#1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Wiggs sweeps readers away to a sun-drenched summer on the shores of Willow Lake in a stunning tale of the delicate ties that bind a family together… and the secrets that tear them apart…
When caregiver Faith McCallum arrives at the enchanted, lakeside estate of Avalon's renowned Bellamy family, she's intent on rebuilding her shattered life and giving her two daughters a chance at a better future. But she faces a formidable challenge in the form of her stubborn and difficult new employer, Alice Bellamy. While Faith proves a worthy match for her sharp-tongued client, she often finds herself at a loss for words in the presence of Mason Bellamy—Alice's charismatic son, who clearly longs to escape the family mansion and return to his fast-paced, exciting life in Manhattan…and his beautiful, jet-setting fiancée. The last place Mason wants to be is a remote town in the Catskills, far from his life in the city, and Faith McCallum is supposed to be the key to his escape. Hiring the gentle-hearted yet strong-willed caregiver as a live-in nurse gives his mother companionship and Mason the freedom to return to his no-attachments routine. For Faith, it means stability for her daughters and a much-needed new home. When Faith makes a chilling discovery about Alice's accident, Mason is forced to reconsider his desire to keep everyone, including his mother, at a distance. Now he finds himself wondering if the supercharged life he's created for himself is what he truly wants…and whether exploring his past might lead to a new life—and lasting love—on the tranquil shores of Willow Lake
He picked up the résumé on top—Chandler Darrow. “So this guy was great. He’s got an impressive list of credentials—top of his class at SUNY New Paltz, with references from grateful families for the past ten years.”
“No,” said Alice, glaring at the photo attached to the résumé. “He’s perfect. Single, good personality, seemed really caring.” “He had shifty eyes.” “What?” “His eyes—they look shifty. You can see it in the picture.” “Mom—” “No.” Gritting his teeth, Mason arranged his face into a smile as he picked up the next one—Marianne Phillips, who also had flawless references, including the fact that she had worked for the Rockefeller family. “She smelled like garlic,” his mother said. “No, she didn’t.” Shit, thought Mason. This was not going well. “I’ve lost most of my abilities, but not my sense of smell. I can’t stand garlic. You know that.” “Okay, next. Darryl Smits.—” “Don’t even bother. I can’t stand the name Darryl.” “I don’t even know what to say to that.” “I just said it--no.” “Casey Halberg.” “She was the one wearing Crocs. Who wears Crocs to an interview? They look like hooves.” “Jesus—” “I didn’t like him, either. Jesús Garza. In fact, you can cross all the men off the list right now and save us a lot of trouble.” She paused to gaze thoughtfully at the display of family photos on the baby grand. “I’ve never had much luck with men,” she added softly. “What?” He had no idea what she was talking about. “Never mind,” Mason added, not wanting to get distracted. “Let’s go back over the female candidates.” She sighed impatiently then glared again at the photo display. There were pictures of her parents—Mason’s grandparents—who lived in Florida. Immediately following his mother’s accident, they had worn themselves out trying to take care of her. Then her dad had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and Mason had stepped in. His mom’s brothers, who ran a seaplane service in Alaska, were too far away to pitch in. “Why is there a piano in here?” his mother demanded. “You’ve owned that piano all your life. You love piano music,” Mason pointed out. “Everybody in the family plays.” He’d taken lessons as a kid and used to be really good, but he hadn’t played in years. Why was that? He liked making music, but he just didn’t bother anymore. “Every time I look at that thing,” his mother said, “it reminds me that I used to be able to play a dozen Chopin nocturnes from memory. Now my piano is nothing but a display area for old photos.” “We thought you might like having someone in to play for you every once in a while.” “Like you?” Touché. “I’m pretty rusty, but I’ll try to play for you whenever I’m around, Mom.” “That’s just it, you’re never around.” “Hey, check it out,” he said, brandishing one of the résumés, “the woman named Dodie Wechsler says she plays piano and put herself through school giving lessons.” “She was the chatty one,” said his mother. “She talked too much.” “Mom, I get that you’ve lost your independence. We all wish you didn’t need a single soul to take care of you. But the reality is, you do. So we damn well better pick somebody, and soon.” “All the people we met today are unacceptable. There’s not a single one in the bunch I can stand.” “Mabel Roberts.” “Too churchy.” “What?” “She kept mentioning what a blessing everything is—this house, the lake, the beginning of summer. I’d feel as if she were judging me all the time.” “She had a positive attitude. That’s a good thing.” Alice sniffed and looked away. “I get it, Mom. The person you need doesn’t exist. Because the person you need is a freaking saint. Just not a churchy one.” They had run through all the candidates his assistant had found, except one—a last-minute addition of someone named Faith McCallum. Her profile on a jobs website looked promising, though Brenda hadn’t scheduled a meeting with her yet. What were the chances that she could be the one? Could she be strong enough to handle Alice Bellamy? Though there was no photograph attached, Mason liked this candidate already. He liked the name—Faith McCallum. It was a sturdy name, even though his mother might think it sounded churchy. It was the name of a person who was organized, in control and classy. The name of a person whose life ran as smoothly as a Tesla motor, and whose saintly qualities would bring peace to the household.

M. A. Stacie is never without a book or her eReader. A voracious reader, with a love of sexy, yet angst ridden novels, she loves getting lost in new worlds. Her need to write did not grip her until after her second son was born, when her previous rambles became fully fledged stories.
She describes herself as one huge contradiction, and though not the most conventional of hobbies, she counts getting new tattoos as one of hers. Along with running, knitting, and listening to loud music. However, she is yet to work out how to do them all at the same time. M. A. Stacie lives in the UK with her husband and three sons.
She squealed when he grasped her waist and picked her up. His actions came as a shock, his strength too. Her protest hovered on the tip of her tongue, though she never actually said anything. His serious expression and determined strides were enough to keep her mouth closed.
Until he crushed his lips to hers. At that point she knew where it was heading, understood what he meant when heâd shouted. He was sick of holding back. Asher was taking what he wanted and ignoring any possible consequences. Emma clung to him, their kisses growing deeper and more forceful as he carried her to his bedroom. She kept hold of him as he sat on the edge of his bed, moving her so that she straddled his lap. Theyâd been here before, only this time the air was electrified, sparks bursting from their touches. He wasnât going to deny them this time. She could sense from his heated kisses and desperate touches that he was all in. She blinked, her head spinning when he grabbed her loose T-shirt and pulled it over her head. He tossed it, not caring to look where it landed. Asher drank her in, his chocolate eyes melting as they perused her chest. A fire ignited low in her belly, her blood burning through her veins. Sheâd experienced lust before, however this with Asher was laced with something else. Something deeper. Slowly, too slowly, he stroked a single finger over the swell of her breast. Her nipples tightened as she silently begged for him to cup them. Her will was enough, because those amazing fingers dipped under the lace of her bra before palming her breast. His eyes never left hers. His touch grew firmer, more demanding. âMore,â she whispered. âAsher, more.â He kissed her long and hard. At the same time she began unbuttoning his shirt, her fingers fumbling so much Asher ended up finishing the job for her. He didnât stop with his shirt. After rolling her onto his bed, he stood and shucked off his jeans, sliding them down his legs before kicking them across the room. âNo more barriers,â he rasped and pulled his underwear off too. His scars were exposed to her, the skin pink and puckered near his navel. There really were no barriers. Still expecting him to back out, Emma held a bit of herself back. The rejection would sting a little less if she did. However, that became difficult when he hovered over her, pressing his body against hers. His eyes were hooded, and she could feel the heavy thump of his heart when she touched his chest. Hers was as rapid, the thrill of possibility surging in every cell. The connection with Asher was strong, very strong, and much more consuming than anything sheâd ever felt before. He peered through the peephole. Chloe was standing on the front porch, large sunglasses over her eyesâeven though it was nighttimeâand wearing a belted trench coat.
When he opened the door, he gazed down to her bare legs and sky-high black heels. âMr. Osprey?â she asked, her lips a bright cherry red. He leaned on the door and raised an eyebrow. âYes.â Her pink tongue slipped out, wetting her bottom lip. âMy handler said you have hired my services for the night. I only accept cash.â He nearly swallowed his tongue. So she wanted to play some Pretty Woman role, huh? He went from kinda hard to full mast. âWe agreed on two grand and I get you until two in the morning.â He deliberately leered. âAll of you. Every inch of you. However I want you. Suit you, Princess?â The lapels of her trench coat quivered. âSuits me.â âGreat.â He stepped back and gestured inside. âCome in, please.â She brushed past him and he smelled strawberries. He shut and locked the door, then turned around to face Chloe. Sheâd taken her sunglasses off and her hands were on her untied belt. In one practiced move, she flung open the edges of the coat and rolled her shoulders so the khaki material fluttered to the ground at her feet. Grant had to shoot out a hand to brace himself on the wall because he suddenly had vertigo. The physical parts of Chloe he loved the most were encased in lavender laceâa bra that didnât cover much, because he could see her hardened nipples poking through. Her thong didnât cover much except for a small triangle scrap, hiding her pussyâwhich he knew she shaved bareâfrom his view. Jesus, all that skin, that delicious lace, all for him. She watched him with those green eyes, a sexy smirk to her mouth. She slowly twisted, so that her ankles were crossed, and showed him her back, she looked at him through her lashes over her shoulder. Only a string ran along the top of her ass and between her crease. He was hard in his jeans, ridiculously so, and he hadnât even touched her yet. Hadnât yet taken that mouth or plunged his fingers in that tight heat. He was going to do all of that and then some. He stepped toward her. âHands on the wall. Ass out.â

She turned her face up to his, her lips reaching for him. He cupped her face gently with his hands and proceeded to kiss her thoroughly, deeply, until neither of them had the desire to speak. The emotions she evoked in him were like nothing heâd ever experienced. The first night heâd met her at the bar heâd wanted to go to bed with her. Heâd had an insane attraction to her, found her gorgeous and drop-dead sexy, and now he wanted her even more, was even more
attracted. Except now he also wanted to wake up with her, wanted to know every part of her. Matt kissed her until she couldnât stand on her own. Her knees wobbled. He picked her up, sat her on the counter, and stood between her legs. Everything became hotter, fast. Their hands bumped into each other, competing for access, and he let her win as she pulled his shirt off. He lifted her and walked with her legs wrapped around his waist into his bedroom. âYouâre not carrying me.â He didnât feel like pointing out that she made no attempt to disengage herself. âI am, because I donât want you to let go.â âWell, itâs not very smart, because of your leg injury.â âSex rule number one? Donât remind a guy about any inadequacies.â She laughed softly and leaned forward to kiss his neck. âWe both know your ego isnât that fragile. Maybe you should use a cane.â He dropped her on the bed, both of them laughing. He followed her down only to have her wrestle him underneath her. She straddled him, out of breath. When he made eye contact with her, the humor was gone, something changing in her expression. His room was dark, but the faint glow of light from the hallway streamed through, enough that he could make out every expression, every flicker in her eyes. She leaned down, took his hands off her waist, and placed them beside his head. She didnât break his stare. There was a look in her eyes, something other than desire. The room was quiet except for the sound of their breathing. He waited, knowing she needed to make the next move, knowing this wasnât going to be like anything heâd ever experienced. God, heâd wait forever, even if it killed him. She sat there, on top of him, and he sensed he was being evaluated, tried for some crime he had or hadnât committed. He tried to figure her out, as heâd done countless times before, studying her unreadable expression. After another minute he slowly lowered his hands to grasp her thighs, feeling the heat through the soft denim. He didnât say a word as he grasped the edge of her sweater and she lowered her head as he lifted it off and tossed it to the floor. His gaze roamed over her bared torso appreciatively, taking in the full breasts, the black lace bra. With self-control he hadnât known he possessed, he kept his hands on her waist, her soft, pale skin a contrast to his. Her eyes were still on him, like she was expecting something. He knew her guard hadnât come down yet. He didnât have her trust yet. And he knew she wasnât waiting for words. Whatever darkness Kate had, whatever wounds, he knew they wouldnât be healed by some compliments. He knew that what she needed from him wasnât words.
A moving and evocative exploration of grief and guilt in the wake of one family's devastating loss.
When former DC journalist Abigail Wolff attempts to rehabilitate her career, she finds herself at the heart of a US army cover-up involving the death of a soldier in Afghanistan -- with unspeakable emotional consequences for one family. As the story of what happened comes to light, Abigail will do anything to write it. The more evidence she stumbles upon in the case, the fewer people it seems she can trust, including her own father, a retired army general. And she certainly never expected to fall in love with the slain soldier's brother, Gabe, a bitter man struggling to hold his family together. The investigation eventually leads her to an impossible choice, one of unrelenting sacrifice to protect those she loves. Beyond the buried truths and betrayals, questions of family loyalty and redemption, Abigail's search is, most of all, a desperate grasp at carrying on and coping -- and seeking hope in the impossible.
Even though this tale is told in first person, from only Abigail's point of view, it has the depth and clarity, to give a well rounded picture of the events that take place in this blood chilling story. And it's not the suspense that makes the story so thrilling, it is the idea, of how close to reality some of this could be, in any given day..
The web of lies, cover up, conspiracy, and evasion seems to never end when Abigail and Gabe starts to investigate the murder of Zack, Gabe's brother. The appearing and disappearing evidence, the spying, and veiled threats, phone calls, all are proving that something isn't right, and Abigail is determined to find the truth, no matter what the cost. Until the cost of revealing the truth, seems just too much for anyone to pay. This was such a powerful story, story about trust, truth, deceit, and love. The relationships between the characters are realistic, and often raw. The family drama, loyalty, and protectiveness, the support of the friends, the connection Abigail has with her best friend, and colleagues. And with Gabe and his family. Abigail and Gabe, there's a lot of ups and downs in their relationship, but within the situation they live in, the close connections they both have to the case, it would be expected. Still, they learned to be honest with each other, even when it hurt, and finding a way to forgiveness, and a path they could walk together, supporting each other. My heart went out to the families involved in the story, the consequences they all paid, for mistakes, cover up, and careless words. There's so much pain, agony, and sorrow with the death of Zack, and the events that lead to it, not to mention in the events after it. The healing process is not easy, at some instances not even possible. They all paid a price, and they all have to learn to live with it, learn to let go, and move on. Try to build some kind of future with the facts they know. So many life lessons within the story, so much to take in, evaluate and study. I think it will take some time, until this story settles in with me, it is a one, that will not be easily forgotten and left behind. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

From the author of The Farther I Fall comes an action-filled romance in which two lovers discover that the best thing about being lost is having someone find you...
CIA operative Lee Wheeler is glad to be back in the field, even if the assignment is at a backwater station in Colombia—what he considers punishment for crossing lines in an attempt to save his brother's life. Either way, he's ready for action. But he never could have predicted the action he's about to get... Doctor Zoe Rodriguez is in charge of a clinic in a tiny town on the edge of the rain forest. She's still dealing with a traumatic experience she had in Mexico—a trauma she wouldn't have survived if it weren't for Lee. So when they unexpectedly cross paths again, unresolved wounds rise to the surface, and their mutual passion flares to life. But when a new threat reveals itself, Lee and Zoe's reunion takes on echoes of the past that may ruin their chance for a future.
Fast paced action from the page one, that took a hold of me, and kept the interest through the story. The prologue is filled with intense feelings of fear and desperation. It sets a tone for the story, with heart racing jittery.
When there was not anxiety and dread from the militia, there was a medical emergency of some kind. The scare and uneasiness keep the constant hold. The connection between Lee and Zoe from the start is difficult, even though the attraction is there on both sides, their careers take them on the opposite sides of the world, not to mention the emotional reminder of when they first met. The relationship takes time to develop, it is realistic, and delicate. The love scenes are passionate, and detailed. Zoe seems to be a magnet for trouble and danger, Lee is there every time to rescue her, until the tables turn. There's action, suspense, torture, and several dangerous escapes, the exhausting life in the clinic with the medical personnel, and sweet affairs of the heart, making it strong entertainment ~ Four Spoons
Can the bad boy of Copper Ridge, Oregon, make good—and win the rodeo girl of his dreams?
Kate Garrett keeps life simple—working hard, riding her beloved horses, playing cards with her brothers. Lately, though, she feels a bit restless, especially when family friend Jack Monaghan is around. Sexy and shameless, Jack is the kind of trouble you don't tangle with unless you want your heart broken. Still, Kate could always use his help in learning how to lasso someone a little less high-risk… Jack can't pinpoint the moment the Garrett brothers' little sister suddenly stopped seeming so…little. Now here he is, giving flirting tips to the one woman who needs zero help turning him on. Love's a game he's never wanted to play. But he'll have to hurry up and learn how before the best thing that ever entered his life rides right back out again…
Through the series, readers have been watching Jack and Kate banter and argue. I for one, have been waiting to read their story, because I knew there would be some fireworks going off.
And yes, there was passion, fire, and steam. They have a rare connection, that is sweet, tender, fiery, and combustible at the same time. But the road to the passion, accepting the attraction they feel for each other wasn't easy. First, there were Kate's brothers, Jack's best friends, whom he didn't want to betray. But also, Kate was so ornery towards Jack, it was nearly unpleasant. Her attitude needed some serious adjustment. The flirting games and coaching they agreed on, soon spreads out of control like a wild fire. And they find themselves sharing things with each other, they never expected to talk about aloud. The connection Jack and Kate have, helped them, for the first time, open up about things about their parents, the failures and mistakes of their parents, that had such an impact on their lives. Together they talked and shared about the pain, fears, and dreams, and connected on a new level. They truly saw each other, as they were, and those conversations helped them to grow as a person, set new goals in their lives, and a want to be a better version of themselves. The story broke my heart a bit, there was so much pain and agony in Jack and Kate's hearts and minds. That pain, and self doubts, cost them to hurt each other, and I would have liked to see a little bit more of the good things after the dust settled, after all the misery before. I have loved reading the stories about the Garrett siblings, how they fell in love, and found their place in the world, all of them are such heartfelt stories ~ Four Spoons and a teaspoon on the side
The Coltons of Oklahoma series continues…and for one Colton doctor, the prognosis is deadly…
After a hit-and-run, all the frightened victim can remember is the handsome Dr. Eric Colton, who rescued her. She has no identity and no memory, other than the flash of a gunshot and a man's name. But she knows she's in grave danger. Eric can't explain his irresistible attraction to the mystery woman who, in hours, transforms him from workaholic surgeon to vigilant bodyguard. He can't let her out of his arms, not when danger stalks her. But why? What lies hidden in her mind? Eric doesn't know what she's forgotten, but he knows people will kill to ensure she never remembers…and it's up to him to stop them.
Dr Eric Colton is acting out of character: he sees a Mystery Woman been hit by a car, intentionally, and his life is changed forever. The attraction between MW (Mystery Woman) and Eric is so strong, it is like a magnet pulling them together. Eric opens up his heart, his wallet, and his home to take care of her, without knowing anything about her or her past, only that someone is repeatedly trying to kill her. For Eric to risk everything, to protect and safeguard MW, shows how deeply he is attracted to her.
I enjoyed the Colton family, I read the first book in the series, and they are a great bunch of people, the siblings are fun, the family dynamics a bit dysfunctional, and there's always a lot of drama around them. It was nice to catch up with the family again. There's a great insight into Eric, his personality, and why he has always felt an outsider with his own family, the resentment he feels for his parents, and how he built his own life and future despite the lack of support from his family. Even with amnesia, MW's true personality comes forward. Her kindness, helpfulness, thoughtfulness, and her love for cooking and baking. Together MW and Eric makes a great team, they seem to compliment each other in many ways, and the chemistry between them is unique, passionate, and appealing. When the details of MW's past start to reveal, the intensity and danger increase in the story. Every time there's a moment of peace, something else happens, a new twist into the plot, that kept the story going and interesting. After all the built up, the solution to all the action and suspense was a little flat, if not predictable. Overall a fascinating, enjoyable, and at times a thrilling story. You really can't miss the target, when mixing medical drama with a cowboy and romantic suspense together! ~ Four Spoons
One kiss can change everything!
Eva Monroe is always cool under pressure. As a firefighter, it’s part of the job. But after kissing Jake Beauchamp in a moment of confusion, she’s struggling to keep it together. Jake’s her best friend and co-worker — two very good reasons why crossing this line is a bad idea. Yet something between them must’ve changed because one kiss isn’t nearly enough — for either of them. But Jake is haunted by a past tragedy and isn’t the commitment type. With more than just Eva’s heart on the line, she needs to end things now before this fire burns out of control.
This story was an emotional roller coaster, not just for me, but also for the characters.
Eva and Jake have been friends for three years, not just friends, best friends, and the also work together at the fire department. Eva has been in love with Jake ever since they met, but hiding her feelings. Little does she know, Jake has been attracted to Eva from the first moment as well, but as co-workers, not taking that step. But these wild feelings for each other is not the only thing going on in their lives. Jake is ridden with guilt, of an accident that happen ten years ago. An accident that left his best friend Cliff paralyzed, and killed another friend. Jake is restless, not happy with his life, and not only wanting a change, needed it as well. Eva's family life has never been easy, and now she unexpectedly finds herself as a single parent to her six year old half-brother. And it is so overwhelming, hard, and difficult, all Eva wants to do is sleep through one night. There were lots of things I enjoyed about this story. The romance between Jake and Eva is not easy, or straightforward. Eva is afraid to trust the feelings, trust that Jake's feelings are true. Jake lets other people manipulate his feelings about himself, doubting if he is good enough for Eva. I wanted to shake both of them at times during the story. Cliff, I understand he has had it rough, but some of his behavior was unacceptable. He did redeem himself a little towards the end, but he was not my favorite person. But I loved Jake's family, they were loud, chaotic, fun, and opinionated, and just a lovely bunch to be around. This is more than just a touching love story. It was a lesson on how we shouldn't let others define us as a person, but find our own light and fire within ourselves. The story was realistic, lifelike, and easy to relate to. Life can be so tough at times, but still, love wins. It really does. ~ Five Spoons
FORGETTING THE PAST CAN BE DEADLY...
When Gabriella Fielding is kidnapped, she's terrified...until she's rescued by SWAT cop Shane Hawkins. Running for cover, Shane vows to protect the beautiful doctor who once saved his life. But can he really believe her claims that she has no knowledge about why her captors set their sights on her? Or is she hiding a dangerous secret? Somehow Shane has to help Gabby unlock her buried memories--before their mutual attraction breaks down the barriers around his heart. And before a desperate enemy determined to keep the past hidden strikes again and makes sure Gabby never remembers.
The story started with a bang, intense action right from the beginning, and after that the book was hard to put down, until the end.
There are several twists in the suspense part of the story, twist that kept the tension high, and the danger present and accounted for. Interesting theories, with little evidence, keeps the SWAT team's investigation focus on Gabby's past. The pressure is on the SWAT team, since the culprits don't seem to have much respect for human life, as dead bodies keep showing up. Shane is doing everything he can to keep Gabby well and alive. He has had feelings for her ever since they first met, and she saved his life. But can he trust the attraction between them, or is it only gratitude for keeping her safe? I liked how the romance was built between Shane and Gabby, the openness, honesty, and sharing his faith was refreshing. The fact that they talked about their feelings openly, made it real, and easy to relate to. I liked every aspect of the story, the events are timed well, the suspense and action are perilous, the romance believable and earnest, the faith they had in God, and how it was demonstrated, was reassuring and comforting ~ Five Spoons
Truly Sweet
Sweet, Texas #5 By: Candis Terry Releasing July 28th, 2015 Avon
Candis Terry returns to Sweet, Texas for the last time when former Marine Jake Wilder discovers how truly sweet love can be.
When the one you’ve always wanted At sixteen, Annabelle Morgan hoped her crush on Jake Wilder was just a passing phase. Now she’s twenty-nine and nothing has changed except Jake. The once-carefree marine has come home with a giant chip on his shoulder. He insists a single mom like Annie deserves more than he can offer. Yet no matter how gruff his gorgeous exterior may be, Jake s toe-curling kisses convince her that this attraction is definitely mutual. Becomes the one who wants you back Butting heads with feisty Annie was always a thrill. Add other body parts to the mix, and Jake is in serious trouble. He can’t be a forever-and-family guy and Annie s not a friends-with-benefits kind of woman. But love has a way of changing the best-laid plans, and surrender has never been so tempting. The outcome is truly sweet.
Jake comes home from the war with nightmares, pain, regrets. He lost some of his men, his best friend, got wounded himself, but the survivor's guilt is eating him up, and will not allow himself to be happy again.
Annie has always loved Jake, more than anything or anybody. But Jake has never seen her as a girl, until now. But Annie is not a bootie-call type of a girl, not now, not ever. And that is all Jake has to offer. Jake and Allie together are so perfect, they are sweet and spice, mixed in a perfect harmony. The author has created so many swoon worthy scenes in the story, written in such a humorous way, that you can't help but smile through the tale. Until you are in tears... Cause the guilt Jake is carrying with him, he seems to be stuck. With Annie's help and encouragement, he takes on a pilgrimage, and when the moment of healing, and forgiveness comes, it is so powerful, I admit, I was in tears. Whether there's banter and goodhearted trouble between the brothers, an argument between Jake and Allie, or advice given by mother, the story is filled with warmth, love, and care of a family. The story completely enthralled me, I was wrapped in it like in a big pink cloud. Even when there was trouble and heartache, you knew, that the family was there to support you, protect you, and love you until you are whole again. So many emotions went through me while reading this story, it certainly will not leave you cold. This might be one of the most warmhearted, romantic stories I have read in a long time, and even though it is the last book in the series, it is easy to be read as a stand-alone novel. ~ Five Spoons

A FRESH START
Widow Kate Sullivan moved to Cupid's Bow, Texas, to get her teenage son on the right path. But their new life in the small town gets off to a rocky start when her son is caught shoplifting by the sheriff. Kate is immediately attracted to Cole Trent, but she's not ready to fall in love again, and certainly not with another cop. Cole should have known Cupid's matchmakers would scramble to fix him up with a smart, beautiful woman like Kate. The single dad has managed to evade their efforts until now, so he and Kate come up with a plan to keep the matchmakers at bay. Pretending to be a couple was a good idea, until Cole realizes his feelings are anything but pretend. Can he convince Kate to give their romance a real chance?
There's been a lot of kids in the romance novels lately, and yes, I like that, seeing a big alpha man getting all soft and cuddly with a little kid is kinda hot. But this is the first time I have seen, that part of the story is told from the kid's point of view. Luke, Kate's son, gives a different, refreshing angle to the story.
Cause he is in trouble. His police officer dad died two years ago, and ever since, he has been trying to act tough, getting tired of people feeling sorry for him, pitying him. So his mom, Kate, moved them out of the city, into a small town in Texas. And before they barely arrive in town, he is in trouble again, right in front of the town sheriff. I enjoyed the story, Cole's twin daughters are cute and entertaining. Luke means well, but keeps making bad choices. But he truly does care, and the steps he takes in maturing during the story are heartfelt. Kate has her own demons to battle, with a fear of losing someone she loves, again in a violent matter, if she dared to date another police officer. The meddling of the small town folks, the kids birthday party, the watermelon festival all give this tale more spice, and some humorous moments. Cole and Kate have chemistry, the 'fake' relationship doesn't hold much of a candle, when both of them are so obviously attracted to each other. A sweet and lovely feel-good story, a joy to read ~ Four Spoons and a teaspoon on the side
Alone at sea. On the run from a killer . . .
It’s been a year since Saria Sands entered The Program, her last chance to stay one step ahead of a relentless killer. When Bodyguard and Weapons expert Ben Hammers sends her on a private yacht to the South Pacific, Saria agrees. But confined in close quarters together on the yacht, Saria can’t help desiring more with her mysterious protector. Ben Hammers will do anything to protect Saria. She’s more than just a job. Protecting the innocent is Ben’s only way to right a wrong he’s kept hidden his whole life, a secret that has kept him from forming a connection with any woman, let alone the one he wants more than anything. Ben knows he can’t let his guard down. But the more time he spends with Saria, the further he finds himself slipping...
This is a book two in a series, and started off right where the first one ended, so it took me a minute to get into the story.
It is an interesting set up, Ben and Saria have been basically living together for the past year, as Ben has been protecting her. For the past couple months, Saria's fears have been so intense, they have even slept in the same bed. Now the danger is supposed to be over, and Saria is missing Ben, who arrives to the yacht, for Saria's sister's upcoming wedding. Saria and Ben have a rather codependent relationship, they obviously have deeper feelings for each other. But a relationship is not an option for Ben, as he feels he has to pay for his father's sins. Saria is relentless, she wants Ben, and will do anything to get him. There are several detailed love scenes in the story, as Ben and Saria work out their relationship. The action and suspense are on the back burner in the story, and even when the danger comes back to their doorsteps, the situation is solved quickly in the story. I had a bit hard time connecting with the characters. Some of the situations seemed off, not quite believable, and the dialog was awkward at times. The natural flow in the story wasn't constant. But it was an easy and fast read, with lots of sexy times, and passionate, protective alpha males, guarding their women. ~ Three Spoons
It’s a steamy reunion between a single mum and the billionaire who got away!
Former ski champion Conor Kavanagh enjoys a challenge. And he’s encountered no challenge more arousing than Ellie Porter. Once, she broke his heart. Now that she’s back in town? He can’t seem to stay away… But Ellie has changed. Widowed, with a baby, she has responsibilities — and secrets — weighing her down. Still, his desire for her is undeniable. Surely, he can have her without giving up his heart — or his daredevil ways? He’s willing to risk it all to find out…
This second chance story took me by surprise. There's more to it, than than I expected.
Connor is enthralled with the idea of his childhood friends being back in town, even though Ellie once broke his heart. But things are not as expected. Life has been rough for the twins, Ellie had lost her husband, is a single mother, and nearly lost her twin Kirby, as well. Kirby's left leg is partly amputated, and now their grandfather has fallen ill, needing help. So much agony, sorrow, and pain in the twins' life for the past 18 months. Connor is doing what he can to help, and as it seems to help Kirby, to be around Connor again, Ellie seems to be falling in pieces. Connor is an honorable, gentle, loving man. His own disappointments in life have guided to be in the place in life where he is, in a solid place, where he is content. Ellie understandably has it tough, so much drama in her life in the past couple years. She goes boldly after what she wants, and that is intimacy with Connor, and help with her brother. I wasn't sure if I should have rooted for her resolute to go after Conner, again and again. At times her behavior seemed audacious, but maybe it was just a misplaced call for help. She also reacts rather strongly with things happening, she seems to be a bit of a drama queen. But there is a reason for her emotional behavior, if she could only open up about it, and share her pain. Like said, there's much more to the story than I expected. I enjoyed it, it had some original twists in the story. It also had lots of angst and pain, bereavement and sorrow. All the dark emotions nearly over powered the joy of the baby, the treasure of reunited childhood friends, and the passion, wonder and glee of the new relationship between Connor and Ellie ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
Right Wrong Guy
Brightwater #2 By: Lia Riley Releasing August 4, 2015 Avon Impulse
The fun and flirty second installment in Lia Riley’s fantastic Brightwater series.
Sometimes two wrongs can make a right... Bad boy wrangler, Archer Kane, lives fast and loose. Words like responsibility and commitment send him running in the opposite direction. Until a wild Vegas weekend puts him on a collision course with Eden Bankcroft-Kew, a New York heiress running away from her blackmailing fiancé…the morning of her wedding. Eden has never understood the big attraction to cowboys. Give her a guy in a tailored suit any day of the week. But now all she can think about is Mr. Rugged Handsome, six-feet of sinfully sexy country charm with a pair of green eyes that keeps her tossing and turning all night long. Archer might be the wrong guy for a woman like her, but she's not right in thinking he'll walk away without fighting for her heart. And maybe, just maybe, two wrongs can make a right.
A well written romance story, perfectly mixing the steamy passion between the characters, with the tender adoration they feel for each other. Written with humor, adding a bit danger and family drama, the author delivers an entertaining and enticing tale.
In the small town, where everyone knows each other, where family values are appreciated, and possibilities are endless, Eden wants to start a new chapter in her life. After the last minute rescue from a miserable future in Vegas, by the hot cowboy Archer, Eden feels it was a destiny, that Archer comes from the same small town where her cousin recently located. Archer is tired of the old playboy ways, he is ready for a change, and when his grandmother requests his presence at the family farm, as the new manager, he is ready and willing to take the step. The romance is well built and timed, I liked how Archer gave Eden time and space to get her footing in the new town, to find her place. The courting of Eden doesn't go quite like Archer planned, thanks to the rumors of his wild past, and the ex who is blackmailing Eden. Still the feelings they have for each other are clear, and getting deeper. Archer's devotion to Eden is so sweet, the way he stands up to her in front of his family, the way he takes her breath away, with the things he says to her. It is like for the first time Eden truly sees herself through Archer's eyes, and starts to bloom. Witty, enjoyable, cheerful small town tale, that left me smiling ~ Four Spoons
Lia Riley writes offbeat New Adult and Contemporary Adult romance. After studying at the University of Montana-Missoula, she scoured the world armed only with a backpack, overconfidence and a terrible sense of direction. She counts shooting vodka with a Ukranian mechanic in Antarctica, sipping yerba mate with gauchos in Chile and swilling XXXX with stationhands in Outback Australia among her accomplishments.
A British literature fanatic at heart, Lia considers Mr. Darcy and Edward Rochester as her fictional boyfriends. Her very patient husband doesn't mind. Much. When not torturing heroes (because c'mon, who doesn't love a good tortured hero?), Lia herds unruly chickens, camps, beach combs, daydreams about future books, wades through a mile-high TBR pile and schemes yet another trip. Right now, Icelandic hot springs and Scottish castles sound mighty fine. Author Links: Website | Facebook | Twitter | GoodReads |
