A high-profile trial turns lethal...
Presiding over the trial of a powerful drug cartel member, Judge Aubrey Madison finds her life threatened, and Texas Ranger Sean McNair isn't taking any chances. Protecting the widow and her twins comes naturally to Sean - maybe too naturally for a guy who's convinced he shouldn't have a family. But he can't help wishing for a future with Aubrey...if he can keep her alive.
With high tension mafia court case, several intense and personal cold murder cases, and two adorable twins this tale puzzled, entertained, and delighted.
The suspense in the story escalated as the court case moved forward and the mafia cleaners did their best to hold the proceedings at bay. The last quarter of the book was filled with surprising twists and deadly action. I liked how logical and realistic the investigation, and the clues, were to me as they unraveled the past and present cases at the same time. The fear was tangible, the threat concrete, several times the protagonists were in a situation where their lives, and their loved ones, were in serious, potentially deadly danger. Judge Aubrey Madison and Texas Ranger Sean McNair knew each other from before, from Aubrey's husband's murder investigation sometime before. [This time frame kept fading in my mind - was it right at the twins birth, or was it two years ago? Was it the reason Aubrey wanted to be a judge, went back to work when the kids were just months old or were she already working as one when her husband was murdered? Was it my mind wondering or were there timeline confusion, I never figured that out, but none of those points were not big enough issues for me not to enjoy the story.] I liked how even though the feelings between Aubrey and Sean were developing rather fast, there was a feeling like they took their time to get to know each other, and were careful with their developing emotions. Those emotions felt genuine and true, from the apprehension to jump into the relationship, to the deep feel taking root. The inspirational message of trusting God in good times and the bad times, to lean on his understanding, guidance, and protectiveness was well twined into the tale so that it was part of the development of the characters while inspiring the readers. Love Inspired stories are the few ones out there that can be heartening, entertaining, potent, and intense all at the same time - Lone Star Standoff definitely was all of that ~ Four Spoons

Remington’s most notoriously single,
notoriously sexy surgeon is about to fall for the one woman he can’t have… Did I mention that she's A) his best friend B) immune to his panty-melting charm, and C) sleeping on his couch for the next six weeks? But Jonah’s not made for commitment, and a good man is the one thing Natalie deserves. Not someone who can only offer up a couple of sizzling hot, no-strings-attached nights of pure pleasure. Unless that’s what she wants. Because Jonah wants her. And with each moment they spend working together--living together--the harder it is to resist temptation. And even harder to resist the fall that might break them both…

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Joanna Wylde comes a new story in her Reapers MC series…
Peaches Taylor spent the last seven years slinging drinks and dodging drunks at the Starkwood Saloon. Some might call it a dead end job, but to her it was an investment—another six months, and she’d have enough money to buy the place. Life would've been perfect if Eli hadn’t come home. Eli King is ready to settle down. He stood by his brothers when they needed him, paying the price for their freedom with his own. Now it’s time to claim his reward—the Starkwood Saloon. He’s got the cash to buy the bar, the skills to run it, and just one person standing between him and his dream: Peaches Taylor. She’s been driving him crazy since they were kids, and not in the good way. When she was six, she shoved a spider down his pants. When he was ten, he locked her in a closet overnight. Then she hot-wired his car at seventeen, and things got ugly… They’re adults now, and the Starkwood isn’t a toy to fight over—it’s the hill they’ll die on. No prisoners. No compromises. No mercy. Peaches Taylor and Eli King are going to war. **Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.** “Eli?” she asked, sounding confused. “Why are we talking about Eli?” “He’s been watching me.” “Um, I think he’s just drinking a beer,”Megan said. “Maybe checking out your boobs a little, but that’s nothing new.” Hmm… It couldn’t possibly be that simple, but it did give me an idea. Maybe it was time to create a diversion. I shifted my shoulders, expanding my chest. Disappointingly, his eyes stayed on mine. “Someday I’m gonna own this bar, and firing his ass is the first thing I’ll do.” Megan giggled. “That sounded sort of super-villain-ish. Do you have a lair? I wish I had a lair…” I blinked, caught off guard. I hadn’t realized that I’d said the words out loud. Eli smirked at me, gloating because he’d just won our little pissing contest. Dammit! “I can’t believe I wrote to him in prison,” I told her, turning my back on the bikers. “Never should’ve been nice to him. He probably thinks that, deep down inside, we’re friends or something. We’re never going to be friends.” “Didn’t he give you a ride home after work last night?” she asked, her voice light. “Gus made him,” I snapped. “And did Gus make him hug you the other day?” “He caught me and gave me a noogie. And it hurt, too. It’s not a hug if it leaves bruises.” “He left bruises?”Megan asked, startled. Shit. I might be able to justify a rumor about him not being able to get it up, but telling her that he’d hurt me for real…yeah, that probably crossed a line. “No,” I admitted. “That was an exaggeration. But he’s still pure evil, so don’t fall for his shit. Or sleep with him. Every time a waitress sleeps with him, she ends up quitting without notice. Then I have to cover their shifts.” Megan nodded, looking a little uncomfortable. “Okay, then… Um, I think I’ll go check the bathrooms. Make sure there’s no ugly surprises before things start getting busy.” “Great idea,” I told her, and she scuttled off. Then I reached for a washcloth because I had lemon juice to clean up. Then I’d have to go back over there and check on them. See if they wanted more… Eli would, I could already tell. Not because he was big on drinking, though. He just wouldn’t be able to resist an opportunity to order me around.

Never a Bride by Megan Frampton
Series The Duke's Daughters Genre Adult Historical Romance Publisher Avon Books Publication Date April 30, 2019
She’s a deliciously scandalous woman who is no man’s bride…
He’s a black sheep, forced to return home. Together, they enter a make-believe betrothal that shocks London society… After twelve years in Her Majesty’s Navy, Griffith Davies must leave his sea-going life of outrageous freedom behind, forced to rejoin London society as the heir to the Duke of Northam. But though he is now shackled to the land, he has no desire to wed some innocently dull young thing. Who best to shield him from the matchmakers than a woman as notorious as he? Lady Della Howlett’s reputation was tattered years ago, so entering into a false engagement with Griffith is hardly going to make matters worse. What’s one more shock to the ton to set their tongues wagging? And this pact certainly has its pleasures; the passion Griffith commands in her goes well beyond their agreement. Could her feelings might be more honorable than she’d first imagined? Soon, Griffith and Della are arousing more than scandal, they’re courting heartbreak. And more than their reputations could still be at risk. “And who are you?” she asked, turning her gaze to Griffith. Unlike the man, she didn’t seem intimidated at all by his size. That was a surprise; most people at least blinked twice when they saw him. Plus, he had just rescued her from an unpleasant situation. The very least he could expect would be some gratitude. None appeared to be forthcoming. She was as beautiful as he’d suspected; her dark hair was swept up underneath her hat, a few enticing strands falling down around her face. Her eyes were dark also, with delicate eyebrows that were raised in question. Her nose was perfect, and her mouth—her lips were full and red, and she had a mole to the right of her mouth that seemed—to Griffith, at least—a visual marker for where his own mouth should start kissing her. “I am your stalwart savior,” he said. He gestured toward the table. “Would you care to sit down and have a cup of this pub’s finest ale? Which, admittedly, isn’t very good. But I promise, the company is superb,” he added with a rakish grin. She glanced toward the table, and Clark, and looked back, a wry expression on her face. “I’m not certain I should, if that is what happens after having some ale. Or is it that you are such a dull conversationalist that he’s fallen asleep rather than talk to you?” Her expression was teasing, and he admired how full of aplomb she was, given that she was clearly completely out of her element here. And yet was still holding her own. “I am an excellent conversationalist. When I am not rescuing damsels in distress—” he began. “I was not in distress,” she interrupted. “Merely impeded by a ruffian in pursuit of my goal. Not the first time that has happened,” she added in a rueful tone. He wanted to know more about that, but he suspected she wasn’t the type of lady to reveal her secrets all at once. “I was doing just fine without you,” she continued, crossing her arms over her chest. In fact, he suspected she would reveal none of her secrets. Which only piqued his curiosity more. by Rebecca Henry Genre: Chick-Lit Comedy Published February 28, 2019
Deb hasn’t flown in a plane for over twenty years. In 1989, at the age of twenty-two, Deb was enrolled in
Embry Riddle aeronautical school, learning to fly commercial planes, but somewhere between dating her yuppie fiancé and planning their wedding in Chicago, Deb developed both agoraphobia, a fear of open spaces and claustrophobia, fear of closed spaces. I blame the yuppie. On their way from Syracuse NY to Chicago, the yuppie placed so much pressure on Deb with wedding arrangements and meeting the wealthy stuck-up family that Deb’s chest began to tighten. The cabin crew were preparing for their takeoff announcements as Deb began to feel trapped. The Boeing 737 was transforming into a metal tin can with wings. Deb took Adam’s hand, seeking comfort. He sat motionless in his neatly pressed J Crew shirt and ironed jeans. His face was freshly shaven, and he smelled of sex and desire. Deb sighed loudly as her seatbelt began to dig into her skinny lap. She tried loosening the strap, but her hands trembled with anxiety. She placed a manicured finger to her neck; her throat was beginning to tighten. Adam the yuppie was staring at Deb as she fidgeted with the belt. “What are you doing?” he said, annoyed. “Just leave it alone.” Deb began to take deep breaths, exhaling as she fanned herself with her hands. “Deb, stop that. People are looking at you,” Adam growled. He hated scenes and cared highly what strangers thought of him. Deb looked at the man she was going to marry and said, “Nope! Not flying today!” Adam became agitated, annoyed by Deb’s sudden display of theatrics. “Sit down and calm down, Deb!” He ran a hand through his black hair. “Jesus, you fly planes for Christ’s sakes, don’t give me this shit that you’re suddenly afraid to fly.” He grabbed Deb by the arm as she tried to stand up from her seat. “Look Adam, I don’t know what’s going on...I just know I need to get off,” Deb said in the most forced pleasant tone she could muster. Deb raised her hand to the flight attendant who was walking down the aisle. “Hi there, sweetie! Excuse me!” Deb called, as she stood up, releasing her grasp from Adam’s controlling hand. Her three carat diamond ring flashed the flight attendant in the eye. “Hi, sweetie. I’m so sorry to do this now, right before takeoff but...I got to get off.” Deb reached for the overhead compartment, grabbing her coach bag, her butt accidentally hitting the man next to her. “Oh, so sorry, sweetie,” she said to the passenger. “Not much room on this thing.” Deb patted her clammy chest, which was beginning to break out in a cold sweat. “God, can you feel it, it’s getting hot in here. Oh boy...it’s time for me to go.” The flight attendant looked down at Adam who was now in a full rage. “Deb, will you stop this nonsense and sit back down.” His voice was stern, a father directing a child. “Nope, don’t think I will. But I’ll meet you outside, okay babe!” Deb pleasantly pushed past the flight attendant, excusing herself as she made her way to the exit. She was wearing her first pair of Gucci stilettos and was making sure to tiptoe gracefully as she raced down the speckled blue carpet. The flight attendant quickly scurried in front of Deb as she approached the exit door. “Ma’am, please take your seat. You are not supposed to be out of your seat before takeoff.” Deb eyed the flight attendant’s name tag. “Donna, I need you to listen very carefully to me, okay sweetie. I have to get off this plane.” Deb was pushing down the edges of her miniskirt. She could feel the cabin closing in, the plane was shrinking. Donna stretched out her arms, blocking Deb. “Ma’am, you can’t get off this plane. You must return to your seat and I will come around to speak with you momentarily.” Deb glanced at Donna’s bad dye job; black roots were showing through her bleached hair. Donna’s face had a perfect ring along her jawline where the foundation stopped. Deb wanted to give her a quick crash course in fundamental foundation rules on applying makeup, but Donna’s face began to swirl as Deb’s nausea began to rise. Deb placed a hand on her forehead, trying to steady the swaying. “Donna, I can’t go back to my seat, I can’t stay on this plane.” Donna raised an eyebrow at Deb. “What I need to do, Donna, is get off. So, if you would be a doll and just scoot over so I can fit through the aisle and make my way to the door, I would appreciate it.” Donna glanced at the other flight attendant standing behind Deb. “Ma’am, the engines have started.” Donna pointed in the air. “Can’t you hear? I cannot let you off the plane.” Deb began to panic. A burning sensation was rising up from her stomach, scorching her arms, making its way to her head. She felt hot all over. The cabin was closing in, crunching her. “Donna, just go talk to the pilot, explain to him I need to get off. He’ll understand and open the doors so I can leave.” Donna braced her arms against Deb’s body. “Ma’am, I will not tell you again. You need to go back to your seat, and someone will be with you shortly to talk you through this.” Deb pressed her face against the window. She could see the wheels on the plane moving. An intense fear struck Deb, she realized she had to get off that second. “Talk to me!” Deb’s voice was frantic, growing louder with each syllable. “What the hell is talking going to do for me? I’M IN FEAR! I HAVE FEAR! I need to get off and either you will remove yourself from my path or go get the pilot!” “The pilot? You want me to go speak to the pilot?” That’s when Donna realized Deb had lost her rabbit ass mind.

Enemies make the best lovers.
It was a one night stand with her worst enemy. Ben Wilde was cocky, charming, and sexy as the best sin. He was also Courtney McKenna’s weakness. Every single inch of his muscled perfection was trouble and temptation. They’d sparred in the courtroom more times than she could count, and the tension between them had always been red-hot. One night should have been all she needed to get the guy out of her head and her dreams. Only…it wasn’t. Because before Ben, life was easy. Life after Ben? Hot. Dark. And dangerous. Courtney tries to fight her scorching desire for Ben even as they plan to face-off in court once again. Even as they fight for power. But once you cross some lines, there is no going back. And Ben doesn’t plan to let her go anywhere. He’s had a taste, but Ben wants a whole lot more. Ben Wilde has never believed that opposites attract, but there is something about button-downed, prim and proper Courtney that has always driven him wild. And when he gets her in his bed, the attraction he feels for her changes into a sensual obsession. Sure, they can be enemies in the courtroom, but in the bedroom, they are meant to be something else entirely. Be careful what you want… Someone out there doesn’t want Ben to have Courtney. Someone who will do anything to stop their attraction. But that predator in the dark is messing with the wrong man. When it comes to Courtney’s safety, Ben will break every rule in the book. He will stop pretending to be nice and show the world just how wicked and dangerous he can truly be. Because Courtney is his, and Ben will play dirty, he’ll play rough, and he will destroy anyone who threatens her.
I have a serious obsession with this series, and I am not ashamed to admit it. This is the perfect stay up late at night binge reading until the perfectly swoon-worthy ending that leaves a big smile on your face afterward cause it is just so good in all the possible ways series...
The books in the series are stand-alone stories, that gets wrapped up within the covers yet the characters do walkthroughs in the other books, and you get to know them even better or just visit with them for a minute. Ben has been in the stories since the book one, so his cocky, sure-of-himself ways and attitude was well known before I immersed myself into the book. The beauty of the writing is that while Ben is at times over the top alpha - with his protective mind and overly defensive attitude towards his loved ones - he never crosses the line from alpha to ass jerk, he has a heart of gold, he truly cares, and he is an honest, loving, affectionate, and lovable guy. I loved him in Protecting Piper, and that feeling was just validated in Before Ben. And Courtney McKenna is the one - and the only - woman that can match Ben, and bring him to his knees. One of my favorite things about this series is the strong, successful, capable, female leads and secondary characters that are presented in the stories. I admire them, I love them, I cheer for the success they accomplish, and I want just all the best for them because they have worked hard to get where they are and they deserve all the happiness in the world. The suspense is dark, it is deadly, it is dangerous, twisted, and personal. The case was so well presented that it managed to surprise me with some turns of events. That dark, chilling danger is well balanced with quick, smart banter, humor in unexpected moments that had me cackling, and the ardent romance that burned so hot, so fierce, and so earnest, it floored me. ~ Five Spoons
Anything But a Duke by Christy Carlyle
Series The Duke's Den (Each story is a standalone.) Genre Adult Historical Romance Publisher Avon Books Publication Date April 30, 2019
Self-made man Aidan Iverson has seen more closed doors in his thirty years than he’s ever cared to count. As a member of the elite Duke’s Den, he has all the money he could possibly need but the one thing he can’t purchase is true power. If roguish Aidan can’t buy his way into society’s hallowed halls, he’ll resort to a more extreme measure: marriage.
Brought up to be a proper lady, the only thing Diana Ashby desires is to be left alone to the creation of her own devices. But when her dreams are crushed, she must find another way to secure the future of her invention. Knowing his desire to enter her world, Diana strikes a deal to arrange Aidan’s marriage to the perfect lady—as long as that lady isn’t her. She doesn’t need any distractions from her work, particularly of the sinfully handsome variety. As Diana and Aidan set out to find him an aristocratic match, neither are prepared for the passion that ignites between them or the love they can’t ignore. In the Duke’s Den, can happiness ever be a winning prospect? He was an ambitious young man. Far more so than her brother. While Dominick had been happy to return from university with nothing but memories of frivolity and mischief, Lord Egerton had taken top marks in mathematics and philosophy and won trophies in several athletic endeavors. Di knew whatever competition he entered, Lord Egerton strove to win. He stared at her, his mouth curved in a warm smile. The expression struck her as odd. Friendliness, she expected. But there was something more in his grin. “You’ve always been kind, Diana.” The way he said her name, the care he took with each syllable, filled her with unease. “I do try to be kind.” He stepped closer, and one hand hovered between them as if he was considering whether to reach for her. “You’re also quite the prettiest girl I have ever known.” Diana took a step back. Then another. Fear of what was to come set her heart fluttering like a bird that’s just noticed the bars of its cage. “Samuel,” she started, desperate to forestall what he intended to say or do. But it was too late. In one swift move, he lowered himself onto one knee and reached for her hand. Diana froze, her muscles tightening and her tongue thickening. His touch felt heavy and yet oddly distant, as if her skin had gone numb. “Marry me, Miss Ashby.” Oh no. Panic sped her pulse. A single insistent hammer pounded behind her eyes. She knew what she wished to say. There was no question of her answer, but she couldn’t get the words out. “May I take your silence as an acknowledgment of what I’ve long known?” “I . . .” she forced out on a gasp. He squeezed her fingers and inched closer, as if fearful of missing a single word. “I regret . . .” The words were almost impossible to get out. Not because they weren’t true, but because panic always caused her to freeze. But the two words sufficed. Egerton began to crumble, the eagerness in his pale gaze turning to disappointment and then anger. “I cannot marry you.” She shook her head to make sure he could not mistake her meaning. She had no wish to cause him embarrassment or misery, but she had no desire to marry him. Or anyone. Not yet. “My inventions—” Tour Wide GiveawayTo celebrate the release of ANYTHING BUT A DUKE by Christy Carlyle, we’re giving away one paperback set of A Duke Changes Everything and Anything But a Duke! He’s determined to make Leslie his lady for life, and as their undeniable chemistry begins to sizzle, Leslie is powerless to resist him. Will the love Leslie has for Michael ever be enough to truly win his heart? Reader Alert! Leslie James is at her wits’ end when it comes to love. The minute she decides to throw in the towel, gorgeous and charming Michael Allgood comes along. Mesmerized by this fine specimen of a man, and against her better judgement, Leslie decides to give him a chance—but she regrets that decision when his greedy ex-wife Mia suddenly shows up on his doorstep. Can Michael prove to Leslie that his intentions are good and he wants a love with her that’ll last forever? To My Readers: I’ve been a lover of romance for as long as I can remember. WHEN IT’S ALL SAID & DONE is fun, contemporary romantic comedy that’s very close to my heart. As the novel came to fruition, I found myself wanting to be friends with the smart, savvy, beautiful women in the book and date the handsome, strong, sexy, men! My goal was to tell an entertaining story that embodies matters of the heart and would leave readers thinking about these colorful characters long after the final chapter. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Once Michael finished cooking breakfast, he and Leslie headed into the living room to watch college basketball. The twosome chatted about a little bit of everything as they ate. And then, just when they sat their plates down on the coffee table, Michael turned to Leslie.
“I love you,” he said softly. She stared blankly at him, thinking she must’ve misheard him. “You…what?” “I love you.” Leslie’s chest began to tingle, and her eyes teared up a bit. The sweet, sincere look on Michael’s face was beyond words. She was positive that she’d never felt this way about anyone before in her life. “I love you, too.” Michael wrapped his arms around her. He leaned in, and she closed her eyes, waiting to feel the soft, warm touch of his lips. And then, just when the tip of his nose gently brushed against hers, she heard the sound of keys rattling outside of the door. Michael stopped abruptly. “Did you hear that?” “I did. It sounds like somebody’s coming in.” Michael jumped up and walked over to the door. Before he could turn the knob, it flew open, and Tyler came running inside. “Daddy! Daddy!” he yelled. “Hey, what’s up little man!” Michael said, picking him up. Leslie stood up, smiling and waving at Tyler. Then she walked around the couch and waited nervously for Michael’s mother to walk in. She hadn’t expected to meet his mom this soon, especially under these circumstances. “Hello Michael,” a sexy-sounding female voice said. It sounded nothing like his mother. Leslie watched as a beautiful woman carrying a designer suitcase appeared in the doorway. It was, in fact, not Michael’s mother. It was his ex-wife, Mia. Leslie’s entire body went numb. She eyed Mia, noticing how tall and curvaceously thin she was. Her jet black wavy hair cascaded down her back. Her deep bronze complexion was flawless. Her hazel eyes were dazzling. And she acted as though Leslie was invisible considering she had yet to acknowledge her. The atmosphere suddenly became tense and awkward. Leslie didn’t know what to do, so she looked over at Michael. He seemed to be just as shocked to see Mia as she was. When Mia reached out and tried to embrace him, he took a step back. “What are you doing here?” he asked. “Your mother called and told me the wonderful news about your sports casting job! Instead of calling to congratulate you, I decided to come home and give you my well-wishes in person!” “Home?” Michael asked cynically. “Yes,” Mia replied confidently. “Home.” Leslie’s eyes widened. She could not believe what she was seeing or hearing. She struggled to keep her cool. Waited to be noticed. To be spoken to. Introduced. Something. But since that didn’t seem like it was going to happen, she cleared her throat, forcing Mia to acknowledge her presence. “Oh. Hello. I didn’t see you standing there.” Yeah right. “Hello, I’m—” Leslie began. But before she could continue, Mia interrupted her and turned back to Michael. “I didn’t realize you had company. Your mother told me you were here alone.” Michael looked at her in disbelief. “How did you get the keys?” “Your mother gave them to me,” Mia smiled. “I stopped by there first to see her and pick up Tyler, and told her not to mention that I was coming home so I could surprise you.” “I’m sorry,” Leslie interrupted, feeling as though a bomb might go off inside of her. “As Michael said, I’m Leslie.” “Hello. I’m Mia. Tyler’s mother.” The smirk on Mia’s face said it all. She obviously felt as though she had the upper hand here. Leslie looked down and saw a wedding ring set sitting boldly on Mia’s finger. She hoped that it was from a new husband and wasn’t the set that Michael had given her. “Come on mommy! Come see my room!” Tyler insisted, clutching Mia’s leg. “Okay, here I come!” Mia then turned to Michael. “Your daddy has some things to take care of out here anyway.” Before following Tyler to his room, Mia turned to Leslie with a beauty pageant smile on her face and waved. “Nice meeting you…Lindsay was it? Take care,” she said dismissively before walking off in her fancy designer stilettos. Leslie didn’t bother to respond. She was too irritated to even open her mouth. Instead she turned to Michael, struggling to maintain her composure as she stared at him silently and waited for him to handle the situation. “Sweetheart,” he began, holding his hands up, “I swear I didn’t know she was coming here.” “Oh, I get that. I’m just wondering why you haven’t asked her to leave.” “Well, Tyler’s here…so…” “Sooo...you’re not going to ask her to leave?” “Well…I just don’t want to make a scene in front of our son.” Leslie’s heart plummeted to the pit of her stomach. “Michael, you do know what’s going on here, don’t you? How ironic that the minute you don’t get an NBA contract, she leaves. Then the minute you get a sports casting job on a major network, she reappears.” “I know…But Mia is Tyler’s mother, and he’s so happy to see her. I don’t feel comfortable asking her to leave right now. It would break his heart.” Leslie felt a lump forming in her throat. She looked into Michael’s eyes, wondering what all this meant for the two of them. She was afraid that if he let Mia stay, then somehow that could drastically change things between the two of them. “So you’re going to let her stay?” Leslie asked quietly. “I don’t have a choice. Please understand that, Leslie, Please…” Loud laughter between Mia and Tyler came booming from his bedroom. Leslie felt completely defeated. She got it now. Mia was back. So it was time for her to leave. “Why’d I do this?” she asked herself out loud. “Why? I knew better…” “Leslie, please don’t say that,” Michael insisted.

A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole
Series Reluctant Royals Genre Adult Contemporary Romance Publisher Avon Impulse Publication Date April 30, 2019
The Reluctant Royals series returns with a good girl searching for the life that’s not too big, and not too small, and the bad boy prince who might be just right for her…
Nya Jerami fled Thesolo for the glitz and glamour of NYC but discovered that her Prince Charming only exists in her virtual dating games. When Nya returns home for a royal wedding, she accidentally finds herself up close and personal—in bed—with the real-life celebrity prince who she loves to hate. For Johan von Braustein, the red-headed step-prince of Liechtienbourg, acting as paparazzi bait is a ruse that protects his brother—the heir to the throne—and his own heart. When a royal referendum threatens his brother’s future, a fake engagement is the perfect way to keep the cameras on him. Nya and Johan both have good reasons to avoid love, but as desires are laid bare behind palace doors, they must decide if their fake romance will lead to a happily-ever-after. The bed suddenly shifted, the tilt of the mattress jarring, and Nya was pulled into a strong, solid embrace. Her nose tickled at the smell of lemon and lavender, citrus and almost abrasive floral, as far from the smell of the eng flower of Thesolo—her father’s poison of choice—as she could get. The arms that clamped around her were lean and muscular, and the body it pulled her against was just as fit. The body was warm—so warm and cradling her so perfectly that she relaxed and sighed at how . . . right it felt before her fear and common sense kicked in. She was alone on the plane. But someone was in the bed behind her. Holding her. Had her distress been so acute that it had reached Ingoka’s ears? Had she conjured this sudden comfort? She knew the folklore of the lesser gods, of those who gave humans what they wanted but always took more than they gave. No, this is no time for fairy tale silliness. She tried to tug herself free from the stranger’s arm because, be they god or man, something really fucking weird was going on. The hold tightened. “Reste bei mir.” The sleep-slurred words came out in an exhalation that tickled Nya’s ear and made her belly jolt. She pushed at one of the arms from below and the hold loosened as the stranger snorted and began to move. A large hand patted her arm, paused, then pulled away. “What have we here?” The voice was deep and smooth, a European, judging from the strangely accented English. So definitely not a lesser god of Thesolo, and more likely a human—one who might be dangerous. She jumped up off the bed, listing a bit as the plane hit dipped and tilted, fumbling with her phone as her hands began to tremble slightly. She was on the plane usually reserved for the royal family of Thesolo. Ledi had made her listen to those true crime podcasts so Nya knew that this could be some depraved assassin. What kind of assassin snuggles people to death? Stranger things had happened. “Who are you and what do you want?” She tried to access the flashlight app, but her thumb was wet from the tears she’d pressed into submission and the fingerprint reader wouldn’t work. She pressed the button along the phone’s side to take photos instead, no unlocking required, and the bright bursts of the camera’s automatic flash revealed the outline of a man stretched out on the bed. The bed she had just sought out for safety and comfort. A jolt of anger and fear sliced through her as her thumb repetitively pressed the button. “What do you want?” she asked again, stepping back toward the door. “Hmm. Biscuits?” The lazy response was punctuated by the sound of shuffling on the sheets. “Biscuits would be super. I missed the in-flight meal.” Wait. That voice is familiar. And the language . . . A light suddenly flicked on, and Nya blinked several times, and then kept on blinking even after her eyes had adjusted. Her ears hadn’t lied. Oh! It’s him.

The Road to Bliss
by Denise N. Wheatley Genre: Contemporary Romance Published March 30, 2019
Newly engaged Timber West is a beauty and wellness entrepreneur who seemingly has it all. But her life is turned upside down when she breaks off her engagement with Brian after he questions her career choices and wavers on wanting more children. Timber turns to her friend Eva for sympathy, which is tricky considering Brian is also Eva’s father.
Timber eventually finds love again with sexy actor Alex and moves her company Soothing Bliss into a beautiful commercial space. With an exciting new man and a business that’s flourishing, Timber feels as though she’s on the perfect path. But she’s thrown into a whirlwind of turmoil when Soothing Bliss’s new location is threatened to be purchased by a callous art curator, and Alex’s popularity sparks his wandering eye. Then Brian reappears and they start up an unlikely friendship, giving Timber just the boost she needs. As Christmastime approaches, Timber’s wish is that her favorite holiday will bring about a miracle in her fight to keep Soothing Bliss in its rightful home. With a little compromise and dose of holiday magic, Timber wonders whether she and Brian can work through their past and mend a relationship that perhaps never should have unraveled. Reader Alert! Timber West always plays by the rules. So even she’s surprised when she decides to leave her prestigious job as a chemist and launch a beauty and wellness company. Her fiancé Brian, who was her chemistry professor during college and also happens to be her best friend’s father, isn’t happy with this decision. His disapproval leads to their breakup, but a devastated Timber eventually finds love again with a charismatic movie star. Life is good until both her new relationship and business begin to falter, leaving Timber reevaluating Brian and pondering whether she should give him a second chance. To My Readers: A story just isn’t a story without a large dose of romance and a happily ever after. THE ROAD TO BLISS is just that. This novel is a beautiful tale of love and second chances, with plenty of fun, drama and turmoil in between! My main character’s love affair feels so real to me, to the point where I found myself rooting for her in hopes that everything would work in her favor. Writing this book was a wonderful journey, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
Timber rested her head against the couch and thought about that night she and Brian’s relationship transitioned from academic to personal. After Eva had left for the city, Timber went back up to the apartment to tell the professor she was leaving. When she walked inside, he was sitting on the couch. He asked her to join him. She did. He was sitting on one end. She sat down on the other. The space in the middle was empty. He appeared miles away.
Timber felt the tears coming on again. But this time they weren’t tears of grief. They were tears of joy. And nervousness. Because she knew that she needed to explain why she’d shunned him over the past several months, and tell him how she really felt about him. Timber took a deep breath and turned towards him, ready to confess. “I love you,” Brian whispered. He looked directly into her eyes. His hands were folded in his lap. He sat perfectly still, his expression wrinkled with sincerity. Timber leaned back and stared at him in disbelief. She wanted to say something, but couldn’t because his statement had paralyzed her vocal chords. Her mouth hung open. She struggled to speak. But before she could, the professor slid into that empty middle seat and wrapped his arms around her. Timber embraced him, closing her eyes and finally allowing the tears to fall. The professor pulled away from her and smiled. “Are we still on for dinner tonight?” “Absolutely.” “Great. I’ll pick you up at seven. We have a lot to talk about, and a lot to figure out. But I think we should take things slowly so not to ruin something that we both seem to have wanted for quite some time.” “I agree,” Timber replied. The pair stood up and left the apartment. “By the way, you know you can call me Brian now,” he said amusingly. “That may be somewhat difficult considering I’ve been calling you Professor Morris all this time, but I’ll try,” Timber laughed. “I’ll see you at seven,” he said, walking Timber to her car then heading to his. “Hey,” Timber called out. “Yes?” “I love you, too.” “Good. I was waiting for that.” * * * Timber gave herself a quick once-over in the mirror then heard her bell ring. When she opened the door, Brian’s eyes widened and he took a step back. The dozen roses he was holding fell down by his side. She laughed and took the flowers then invited him in. “Wow. You look absolutely stunning,” he told her. “I couldn’t even speak when you opened the door.” “Yeah, I noticed!” Timber laughed, walking to the kitchen and putting the flowers in water. “Thank you. You look very nice, too.” And he did in his crisp blue shirt and perfectly tailored navy suit. His hair was freshly cut and he smelled divine. Timber felt a thrill shoot up her spine, still is awe that this night was finally happening. “I was thinking we could do Italian tonight,” Brian suggested when Timber walked back into the living room and placed her flowers on the coffee table. “By the way,” he continued, “Did I tell you how beautiful you look?” “I believe you did,” Timber blushed, grabbing her clutch. “Shall we go?” “Yes, we shall.” On the way to the restaurant, music and movies were the topics of conversation. After they ordered, they chatted about Eva. Throughout dinner, Timber caught Brian up on everything he’d missed over the past several months. During dessert, they discussed how Brian had married Eva’s mother at a very young age and had no idea what he was getting himself into. But he was glad that they’d remained great friends after their divorce, and they were both so proud of the way they’d co-parented with Eva. After dessert, Timber and Brian sipped espresso and discussed her upcoming first semester as a graduate student. He explained to her what she could expect, and what she should focus on depending on her career path after graduation. Three and a half hours had passed. And it was the best date that Timber had ever been on. The lively conversation continued on the drive back to Timber’s house. When Brian pulled into her driveway and walked her to the door, it was obvious that neither of them wanted the evening to end. And while they hadn’t discussed what the future held for them as a couple, it certainly seemed as if they both wanted to be together. “I had a wonderful time tonight,” Brian said. “So did I. It was the best date ever.” “Was it really? Well I’m glad to hear that. And thank you. That’s quite the compliment.” “It’s the truth. Great food, great conversation…it was as if we’d never lost touch.” “It was,” Brian agreed. “We’ve always had great chemistry.” He paused, then took Timber’s hand in his. “So does this mean you’d like to see me again?” “I would love to,” Timber responded, intertwining her fingers with his. “Good. I’m looking forward to it. And just so you know, I’ve wanted to be with you since the first day you walked into my classroom.” Timber stared at Brian through widened eyes. So it was official. He had in fact been just as interested in her as she’d been in him from the very beginning. “But I honestly never thought this would happen,” he continued, “Especially after every day that went by that I wasn’t able to talk to you. After you graduated, I didn’t think I’d ever see you again. So now that I have you here, I don’t ever want to let you go.” Brian leaned in and kissed Timber softly. She closed her eyes and relished in the moment, absorbing every single word that he had just spoken while his supple lips pressed against hers. She was so taken aback by his admission as well as this kiss that she felt as though she was floating on air. Timber hoped their relationship would last forever. After almost six years of inseparability, she was confident it would. When Brian slipped a diamond and platinum engagement ring on her finger one day late last year, she was convinced that it would…

A rainy-day ritual—a tea party between three little girls—becomes the framework of not only their friendship, but their lives.
Blonde, curly-haired Zoe is openhearted, kind and free-spirited, and dreams of becoming a famous actor in New York City. Shy Emily struggles with mental health but has the heart and soul of a writer. And Shannon—tall, athletic, strong—has a deep sense of loyalty that will serve her well when she heads off to military college. As Zoe, Emily and Shannon grow into women—forging careers, following dreams and finding love—they’ll learn that life doesn’t always unfold the way they want it to, but through it all, the one constant is each other, and their regular tea parties. And when the unthinkable happens, the girls must come together to face the greatest test of all. A deeply moving novel about the family that raises us, the hearts that nurture us and the great friendships that define our lives.
Friends, family, and careers, loving, living, losing and becoming the true version of yourself - the book is a journey of three women's lives, and their loved ones, over the years following the paths they have to take to find their places and true purposes in life.
There were so much life and subsistence in the tale that I found myself taking it in with just a few chapters at the time, to enjoy and digest the story to its fullest. Not every book is meant to be inhaled at one sitting, and I adored to observe the lives of the characters a little bit at the time. There is a bushel of characters that tells their point of view to the life events of the protagonist as well as to their families, to the supportive cast and crew for the girls' lives. The time goes on for several decades as the readers get to witness the little princesses age and see how their lives take new shapes, in new places. There are several themes in the book, from depression and its consequences when untreated, to the challenges of single parenting, to searching for your purpose and career, to family drama, alcoholism, from abandonment issues to overbearing mothers, everything you can imagine people struggle with through their lives. But there are also moments of healing, of falling in love and learning to trust, and daring to take the leap for living fully - with many characters in the story, each of them with their own different kinds of burdens in life, you witness the characters grow and learn, mature, and develop, as they deal with their hindrances in life. There are many life lessons to be sifted out, many wisdom's of life taken to heart, prejudgements unlearned, and acceptance embraced while reading the tale. Throughout the book, there is one message that comes clear repeatedly: you can always start anew, there is nothing you cannot overcome if you so wish, you can always come home, and your family - or the friends that become your family - will always be there for you. Love will always win. A lovely, heartening, and wholesome tale of small-town Texas and a group of its inhabitants throughout the years, while it entertained, it also inspired, encouraged, and uplifted. A tale that leaves an imprint to your heart ~ Five Spoons

After years of estrangement, Mercedes Laughlin has finally reconciled with her older brother. It should be the happiest time of her life, getting to know Truck and his new wife…and it would be, if an ex wasn’t causing her trouble. Add in Truck’s boss, Colonel Colton Robinson, an amazingly distracting man whom she met under embarrassing circumstances, and Macie’s got a bit more on her plate than she can handle. From the moment they met, Colt was fascinated by Macie, and helping her through an anxiety attack at her brother’s wedding didn’t diminish the appeal. He’d do his best to sweep her off her feet, if not for a little voice telling him to tread lightly—until a frantic phone call changes the plan. Macie’s being targeted, and Colt’s determined to keep her safe while he and her brother eliminate the threat. Colt isn’t about to let his friend lose his sister again so soon…or miss his own chance at a happy ending with Macie before they’ve barely had a beginning. The entire day had been building up to this moment, at least in Colt’s eyes. It felt like hours of foreplay, which was exciting rather than frustrating. He hadn’t been this eager to be with a woman for as long as he could remember. He’d dated, but after the incident overseas, he’d lost the desire for any kind of relationship. He concentrated on being the best commander he could be to protect the men who served under him. Until now. Until Macie. “Today was awesome,” Macie said softly. They were sitting on the couch in the spacious suite, each drinking a glass of wine. “Yes it was,” Colt agreed. Her hand was resting on his thigh and he covered it with his own. She stared at him for a long moment before leaning forward and putting her glass on the coffee table in front of them. Then she took his glass from his hand and placed it next to hers. Colt watched her take a deep breath before she spoke. “I haven’t been this relaxed in a long time, and it’s because of you. Usually when I’m in a strange city, I stress about directions, who’s around me, and what my plans are for the entire day. But I didn’t have to do any of that with you. I trusted you to know where you were going and that you would figure out what we would do all day. It felt good. I like being with you, Colt. I have a question, and I hope you’ll be honest with me.” “Of course I will,” Colt answered immediately. “Does the difference in our ages bother you? Or the fact that I’m Ford’s sister? I know he gave you a hard time about the night of his wedding. I hadn’t told him about it because I thought you saw me as just a friend or something. But now that things are…better between us, I got to thinking about the fact that I’m a decade younger than you are.” “It doesn’t bother me in the slightest,” Colt told her. “In fact, I hadn’t even thought about it until you brought it up. Does it bother you?” “No,” she said immediately. “But I don’t want you to get in trouble or have anyone at work say anything because I’m only thirty-three and you’re forty-three.” “Listen,” Colt said earnestly. “We’re both adults. I like you, and you like me. I don’t give a flying fuck what other people say about us. And, if you do care, I’ll do my best to shut that shit down if I hear it. What goes on between us is only between us. It’s no one else’s business. And Truck and I talked. He loves you, Mace. Even though you weren’t communicating, he still thought about you and worried about you all these years. I’ll admit that he wasn’t happy with me, but he’s not going to be thrilled about anyone being with you, simply because you’re his little sister.” “Okay,” she said. “Okay?” he asked. “Yeah.” “Good.”

From NYT and USA Today bestselling author Julie Ann Walker comes an epic tale of sacrifice, friendship, and the awe-inspiring power of love. Maggie: Ten years ago, Cash Armstrong stole my heart. Then he promptly joined the army—dragging my best friend with him—and left me crying on the front porch in a red sequined prom dress. Now he's back. They're both back. Cash, the one who still has my heart. And Luc, the one who saved my life. Cash: How do you know if you’re at the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end? That's what I've been trying to figure out since a traumatic brain injury made me "unfit to serve." I'm back in New Orleans, and picking up the shattered pieces of my past means I must confront where my life's journey began... and where it all might end. Luc: Long ago, Maggie May was mine. Not mine in the way you might think. She was mine because she was my only friend. Then Cash came along and we became brothers by something stronger than blood. We became brothers by choice. When tragedy struck, I was forced to make a decision that changed all our lives. I thought, after ten years, it was safe to come back home. I was wrong... The “In Moonlight and Memories” trilogy debuts July 1st! And always remember, “The greatest of loves can begin in the simplest of ways...” A little about Julie…
Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Julie grew up in a house full of women – she has three older sisters. As you can imagine, there was no lack of drama… or romance. Her mother enrolled her in a book club as soon as she began to read and it was the small spark that ignited her voracious appetite for the written word. Because of Julie’s early immersion in literature, she found writing came quite naturally. In high school, she won multiple writing contests and was the proud senior editor of The Tiger’s Tale – her school newspaper. During her college years, however, she longed for a challenge. “Reading and writing felt like second nature to me, so I looked for a way to flex my mental muscles,” she recalls. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, Julie began teaching advanced high school mathematics. “I loved working with the students and facing the challenges of the classroom, but I longed for the occasional snow day when I could race to the local book store, buy two or three new novels, and curl up in front of the fire to read.” It wasn’t until a fortuitous move to Chicago that Julie once more returned to her first passion. Now Julie loves to travel the world looking for views to compete with her deadlines. When she’s not writing, she enjoys camping, hiking, cycling, cooking, petting every dog that walks by her, and… reading, of course! Author Links: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram

Spending three weeks on a bus with your boyfriend, his rock band, and their entire tour crew: possibly a bad idea.
Spending three weeks on a bus with your ex-boyfriend, his rock band, and their entire tour crew: definitely a bad idea. But with the contract signed and the gigs all booked, Roxanne Nadeau finds herself heading out on the road as the accompanying violinist for reigning rock gods Sherbrooke Station, despite being on less than cordial terms with their bassist. Not that the situation comes as a surprise. Roxanne and Cole’s near-constant on/off status has become a longstanding joke among their friends, and while the eight years of history between the two might suggest that resistance is futile, Roxanne’s determined to make this breakup their last. Cole’s equally convinced he can use the opportunity to win her back for good. Some conniving band-mates, way too many long drives, and the insanity of tour life all turn the bus into a pressure cooker that would detonate even the most stable of relationships. The explosion is inevitable; it’s how much of themselves they can salvage from the rubble that Roxanne and Cole will need to figure out.
Her eyes found mine. Her fingers slipped around my palm. She tugged it upwards until my fingertips brushed her temple.
“Read my mind.” “Roxanne...” “Read my mind,” she repeated. I could read her mind. I could read its confusion, its hesitation, but most of all, I could read its want. She wanted the distance between us to close as much as I did. She wanted to feel what it was like to have my mouth on hers, to feel the grass beneath her back as I shifted my body over her. She wanted the sun to stop where it was and let us stay here long enough for everything to make sense. But the sun couldn’t stop, and nothing made sense.
