A delightful, inspirational, feel-good, pick-me-up, and let-me-escape novel, a story that will wrap you up in all the feels and the beautiful autumn scenery of western North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains.
I have not read the previous two novels in the series, and while I realize it would have enriched my reading experience, it didn't hinder me from enjoying this charming tale of young adults finding their destinies. I have had the pleasure to live in those mountains for several years and the sceneries the author painted with her words were vivid, a picture like, and true to nature. Grace Bennett is a young woman, only 21 years old, yet she knows what she wants to do with her life, her future well planned ahead of her. Grace seemed to have the need to prove herself, her ability to run her business, and as an adult to her siblings. At first, she seemed a bit immature but she grew on me as the story unfolded. Secret Service agent Wyatt Jennings is the quiet, serious type. He is at the crossroads with his career, and he believes that facing his childhood nightmare will give him the peace of mind (and sleep) he has been looking for. The attraction between Grace and Wyatt is adorable and sweet, yet complicated as they live very different kinds of lifestyles. The hiking and camping scenes as Grace and Wyatt get to know each other were charming and entertaining, with a touch of danger giving the tale a little spice. The plot twist that they stumble on - that took me by surprise - bring up deep emotions and severe trauma from their past. I liked how especially Wyatt was grounded in his faith in God, seeking guidance and trusting in God to give him direction in his life. While the protagonists and their loved ones are assumed to be Christians, and faith is referenced a few times as they ponder about their lives and futures, the story avoids any kind of preaching or directly talking about Christianity. In this very unpredictable world, I love to escape into the romance novels that in a charmingly sure-fire way, with great anticipation takes my mind to a sort of a happy place where love wins, faith is grounded, families grow, and people find their serendipity, cause there are few things as appealing than two people falling in love, finding their soulmates, their true north. Denise Hunter is a talented storyteller who balances the ingredients of the stories just so that you come to the end of the book with a happy, satisfied sigh. A captivating and heartening, heartwarming and enjoyable - just all-around pleasing and wholesome tale of life and love ~ Four Spoons

On the run for their lives…and straight toward a killer.
Sergeant Flynn Cruz-Street’s estranged half brother is a threat to society. To catch him, Flynn must join forces with JAG paralegal Vikki Colton. Vikki proves to be a brilliant investigator, and what starts as a reluctant partnership soon blossoms into an irresistible attraction. But as they work tirelessly to track down the dangerous criminal, Flynn and Vikki must resist the sparks between them…or risk losing their very lives. |
Potent tension, fervent fight for survival and justice, agonizing between family loyalty and code of honor and honesty; a twisted, messy, and dangerous case that puts JAG paralegal Vikki Colton's life to danger and heart in line.
I've only read one previous book in this series, and I noticed early on that it would have benefited me greatly to read all the books in order as many of the characters keep appearing in this story, touching their own storylines, and I was lost. My bad.
The suspense case in Hot Pursuit is just what the name promises. It delivers, and it is a fiery fight for life, a fight for catching the culprits before they catch the good guys, a fight for what is right both legally and in the minds of the protagonists when it comes to their families.
The attraction between Vikki and Sergeant Flynn Cruz-Street is a palpable force in the story. It is obvious that they are interested in each other, that their emotions are in the play. Yet the constant, repetitive pull-push they both play with is frustrating at first and annoying towards the end.
Many of the questions are answered and problems solved, still, there are more books to come in the series and thus some of the puzzle pieces are missing, and not all the Colton siblings are safe yet.
A captivating multi-author mini-series with enthralling love stories and riveting suspense.

An ice-cold mountain. A deadly enemy. A scorching-hot desire they can’t ignore.
After escaping from kidnappers in the Montana wilderness, Lindsey Garcia is her best friend’s only hope for rescue. But when her enemies trap her on the mountain with a sexy stranger she’s not sure she can trust, both her life and her heart are in danger. Former special operator Todd Brennan is on a personal hunt for a killer when he saves Lindsey from a deadly fall. He plans to get her to the nearest town and renew his pursuit, but a fatal encounter forces him to choose between love and justice. |
A breathtaking story filled with suspenseful adventure and ardent yet sweet romance that puts trust and loyalty to the line and makes you question everything and everyone...
From the very first scene, this story amazed me and allured me in for this fight for life venture that I didn't dare to even expect. Lindsey Garcia is brave, smart, loyal, strong, and so courageous. She is one of those heroines that are easy to admire and like and root for. And the Former special operator Todd Brennan was like the other half of the whole with Lindsey. They complimented each other well by their talents, personalities, and abilities, they got each other, and the bond and attrition between them were palpable and believable from the start.
Todd and Lindsey are delightful together. The passion burns hot, the attraction delectably luscious in the detailed scenes that also demonstrates the growing bond and connection between them. Yes, it has been a while since I read a book with this level of heat, yet the love scenes were well twined into the tale demonstrating the fragile feels and high emotions storming between Todd and Lindsey.
The suspense is filled with twists and unexpected turns, it is brutal, exciting, and the fact that they are fighting the elements of nature, as well as the very dangerous, long-reaching culprits, brought a double the intensity to the tale. The consequences of the action they had to take were serious, bringing yet another layer of fear into the brittle situation.
This story captivated my mind so much so that I ended up inhaling it at once. The peril, the betrayals, the danger, the passion, the tender new relationship, and the charming characters, it all enticed me, and the story delivered beyond my expectations!
A fab romantic suspense read that is easy to recommend

When ruthless killers target them, even a safe house isn’t safe.
Only twenty-four hours remain until marshal Nick McKenna’s informant, Lori Carpenter, will testify against a powerful drug cartel. Nick has kept her safe for an entire year, but now all hell is breaking loose. With a team of cold-blooded assassins closing in, the by-the-book lawman decides to go rogue. He’ll risk his life for duty…and put it all on the line for his irresistible witness. |
Intense suspense, brutal action, and slow-building romance; an explosive and entertaining start for a new series.
With an interesting twist of humanizing the villain and giving them nearly as much attention as the protagonists get, this story captured my attention. The timeframe is another intriguing factor, as marshal Nick McKenna has been guarding informant Lori Carpenter for a year but now they have fiery 24 hours to make it alive to the testimony.
The suspense and action are amazingly done, the action is savage and scary, the fight to stay alive is intense, nothing is guaranteed.
The marshals took some artistic liberties for the sake of the storyline, but nothing that dimmed the enjoyment of the tale. Nick was a complex hero, not the easiest to like. He considered the past year as a punishment for mixing personal and professional life before, his ex was still part of the team, and that was made into an issue at the beginning that was never solved in this book, probably coming up again later in the series, I am assuming, as the series cliffhanger at the end of this book gave me the impression the stories in this series are well entwined.
Lori and Nick had been getting to know each other over the past year while he was protecting her. I was mesmerized to find out how they could make this situation work for them in a long run, yet that solution was never presented to the readers, giving more of a happy-for-now moment that was suddenly interrupted as well...
An exciting and arresting start to a new series that promises to be filled with potent suspense and fervent action with a side of ardent romance.

Ride along on the riveting cases of the Tactical Crime Division — TCD. An elite team of FBI agents specializing in high-risk threats.
When a terrorist is on the loose, the Tactical Crime Division is on the case. To find out who poisoned medications, two of TCD’s agents are tapped to go undercover posing as a married couple and infiltrate the company. But as soon as Jace Cantrell and Laura Smith arrive at Stroud Pharmaceuticals, someone ups the ante by planting explosives in their midst. Turns out that the small-town family business is hiding a million secrets. Could they unknowingly be protecting a vengeful killer? |
An explosive tale of intense investigation and sizzling romance between two conflicted FBI agents who pretend to be married for the sake of the investigation.
Jace Cantrell and Laura Smith and their conflicted relationship were mentioned in the previous book of the series, and finally, we found out what was aching between them. While Jace and Laura seem like the opposites in their approach to their careers and in their background, they have more in common than they expected. They both are dedicated, hard-working, smart, and capable in their jobs, and as they get to know each other, they have that in tune and harmonious soulmate type vibe that is so attractive in a couple.
I loved the play between them, the attraction that was obvious, I kinda wish there would have been more flirt between them before the building-up-attraction turned into a scorching fire.
The investigation of the mounting crimes in the small town is not easy. The suspicion and distrust and uncertainty is palpable, there's a strain in the air in the small community, as the blasts keep detonating.
I truly enjoyed the story, the interaction of different characters, and the escalation of the situation, the developing of the flirty romance was engaging and enticing, so much so that I ended up inhaling the tale at once. A marvelous ending for the multi-author mini-series!

Cindi Myers became one of the most popular people in eighth grade when she and her best friend wrote a torrid historical romance and circulated it among their peers. Fame was short-lived, however; the English teacher confiscated the manuscript and advised her to concentrate on learning to properly diagram a sentence. From this humbling beginning, she has gone on to write more than 80 novels that have been translated into more than a dozen languages and distributed all over the world. Her books have been praised for their emotion, humor and realistic characters. She writes stories about relationships that matter, whether the subject is friendship, families, or the love between a man and a woman.

Ride along on the riveting cases of the Tactical Crime Division — TCD. An elite team of FBI agents specializing in high-risk threats.
For the Tactical Crime Division, no case is left cold. When Benning Reeves’s twins are kidnapped, the frantic father knows who can help: the Tactical Crime Division and Ana Ramirez. Even though Ana once shattered Benning’s heart, the special agent is the only one he can trust. But Ana is still tormented by the unresolved case that brought them together years before—a case somehow entangled with Benning’s children. It’s up to the TCD and Ana to discover why…before it’s too late. |
Midnight Abduction hits all the emotions, it digs deep, it is gripping, potent, and powerful with the force of feels ranging from adoration, to regret to fear and back. The tale mesmerized me. The danger is constantly present, nothing is given, the fight for survival is fierce, and peril is near and deathly. The up, close, and dangerous fight for life, the many hits, the gun-wounds, the unknown culprits, the constant terror of the kids' survival - - it is riveting, it is captivating, making the book unputdownable with the need to know more.
Benning Reeves and Ana Ramirez have a painful history that had drastic consequences on both of their lives. I loved the honesty and respect they had for each other. They talked about the hard things, Benning was transparent about his relationship to his kids' mother, he was honest about his fears and wishes for the future, about his feelings towards Ana. At first, I was puzzled with Ana's reasoning of her life choices, yet as the story progress and she opened up and the plot develops, understanding dawned.
Nichole Severn writes dynamic romantic suspense where the intrigue is explosive and intense and the romance is ardent yet sweet and clean. I love her books, I enjoy the high energy and tense atmosphere of them, and I think Midnight Abduction is my favorite book of hers to date. With the fragile emotional turbulence and the vulnerability of the protagonists, it just touched me even deeper and broader than others before.
Romantic suspense at its best form, I highly recommend Midnight Abduction. It is a book that left me in awe and gave me the best kind of book hangover. Loved it!

Ride along on the riveting cases of the Tactical Crime Division — TCD. An elite team of FBI agents specializing in high-risk threats.
In the wake of a tragedy, the Tactical Crime Division is the first call. When ironclad body armor inexplicably fails and soldiers perish, the Tactical Crime Division jumps into action. Agent and former ranger Davis Rogers asks to go undercover to find the traitor responsible for the death of one of his friends, and Petrov Armor CEO Leila Petrov is happy to provide access to her company…especially once she discovers she’s being framed. But will their joint efforts be enough to uncover the truth? |
Grief, betrayal, secrets, and loyalties are driving this intense investigation to the devastating loss of soldiers on the field, and the CEO Leila Petrov is doing everything in her power to clear her company's name.
Leila has fought her way to the top even though many think that she is there just because of her bloodline. She is hardworking, smart, loyal, capable, professional and she is willing to fight for what she believes is right. I liked her, her drive, her ability to handle tough situations.
The former ranger Davis Rogers is an intense hero. He is driven and he has a mission being willing to do anything to accomplish it. He had to grow on me, I really had to get to know him a bit more to like him and root for him. And to root for Leila and him as a couple, though there's very little attention given for their relationship to develop and grow to be something significant.
The secondary couple with conflict from the team of investigators once again in a shorter length of a book felt - to me - an unnecessary distraction.
Heiter writes potent investigation scenes that twists and curve like a mountain road, never knowing what is coming around the corner. I love her style to build up the anticipation and keep the readers on a riveting edge until the end.

New York Times bestselling author Carla Cassidy delivers nonstop suspense and magnetic romance in the first book of Tactical Crime Division, featuring the best of the best in crime solving.
The Tactical Crime Division—TCD—is a specialized unit of the FBI. They handle the toughest cases in the most remote locations. When TCD learns of a school invasion turned lockdown, every agent is ready to engage. With children in jeopardy, the stakes couldn’t be higher. But it becomes personal for hostage negotiator agent Evan Duran when he learns Annalise Taylor is one of the captives holed up with the students in a school for the gifted. He’ll need every resource available at TCD and every ounce of his expertise to turn this disastrous situation into a rescue mission—and if he succeeds, maybe reunite with the woman he never stopped loving. |
Exciting and intense moments of suspense during the hostage negotiation that brings face to face old lovers while battling against a cult of culprits.
Carla Cassidy knows how to bring the readers to the edge and hold them there throughout the story. I have always enjoyed the way she tells her riveting tales. There's danger, there's passion, there is growth, there're twists and unexpected developments, thrilling, entertaining stories I love to read.
I was super excited about the 48 Hour Lockdown since I haven't had a chance to read Carla Cassidy's books for a little awhile. When I realized it was part of a new multi-author series, I went to investigate a bit more since serial novels are not for me but this one has a new hero and heroine in each installment and conclusion to the story in each book - so not a problem for me.
The Intrigue books from Harlequin are shorter in length and have the suspense on the front thus the romance gets a little less spotlight and chance to develop. It was fantastic that Evan Duran and Annalise Taylor knew each other from before, the history they had didn't end well, but the reasons for that were revealed and worked on. Evan's past demons were something he learned to recognize and knowledged to work on them. Annalise's as well had grown and matured over the time apart.
While I understand that the authors need to create the feel for the continuing series the focus and time spent on the other team members felt - for me personally - unnecessarily long. I wish that time and space could have been given to show the chemistry between Evan and Annalise, (too) much was left to the reader's imagination when it came to the connection, bond, and zizzle between them.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Survive.
Marilyn Ellis is finally putting her life back together. The domestic abuse she suffered may be labeled textbook by therapists, but it’s the parts she’s never told anyone that haunt her. She refuses to get trapped in that hell ever again. Former Special Forces soldier turned rancher Noah Dempsey is more than capable of training the delicate single mom in moves and tactics that will help her feel safe. But his own tortured past makes him decidedly less qualified for anything more. No matter how much her big eyes—and even bigger heart—draw him in. However, when unexpected danger arrives in their small town, Noah knows this is a woman worth fighting for. Worth fighting beside. And he’s going to be the one to do it. She needs a hero. He’ll have to remember how to be one. |
Wow. The highly anticipated tale of Noah and Marilyn is here and I adored every single moment of the story: the threat, the danger, the sweetly slow yet ardent romance building up... just brilliant.
Another brilliant thing that was done so smoothly and what seemed effortlessly - combining three different series into one book, and in one of those series the author was just visiting on. The overlapping of tales and couples was well done and it was lovely to visit with some of the old friends and scenes from another aspect.
The abuse Marilyn has suffered and survived is unimaginable and cruel, yet that whole situation with her past was done with respect and discreet way. I love Noah and his way to honor and respect Marilyn on every step of the way while she overcomes her abuse. The connection Noah builds with Marilyn's kids just made me smile.
The constant thread is possibly deadly, and the couple has to face the dangers of lunatic man as well as of nature in what felt like a fast-paced fight for a better tomorrow. The story covers a longer time period than most romantic suspense books, spanning over several months, giving the chance for the natural progress of the romance.
Linear Tactical series is one of my favorites, each story winning my heart over in a different way for different reasons. And Storm is no exception, it has several scenes that will linger in my mind for a long time, and it is definitely a book I can highly recommend with winning, charming, lovable characters, intense suspense and danger, and romance that swept me off my feet... Unputdownable entertainment!

Before long, their budding romance must face a custody battle with Austin’s in-laws and yet another scandal. Determined not to let each other go a second time, they set out to prove that it’s true what they say: love really does conquer all. |
A high tempo tale of falling in love and new beginnings, of family drama, the past catching up to mess the present when a one-time blessing turns into a hindrance to happiness in the future.
When everything happens at once and your emotions are high and intense - especially when children are involved - things have a chance to turn a bit horrendously comical. And Delores Fossen surely knows how to create those scenes where you do not know if you laugh until you have tears in your eyes or just cry cause all the feels, but at least you swoon cause all the hot cowboys.
I enjoyed this story immensely, it pulled me into the swirling world of intriguing characters, insane happenings, and profound emotions. I adored Austin Jameson and his twin girls, he is such a great father, caring, fun, considerate, and protective. I loved that to build a new relationship with McCall Dalton there was no need to make his former wife and his love for her any less than it was (often happens in romance novels). But it was celebrated, her memory was cherished, and the adorable girls told stories about her.
So much happens in a short time, it seems like a tornado of events toss everything up in the air and changes everyone's lives in one swift sweep. And as the ending came a bit abruptly, I am excited to know this book was part of a series, and more mayhem and romance are to come. So hold on to your stetsons cause there's a new western romance series to be followed, and knowing Fossen's style, it is going to be one with passion, sensation, drama, and humor.
