS

I wrote my first novel about a reporter and a hockey player after the U.S. hockey team won gold in the 1980 Olympics. I love writing flawed characters who reflect the emotional baggage we all carry. I write complicated stories for complicated people. Paranormal romances and fantasy novels are my favorite genre. I’ll read anything about fairies, demons, or angels, but I also enjoy Stephen King and Preston and Childs.

I’m hooked on Lucifer, The Backlist, The Strain, Vikings, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and BlindSpot. I can’t get enough of these shows!

I was born in St. Thomas USVI, but grew up in The Bronx, New York one mile from Yankee Stadium. I love SyFy, the History channels, and Asian cuisine. But my heart and stomach longs for anything from the Caribbean.

Books & Spoons Review for BLUE RIDGE SUNRISE by Denise Hunter

19/11/2017

Picture
Former free spirit Zoe Collins swore she’d never again set foot in Copper Creek or speak to the man who broke her heart. But return she must when her beloved Granny dies, leaving the family legacy to Zoe--a peach orchard nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

When Zoe returns home with her daughter and boyfriend Kyle, she finds that she’s the only person in town who doesn’t expect her to give up the life she’s established far away from Copper Creek. Everyone believes she was born to run the orchard, but how can she make it her home after so many years?

Cruz Huntley never quite got over his first love Zoe Collins, the little sister of his best friend Brady. Not when she cheated on him during their “break,” not when she took off to parts unknown with good-for-nothing Kyle Jenkins, and not even now—five years later.

As life-changing decisions and a history with Cruz hang over Zoe’s head, tensions rise between her and Kyle. Even as she comes to terms with the shifting relationships in her life, Zoe still isn’t sure if she can remain in Copper Creek with her new responsibilities . . . and her first love.

Picture
I thought this was a Christian novel, but it is not. It does have God mentioned a couple of times, even few prayers are said when in trouble, but the characters, their lives or the story does not demonstrate a personal relationship with God. Also, there is pre-marital sex with consequences, yet that is not ever talked about it regarding their faith and it is applied that it has happened, with others, after the youthful incident. Just to get that message clear out there.
I always review the books in their own category, so if this is not Christian romance novel, am I going to treat it as a contemporary romance novel?
The story was engaging, there was some family drama, life lessons, problems with the ex, and trying to find their place in life mixed with the second chance romance.
I liked the main characters, Cruz Huntley is a strong male lead with admirable character. He was a bit of a hothead as a young man, but he has grown to be a responsible, caring, generous man of good principles and forgiving mind. I loved his dedication to 'Bella' and his open heart and mind towards the sudden changes in his life.
Zoe Collins had made some serious mistakes in her life yet I understood where she was coming from, how her father's behavior had driven her to doubt her own worth, and how low she was at the time when she found out she was pregnant. She is her own worst enemy with the doubts and worries of her character and abilities. Her growth through the story is remarkable, yet it takes a big step back right when I thought she had gained some ground.
The constant shadow of Kyle and the lies that were easily believed shadow the new start in Zoe's life. The danger the threats from Kyle provided some spice and intensity to the tale, bringing it all to a high climax towards the end, with lives in danger.
I liked the story, the plot had some surprises that not only gave this tale new turns but took the whole series forward. I just kept waiting for the revelation that would have come from the characters finding faith in God, growing in faith, and seeing the errors of their past. Since that moment never really came, I was left wanting at the end. Maybe if I would not have expected this, I would have enjoyed the story more, but as it is now, I give it

The second novel in the sizzling Bloody and Glory series—perfect for fans of Katy Evans’s REAL series and Sidney Halston’s Worth the Fight series—reveals that fighting for your heart is sometimes the only way to beat the demons in your soul.

MMA champion Gabriel “The Sandman” Maddox prefers to live his life quietly and intensely. He plays by the rules, respects the sport, and trains harder than any other fighter. It’s this unwavering focus that helps him block out the pain from a devastating loss in his past. He spends his days slaying his monsters in the octagon, and his evenings numbing himself with sexual conquests. With his painful baggage, he’s not looking for anything beyond his no-strings-attached lifestyle.

But journalist Megan Sinclair won’t leave him alone. She’s intensely drawn to Gabe from the moment she meets him, and wants to know more about the secretive man who both intrigues her and makes her heart race. As she gets to know the quiet, brooding fighter, she realizes that giving in to their intense chemistry could mend her scars. Will these two be able to heal each other, or will ghosts from the past keep them apart?

“St. George (A Marriage Deal with the Outlaw) and Wyatt (Necessary Work) have written a fast-paced romance filled with sizzling chemistry, which will have readers rooting for Jules and Nick to find their way back to each other. Verdict: This novel will have broad appeal for readers of sexy contemporary romance, not just those who have an interest in MMA.”
—Library Journal on Dirty Boxing

“A heartfelt story of second chances set in the high stakes world of MMA fighting…a satisfying blend of emotional drama and sizzling love scenes…Dirty Boxing embraces the swirl of confusing emotions that inundate its leads, using the turmoil to deepen their characters and complicate their relationship…Wyatt and St. George also devote considerable space to Nick's close-knit family and Jules' strained relationship with her father, ensuring that the leads' families are complex figures with their own biases and flaws. The result is a romance with a happy ending that, in allowing for the work still to be done, feels all the more rewarding.”

A cold-case Christmas in Mystery, Montana

Yearning to be known as something other than Mystery's ultimate bad boy, rancher Rainier Fitzgerald isn't pleased when he stumbles upon the remains of a dead body. Especially when Officer Laura Blade catches him with a gun in his hand.

Spending Christmas chasing down a cold case with a man she's not supposed to fraternize with isn't granting any of Laura's holiday wishes, either.

But could her favorite time of the year be working its magic on Laura's feelings?
Or is Rainier truly transforming from a charismatic rogue to a hero worthy of her heart?

Picture
This series, Mystery Christmas, has won me over from the book one. The dark and tense atmosphere at the ranch with the drama and trouble surrounding it is a great setting for the riveting series. The complex yet charming characters, the pained past of the adopted brothers, the odd and peculiar attacks and crimes against them - it all makes fascinating entertainment that kept me on the edge.
Ms. Demeanor is a story that can be read as a standalone novel yet having the information and being on the knowledge of the events from the previous stories in the series will give more foundation for the crimes and characters of this story.
The connection between Laura Blade and Rainier Fitzgerald is so natural that it does not surprise me that they bonded immediately, with sparks flying, and ready to swoon from the first accidental touch. Laura was part of the Fitzgerald family as soon as she arrived at the ranch, there was nothing awkward about it or pretentious, they embraced her like she belonged, accepting her as she is.
Rainier is the charmer of the brothers, his smile lights up the room, he is the sunshine for his adopted mother. But there is more to his story than that, of course. He is an ex-convict, on a parole with Laura as his parole officer. Rainier has a good, kind heart. He is protective and fierce, he has no ill intentions but he does fight for justice and what is right. He has humbleness and honesty that I admired, the reasons for his imprisonment understandable as the full story is disclosed.
Rainier's feelings, the instant attraction towards Laura, had a touch of sweetness and bundle of sincerity. Yes, it all developed fast, but it was believable, it was tangible, and it was adorable. But inappropriate? Umm... A bit of a tabu, even a problem when it came to Rainier breaking the law again...
Laura was a hoot. Her love for everything Christmas had me giggling. She might have chosen a career her powerful father pushed her into, she might be the black sheep of her family, but she was capable, tough, and firm when needed. Her heart is bigger than Montana sky, her kindness, consideration towards others, her generous spirit made it so easy for Rainier to fall for her, it was no wonder it took only one look.
It's not only that the ranch seems to be in financial trouble, the skeleton of an old murder victim is found on the property, and the problems Mr. Poe is causing to the Fitzgeralds are escalating, there is tension in the family because of Rainier's homecoming, and it all ignite into an explosive and intense Christmas Eve week.
If you are looking for an enthralling and compelling romantic suspense series with the rough and tough Montana cowboys who fight for justice and protect their own, Mystery Christmas miniseries will provide you just that with the addition of tight family bonds, steaming romance, and intense scenes with horrid crimes. An arresting and alluring conclusion to the fantastic series!

James Cade has one priority: keep the family ranch running smoothly in the wake of his younger brother's death.

With Jesse's ex, Sofia Gallardo, and her young son, Javi, stranded at Cade Ranch over Christmas, this task just got a lot harder. The longer Sofia and Javi stay, the harder it is to imagine the ranch without them.

James couldn't save his brother from his inner demons, but he can give his nephew a secure future. Maybe more—if he can figure out how to trust Sofia, and stop feeling like he's betraying Jesse.

Because trying to stop thinking about beautiful, determined Sofia is impossible.

An emotional and heartfelt story about family, addiction, learning to accept yourself, and allowing yourself to be happy.
I love the author's voice. Her style of writing is so smooth, the story has a lovely, natural flow that pulls you in. The rich and variable plot holds the interest throughout, and I found the book hard to put down, as I was invested in the characters and their lives.
Sofia Gallardo has had a rough life but she is a survivor, and I admired her toughness, her ability to beat her addiction and hold herself clean while being a single mom working in a low-income, constantly changing jobs. The vulnerability, the past hurt, the raw and realistic emotions running through Sofia's mind went straight to my heart. I can't say I could relate to her or should I say know where she has been and understands her pain and situation, but the author paints a picture that shows the challenges clearly, points out the obstacles she has overcome and celebrates the victories she has achieved.
I really loved Sofia, and her son, and the kind of mom she was. The love between those two was palpable, I wanted to reach out and make everything better for them.
And I understand that this was the goal James Cade also had, but oh, I struggled with James. He is a bit too controlling, too adamant, too stubborn, too rude, too unforgiving, he was just too much for me. And I kept reading, hoping there would be redemption for him, that he would overcome his problems with control, and he would see the error of his ways. And yes, he is not completely blind to his overpowering ways to control and command everyone around him, but is it enough and was it too late?!
A story that smoothly blends together the sweetness and magic of Christmas, a family trying to hold it together after a tragedy, the raw and real struggles of addiction, and the Wonderwoman state of survival many single moms perform daily. A story that will touch your heart and makes you appreciate your blessings
