Chloe Larson is a historian obsessed with clearing the name of her grandfather, eight generations back. After his heroic exploits during the Prussian Wars his life slid into oblivion and madness, taking with him the location of a queen’s spectacular emerald jewels. The discovery of his cryptic two-hundred year old journal offers a clue, except it's been stolen and her only hope of recovery is proving uncooperative.
Finnegan Kane is a top-notch marine bounty hunter on the hunt for the Emerald Fire, a 120-foot Sunseeker yacht seized by ruthless Caribbean pirates. It’s the kind of dirty work that keeps his antique ship restoration business afloat, but that doesn’t mean he has to put up with the fiery demands of an admittedly gorgeous historian. When Chloe offers the one thing that practically guarantees success—the GPS coordinates of the Fire’s location—he has no choice but to team up and forge into uncharted waters. With danger at every turn, Chloe and Finnegan must battle against the odds to decipher a historical legacy and settle a score against a family gone mad.
What a fantastic thrill ride the story gave me! It is cleverly built plot wise, well written, and absolutely a pleasure to read, a story that will enthrall you, and capture your mind.
The modern day pirates, the historical mystery of hundreds of years, the obvious connection between Chloe and Finn, that seems to have been a predestinated in the past, it all fascinated and delighted me. The suspense, mysteries, and action is fast pace, and riveting, dangerous, and deadly. But the plot has enough moments for Finn and Chloe to get to know each other, and their attraction to deepen. Just when the tale lulls you into a serene moment of relationship development, the plot has a twist, and off it goes again with full speed. I loved Finn and Chloe together and as characters. They are well developed, has many great qualities, yet aren't 'perfect'. They seem to understand each other from the start, and even more so as time goes by. The passion between them is scorching and ardent. The secondary characters all contribute to the story, are interesting, and endearing, especially the father figures. There was not a moment I didn't enjoy this tale, I wanted to inhale it, and then have some more. For history, action, suspense, and romance readers, this brings something to all, the fervent, intense action, mysteries of the past, and history being written again, mixed with passion, love, and adoration, deceit and betrayal,an adventure indeed! ~ Five Spoons

Winter’s Touch
The Last Riders #8 By: Jamie Begley Releasing July 19, 2016 Young Ink Press
As president of The Last Riders, Viper’s only fear was losing his wife. After all, he had almost lost her once before.
As wife to the president, Winter lived in fear every day: fear that a club enemy would take Viper from her, fear that one of the club women would tempt him to stray, fear that she wasn’t enough of a woman for him. One thing Winter didn’t fear was risking everything to carry her husband’s child, even her health, yet Viper refused to take the chance. Losing hope, Winter makes one last ditch effort, determined to make Viper realize that some things were worth fighting for besides the club.
“Want to tell me why you threw a winning hand?”
Winter stubbornly firmed her jaw. “I was tired of playing.” She pressed her hands flat on the wall beside her head, trying to gain leverage to push herself away from Viper’s hard body. However, Viper kissed the flesh behind her ear as she felt his hand slide up her leg, bunching her dress to her waist. “You’re never too tired to play,” Viper contradicted. “You didn’t look tired.” He took her earlobe into his mouth, nibbling on it until she used her butt to try to push him away. She only found herself pressed flatter against the wall. “Maybe I was tired of watching Sasha look at you like it was you she was fucking,” she snarled over her shoulder. He gave a low chuckle. “Does it matter, as long as it’s not me fucking her?” “Yes, dammit! It does! How would you feel if Train was staring…? Never mind. I know how you would feel. You’d think it’s hot.” “It is hot when I fuck you.”
Jamie Begley grew up in a very small, and a very rural town in Kentucky. Growing up poor was hard but she would go back if she could just to get that feeling of going to the corner and popping open a soda.
For now her days are spent writing, writing, and writing. She would like all her fans to know one thing, “All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best.” Author Links: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Goodreads
For Your Protection
By: Amber Bardan Releasing July 19, 2016 Self-Published
You shouldn't mix business with pleasure.
Yet pleasure seems to be the one and only thing on Charlize's mind the moment Connor steamrolls into her life. Desperate to save her family company, prove she's more than a pretty face and worthy of being CEO, pleasure is a distraction she can't afford. She doesn't want a bodyguard, especially not one whose caveman heroics kick her libido into hyperdrive. Surrounded by enemies, she's not sure if Connor is a man she can trust. Connor knows better than to get personal with clients. Yet there couldn't be anything more personal about his feelings for Charlize. He'll win her trust, preferably one orgasm at a time. With Connor in her office, her home, driving her to sweet, merciless distraction, there's only so long Charlize can resist his sexy, dominant brand of protection. WARNING: This is an Amber Bardan Alpha Romance, featuring one dirty-talking hero obsessed with his heroine, and a Happily Ever After. No cliffhangers.
She came right at him.
Connor leaned back in his seat. Shit. You’d think five-years in the job, he’d have more discretion. But what red-blooded man wouldn’t stare at her? She weaved between tables, hips swaying, full-fucking-irresistible cleavage peeking out from her blouse. He kept his eyes on his glass, even if his peripheral was having a feast. “Hi.” Her voice was as lush as the rest of her. He’d fucked up. She’d noticed him watching and now there’d be a confrontation. If he was compromised, then he’d be forced to take matters to the next level. He looked up. Mother-fucker. Jet-black hair flowed over her shoulders. He’d seen her tug that hair from its ponytail and fluff it. Cheeky, attention-seeking minx. It hadn’t been so bad from over there. He hadn’t been able to smell her as he did now. He hadn’t known she used vanilla scented shampoo then. His fists curled. But her hair wasn’t the problem, even if he kept imagining it curled around his fist. The problem was her wide, almond-shaped eyes the color of butter warming in a pan, melting his brain. “What?” She flinched, smile slipping, then reached to her front. He tried to stay still, damned hard work, because she reached between those magnificent tits and pulled out a bill. “I’ll give you ten dollars if you kiss me right now?” He glanced at the money in her hand. Un-freaking-believable. “Do I look like a gigolo to you, woman?” “No, I imagine the scowl would be terrible for business.” She laughed, the husky sound of it had his muscles clenching. “But I saw you looking at me, and I really need you to kiss me, so if the money’s offensive, would you just do it for free?” Kiss her for free? It’d cost if he kissed her—no way out of that, but he’d be the one paying. She held his gaze, then sighed and squeezed the bill back into her top. “Never mind, I must have misunderstood.” Her big eyes went soft and sad. Fuck, did she do that on purpose? Did anyone ever actually say no to her? He scooted back his chair. Well, if was a kiss she wanted, he’d damned well show her how it’s done. Her lips parted as he rose, and her head tipped back. She gulped. He was used to that. Little women like her realizing they’d bitten off more than they could chew. She probably hadn’t noticed when he’d been seated that he’d have over a foot on her. Maybe he’d have gone slow, moved in gently, if she hadn’t demanded that last part—right now. The cheek. He took a step. She swallowed again. This time he let himself take in the sight of her curves—he let his gaze trail all over her. He reached for her shoulder, but the next thing he knew he’d buried his hand in that hair he’d been fantasizing about since he clamped eyes on her.

After years in hiding, Josie Colton has her life back. But to settle a family promise, she must find an old clue buried at the Colton Valley Ranch.
She enlists the help of ranch foreman Tanner Grange—in exchange for working as his twin toddlers' new nanny. On their search, the single dad soon begins to lasso Josie's heart. Tanner agrees to assist Josie and is alarmed by how the Colton beauty fits so perfectly into his life. He's got his hands full investigating the disappearance of his boss and caring for his little girls. When it's clear someone will kill to stop Josie from uncovering the clue, Tanner vows to protect her…for life!
Danger, apparent kidnapping, gunfights, and twins on a ranch, while Josie is trying to fulfill her serial killer father's last wish, by digging up an old watch hiding somewhere on the enormous ranch.
Josie is young, but she has lived a rough life with many unfortunate and unexpected turns. She comes off as a bit emotional and overdramatic, her feelings get involved fast and furious, and she has no doubt that Tanner doesn't answer to them. I admired her self-esteem and belief in herself, or just stubbornness, in a face of constant rejection from Tanner. The new Colton family doesn't have much space at all in the story. The members are barely introduced, but what little is forthcoming of them, isn't very flattering. The kids stole the show, the twins are adorable and gave many smiles as the story progress. Tanner and Josie are stuck in very tight quarters, while the investigation is going on. They forced closeness gives them an opportunity to get to know each other and share with each other about their lives. It is genuine and natural, and they form a bond that sparks deeper feelings in their hearts. The story was passionate and emotive. The danger, life-threatening moments, game in sporadically, and often because Josie didn't think and plan her actions against the known risk. Even with the high emotions from Josie, I found this story a bit shallow and tame. I was left wanting more, more action, more on Tanner's development of his feelings, more edge and depth to the elements. But it gave an intriguing link to the new Colton family, where the mystery of the father's disappearance isn't solved yet. ~ Three Spoons
The past will always be between them
He swore he'd never return home. Then a flat tire lands Dean Presley back in Grass Lake, Tennessee, and he's forced to confront the woman he left behind. Faith Stratton was once the love of his life. Now her gifted brother could be the rising Nashville star Dean needs for his struggling music label. But it means taking Sawyer away from the horse therapy farm that Faith's so proud of. That won't be easy, especially since those old feelings that started all the trouble... Well, let's just say he can't go back there, because he doesn't want to relive the memories of the terrible accident that drove them apart.
Everyone processes grief in a different way. Faith has lost so much in her young life and is just trying to hold it all together, to survive until next day, clinging on to those dear to her heart and still there for her. She wants to keep everyone happy so that no one else would end up in an accident, and leave too early while angry with her.
Dean escaped his grief, sorrow, and loss, and swore he would never return. Life happens, and he suddenly has to not only face Faith again, but his own responsibility with the events in the past, his grief, and his parents. The story focus on the process both Faith and Dean go through, to cope with the past, and to get a handle on the grief still inside and burning from years of guilty feelings and remorse. I had a hard time with Faith, I'll admit that. The codependency she had developed to her brother, her trying to manipulate, influence, and shape her brother's life, the selfish attitude about him succeeding on his own, and 'leaving her behind' all went a little far. I understand she had had tremendous losses in her life, still vulnerable after her father's passing, but to go behind her brother's back, nope. I think she went way too far with her acting up, and I was frustrated with her for the second half of the story. The lack of communication, not sharing some important information with the rest of the family, that would have saved all the characters involved years of pain and sorrow, was another point of chagrin for me. If everything was solved with one conversation, why wasn't that conversation had years ago?! Obviously, I truly got into the tale and got emotionally involved, since the story managed to get such a reaction from me. I like how the ending shaped and the platformed it made for the future series. The journey Dean and Faith had to take to get there wasn't without growing pains and soreness. They both went through a transformation, and through that, they were able to find new chances and a new direction in their lives. A little bit like a phoenix rises from the ashes, they were able to make something beautiful, lasting, and successful out of the turmoil they both had previously been. ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
SAFE AT HOME
Leah Murphy just wants to feel safe again after a violent break-in. Moving to Blue Falls, Texas, is the first step. Renting the bunkhouse from rancher Tyler Lowe is the second. But Leah is uneasy around the handsome cowboy, despite his kindness. Tyler knows all too well how difficult it is to rebuild trust. He's trying to help his young niece heal from her own dark memories. When he sees how Maddie responds to Leah, he can't help feeling grateful—and attracted to the beautiful woman. He knows he has to move slowly to win Leah's heart, but he also knows she's worth the wait.
There's nothing that heals the troubled soul faster than the love of a Texas cowboy, company of a sweet little girl, a wounded puppy who adores you unconditionally, and the nature surrounding you.
The fear and terror Leah feels in her mind and heart after the attack against her in her home, is apparent. The anxiety tries to take a hold of her, and the jitters she feels are real. Tyler feels overwhelmed and alone with the huge responsibility of his niece. He loves her more than life itself, would do anything for her, to protect her, to make her the happy curious, full of life little girl she used to be before her mother abandoned her. The feelings are so raw and fragile, and my heart was aching for them both. I enjoyed the tender, sweet feeling of the story, the care, protectiveness, the attraction between Leah and Tyler, it all was filled with hope and joy, despite the tragic events in both of their lives. There were moments of raw heartache, fright and fear, joy and laughter, love and elation. The story swept me with it, and at the end left me smiling, feeling the hope, faith and anticipation of better days to come, filled with love and life. ~ Four Spoons
Let Me
The O’Brien Family Book Two By: Cecy Robson Released April 19, 2016 Self-Published
Once he was broken beyond repair. Now this MMA contender is fighting to be a better man—for her. RT Book Reviews proclaims that the O’Brien Family series from award-winning author Cecy Robson “has the hottest brothers ever!” And in Let Me, it is Finn’s turn to discover how love can heal the deepest wounds.
A mixed martial arts star on the rise, Finn O’Brien dismantles his opponents with brutal precision. And yet beneath his fierce persona, Finn is raw from a trauma he’s buried for years . . . until the day his deep-rooted rage erupts and lands him in court-mandated therapy. Finn’s not one to bare his soul, but if talking it out means meeting beautiful women like Sol Marieles, he’ll give it a shot. Sol is working toward her master’s degree in psychology, and already she feels like she’s in over her head. With an important internship on the line and a scary family situation demanding her attention, the last thing Sol needs is Finn around to distract her. The man is ripped and seriously sexy yet it’s his troubled side that warns her to keep her distance. But their attraction is intense, and he clearly has the heat to see how far and fast their passion takes them. Alone, Finn and Sol have been fighting to find happiness in their lives. Together, there’s no stopping them as they face their greatest challenges—not in the ring, but in their hearts.
I see the strike coming at me a split second before it connects with my skull. My head snaps back from the force, the crowds’ hollers resonating like a muffled cry in the distance. It was a good punch― lightning quick with enough impact to knock most guys on their asses. But I’m not most guys.
You hit me, I’m only going to hit you harder. My right hand shoots up, blocking and smacking away the kick gunning for my ribs. I pivot out of the way, again, and again, and again, avoiding Easton’s arms and legs as they come at me. He’s fast, strong, with a six inch reach advantage. But he’s too eager to take me out and not pacing himself like he should. Already he’s breathing hard and it’s just the start of the second round. I take my time to figure him out, planning each move, searching for that opening I need. Do I take a few bashes because of it? Sure. It’s part of the job. But believe it or not, it’s part of the job I look forward to. Those punches and kicks remind me that I still feel, that I’m still human. And that for now, I’m still alive. “Oh!” some drunk behind me yells when my uppercut finds Easton’s chin. He staggers back, swiping the blood oozing from his lip, yet he keeps his grin. He’s trying to make like it was a lucky shot. That it won’t happen again. Like me, Easton needs to win this match. And if he does, he’ll move up to the top ten, making him a contender for the UFC Lightweight title. Talent aside, the guy’s a raging asshole, and so are the idiots in his training camp. They’ve been trash-talking since the moment I agreed to this match. I didn’t really care and laughed most of it off until they got personal and took it a step too far. Again he nails me in the head. It’s not as hard as it was last time which tells me he’s getting tired. Does it hurt? I guess. But let’s say I’m a guy who’s used to pain.

Harlequin Junkie - Spotlight & Giveaway
What do you want people to take away from reading this book?
Entertainment value, first, of course. I want them to believe that healing is possible. That loving after great emotional damage is possible. To be able to believe that sometimes, people really do stand up to their promises. And to see that money and power don’t always win.
Colorimetry - Excerpt
“Something wrong?” Brand new detective Chantel Harris, who’d recently transferred from a beat cop to internet crime investigation, happened to be walking by Sam’s desk as that last expletive slipped out.
Sam knew Chantel. Not from any work they’d done together on the job, but because they were both members of the Santa Raquel High Risk Team—an organization of professionals in all fields who came into contact with victims of domestic violence. From nurse to school counselor, cops, doctors, lawyers, the team had formed an intricate communication system geared solely to prevent domestic violence deaths.
Book Reviews & More by Kathy - Envious
I’m a bit envious of you. You have this story ahead of you. I’ve already finished it. For me it’s one of those books that leaves you feeling bereft at the end because it’s over. I can’t really even tell you why. I’m not sure why. I love Sam. He’s not perfect. Far from it. But he’s completely honest. With himself. And with others. He stands by what he says. Does what he says he’s going to do.
And then…he finds out that he’s not in control of the whole world – that sometimes he can’t do as he says because it’s out of his control. He does not take this news well.
Books & Spoons - Review
"A heartfelt and poignant story with serious issues handled with care, yet in a raw and lifelike matter. . .
A puzzling and gripping plot in a captivating and thrilling tale, with strong characters, and fragile romance gives an enticing novel indeed."
Maya's Musings - My Favorite... Song, Book & Movie
don’t have a particular song that inspires me to write. But I am completely inspired to write by music. Every single book has an album or soundtrack that is played over and over again during the entire time I’m writing the book. Before I start a book, I listen to music, various albums, until I find the one that ‘feels’ right. It has to evoke the emotion I think the particular book will require.
Beck Valley Books - Rachel
And my daughter…she graduated with a degree in psychology, too, at 17, with me as her chaperone all those years on college campuses, and bringing her home with me every single night. Unlike, Bloom, my daughter went on to law school from there and is now a federal prosecutor giving birth to her own daughter this summer. Even in real life, happy endings are possible.
underneath the covers - Excerpt
She turned back toward him, her brown eyes filled not only with the compassion and understanding that came with her job, but with…acceptance. She wasn’t appalled by the mess he was.
Becky on Books - Review
"It had it all–swoon-worthy romance, LOL moments, hand-wringing suspense, and completely believable and relatable characters who I could have spent another couple of hundred pages with without complaint."
Ali Williams - Review
"It’s the little details in this book that make it great, like the fact that when the precinct can’t afford to put Bloom up, Sam takes her to the safest place he knows – his own home. And the fact that we see these two fragile people working together, building a life together, without even realising that they’re doing it.
It’s a story full of heart – and one very adorable dog – that’s guaranteed to make you smile…and think."
EskieMama Reads - Review
". . . a great story woven around Bloom and Sam and all the other characters that comprise this story. Would recommend it to anyone to read it so they can see what she had gone through and will go through before she is totally free. "
Thoughts of a Blonde - Review
"An emotion filled journey towards healing greets us as we delve into Tara Taylor Quinn’s newest novel! It’s full of intrigue as we await retribution, but also packed with kindness as multiple people who have been touched by abuse in one way or another work toward a common goal."
Harlie's Books - Review
"I don’t want to spoil anything when it comes to this book but don’t think that this your typical survival/rescuer story. There is so much more depth to Bloom and Sam. There path to romance is bumpy but cute, too. They are tackling some rough terrain and it will take them both to realize what is truly important."
Brooke Blogs - Sam and My Process
That question that was very clear in my mind was, what do you do? You’ve made a promise and circumstances beyond your control prevents you from keeping that promise. That alone is bad enough. You won’t be so easily trusted now. But what if that broken promise puts the life of an innocent woman at risk? How would you live with yourself?
Wishful Endings - Pet Therapy
Secondary characters…we kind of look over them. And yet…they are as integral to the story as plates and silverware are to dinner. They aren’t the food. You can have some meals without them. But overall, the experience would not be as full, as complete, as enjoyable and layered and delicious without dishes and utensils.

Suddenly a Father
Rancher CJ Thorn isn't ready to graduate from uncle to brand-new daddy—but he has no choice. After his widowed brother runs off, a pair of adorable twins have no one but CJ…and lovely neighbor Molly Langley. She's helped with the girls for so long that she's almost part of the family. Almost. CJ knows his family isn't good enough for her. Not when his brother's actions have disgraced the Thorn name yet again. Watching CJ become a devoted father would soften any woman's heart. Yet Molly must remain immune. CJ deserves more than a woman who can't have children. Held back by fear, it'll take a disaster forcing the community together before they're ready to risk a chance on happiness.
A story with a great balance of tragedy and triumph, a little suspense, and lots of love. So many moments that made me smile and sigh, take notice, and moments that nearly broke my heart with the sorrow, and feelings of not being enough.
CJ is a great man of faith and dignity, he is kind, caring, and fair-minded, he seeks God's guidance on his actions, and is willing to take responsibility and carry his share of burdens. Yet his family's past has laid a shadow on his life, and he doesn't think he will measure up, be good enough for Molly. Molly has her own burdens, feelings of inadequacy, not having enough to offer. Her heart desperately loves CJ and his nieces, wants to be a family with them, but the one thing CJ wants, she can't give him. I loved the patience of CJ, not giving up on Molly, or being a parent to the girls, or the troubled boys in town. His character spoke to me strongly about a man of faith, and how they will be recognized by their actions. The sadness in Molly is palpable and heartbreaking. I felt the sorrow she had in her heart, and how CJ was able to make her smile despite everything, was beautiful. I wished she would have had the courage to tell him earlier about her doubts, would have saved a lot of heartaches, but on the other hand, fit nicely into the flow of the plot. The sermons of their preacher shared the message of faith, their life demonstrating it every step of the way. The unity of the small town was commendable and set an example for the younger generation. And talking about the younger generation, the twins stole my heart completely. Even though their loss and pain were unbearable, I liked that they were not set out to be 'perfect', but instead they were typical four years olds, a handful at times, sweet the other. A story with a great message of faith and hope, how love can heal the deepest wounds, and give purpose for tomorrows to come. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption
David Misch Satirical/Humor Release Date: July 21st, 2016 Self-Published Print Length: 71 pages Format: Digital and Paperback
POWER! WEALTH! SEX! What are these things without the corruption that feeds them? In A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO CORRUPTION, veteran humorist, David Misch, offers an easy and deliciously funny step-by-step guide on how to find or create corruption wherever you need it. If you appreciated America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't by Stephen Colbert, or The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents Earth (The Book) by Jon Stewart, you’ll enjoy the many “truths” of CORRUPTION!
Most people believe that the high-paying world of lying, cheating, stealing, kickbacks, bribes and blackmail is hopelessly out of reach. They’re right… unless they buy this book. In just 71 fact(ish)-filled pages, comedy writer David Misch shows you dozens of sure-fire, time-tested and only marginally illegal ways to feed at the trough of political, financial and/or romantic depravity. But don’t take our word for it – listen to the master… "Not everyone can be corrupt; it takes a magical combination of opportunity, moral turpitude and having something to sell: wealth, power, sex. (Got the set? Score!) Or, in lieu of those admirable attributes, a willingness to give up all moral standards and betray anyone who trusts you. Does this sound like you? Then welcome to “A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption”!" And remember, “A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption” by David Misch has been called “The funniest book ever written about corruption” by corruption expert David Misch!
My dictionary defines “corruption” as “the act of impairing integrity, virtue, or moral principle; the state of being debased; impurity; wickedness; depravity.”
Wow. Ol’ Dictionary’s gettin’ pretty judgmental for an inanimate object in a dying technology. Let’s get real, peeps: corruption is deceit in pursuit of personal gain. And while we can debate whether deceit is “good” or “bad”, nobody argues with personal gain. What are we after in life – personal loss? I don’t think so. And personal gain ain’t gonna leap onto your thighs for a free lap-dance; you gotta make it come to you. There are lots of ways to do this: Wishing. Hoping. Hard Work. All perfectly valid... if you’re the world’s biggest pussy. No, a brief perusal of today’s headlines shows that Corruption as a route to wealth and happiness is fast, easy and effective, other than when it takes years, requires enormous effort, and doesn’t work. But let’s face it, not everyone can be corrupt; it takes a magical combination of opportunity, moral turpitude and having something to sell: wealth, power, sex. (Got the set? Score!) Or, in lieu of those admirable attributes, a willingness to give up all moral standards and betray anyone who trusts you. Does this sound like you? Then welcome to “A Beginner’s Guide to Corruption”! A bit of preliminary advice; before fooling others, many expert corruptioneers find it helpful to fool themselves. Believing that what you do for personal gain is actually a sacrifice for your family/company/country is crucial to getting away with it. When Chief Bill Clinton Impeacher Newt Gingrich was discovered having an affair during the impeachment, he explained “There’s no question that, partially driven by how passionately I feel about this country, things happened in my life that were not appropriate.” Ah, Newt, we miss you. (Meanwhile, Assistant Chief Clinton Impeacher Dennis Hastert was making multimillion-dollar payoffs to one of the teenagers he molested as a high school wrestling coach.) To be conscious you’re evil risks Snidely Whiplash Syndrome, in which the victim grows a long moustache and twirls it obsessively while chortling. (SWS is especially challenging for women, a gender generally unschooled in the craft of evil-moustache-twirling.) This book [Note to readers under 20: A “book” (buk) is a papyrus-based wireless display device which uses ultra-thin “pages” to convey information] will reveal the secret to success through corruption (and its bff fraud) in the fields of Politics, Finance and Love, and will give you this information in less than 30 minutes, assuming you skip the first 9 pages. Why should obscene financial wealth and supercilious social status belong only to the professionally corrupt? I dream of a time when – thanks to their purchase of this moderately-priced “book” [see above] – every American will be able to say “I’m rich! I’m corrupt! And I’m not guilty! (Although I’m willing to plea bargain.)”

Is she part of the solution…or the problem?
It could be a terrorist threat. Or is it some other sinister plot? An unprecedented rash of security breaches at San Diego's international airport is putting passengers at risk and bringing the competence of the airport's chief of security, Ariana Atkins, into question. With explosives the weapon of choice, police K-9 unit captain Logan O'Connor and his bomb detection dog, Boomer, might be Ariana's best, if not only, line of defense. Logan is certain his belief in Ariana, and his growing love for her, aren't misplaced…but it wouldn't be the first time he's misjudged someone's intentions.
An intriguing look at the behind the closed doors airport security and K-9 teams part in it, the bond the partners have, between the handler and the dog, was adorable and sweet.
The story's main focus is on the security problems at the airport, the workings of the team, the hierarchy, and the personnel problems of the workforce at the airport, as they are trying to fix the recent problems, solve the mysteries of the bombs, and find out who is behind the attacks. The tension from the suspense is high, the mistrust on all the levels of the operation is breaking down the system from the top level on, with the domino effect, putting travelers lives to risk. Even though the attraction between Ariana and Logan is obvious, their work responsibilities make it difficult for them to connect on a deeper, personal level. They romance takes a backseat on the story, yet the feelings they have for each other has a big effect on the outcome. Trusting each other takes an effort, and willingness to risk their hearts without trust, seems like too much to ask. I was left wondering why Ariana had such a trust issues and why she automatically believed the worst of Logan in every situation. The hectic situations at their jobs didn't give them much time to connect, and the lack of communication between them creates frustrating conflicts. Fascinating and thought-provoking suspense, that kept me on the edge and captivated my interest, alluring and sweet attraction blooming into deeper feelings in the midst of the chaos and anxiety, and adorable K-9 dogs, willing to protect you by risking their lives, all makings of a great riveting entertainment ~ Four Spoons

The Challenge By: Teri Riggs
Publish date: December 21, 2015 Decadent Publishing
The Challenge between Ellie Ryan and Vince Corelli had been tough. It was both mentally and physically exhausting, not to mention overloaded with sexual tension. In the end, Ellie exited victorious as the test pilot of the brand new XH8 helicopter, Vince was offered a high paying private sector job, and they finally allow themselves one night of passion before going their separate ways.
Months later, Ellie’s crew has been murdered and the prototype helicopter she was piloting hijacked. All evidence leads to her involvement in a deadly terrorist game. Her only hope of survival is to open herself up and accept help, if it arrives in time. Vince, a Resolutions operative, is sent to retrieve the XH8 from Colombia and deal with the woman the U.S. military believes to be behind the plot to kill hundreds of thousands of Americans, but will he be able to overcome his trust issues in time to prove Ellie’s innocence?
A raw and edgy story, filled with danger, violence, strong emotions, camaraderie, and new chances in love, the forever kind.
The banter and ribbing between the fly crew is ruthless, yet harmless, there's a considerable amount of bad language in the story, and even though it would be expected within a military crew, the amount of it stood out. Because of the constant joking around, when the action starts, and things starts to go wrong, I found it at first hard grasp the seriousness of the situation, and the reality of what was going on. Setting the scene takes a while, but when the action starts, it's high with adrenaline and fast paced. From there the danger is constant, the fear palpable. The violence is brutal, deadly, and not all the key players necessarily survive. Vince and Ellie know each other, after working together on the Challenge. The one night they had together, sealed their faith, and their feelings towards each other. Facing each other again in the frail situation, when trust is essential, but missing, the lust and the deep need for each other take them both by surprise. The scenes get hot and steamy and in the middle of the fight for survival, their feelings intensified. After the mistakes of their last encounter, Vince quickly admits his feelings, determined to prove to Ellie, that the trust, devotion, and adoration are real and lasting. Intense, enthusiastic, passionate story where they take no prisoners, no mercy is available to those who has crossed the line, where love is a rare find and fragile trust is taken to the challenge itself. ~ Four Spoons
“Well, flyboy, looks like the best man won The Challenge.” Chief Ellie Ryan raised her bottle of beer. The rest of the men gathered around a table at The Cockpit bar, followed suit.
“Except the best man in this instance is a woman.” Vince Corelli clinked his longneck against hers and noted for the one-millionth time what a damn fine-looking woman sat next to him. How often did he get to meet the real deal…an awesome pilot and a man’s wet dream rolled into one? After six months of working side by side, Vince needed to take his Ellie-inspired, constant hard-on and hit the road. “Hey man, how’s it feel to be bested by a woman?” Goose, her copilot, teased. “Gotta be rough on the ego.” “Nah, real men don’t have inflated egos.” Vince wiggled his bottle, signaling the waitress to bring another round. “Says the man with the two-hundred megawatt ego.” She wrapped her lips around the rim of her bottle. What Vince wouldn’t give to have those lips wrapped around his cock. “I’m still trying to figure out how you even found a helmet large enough to fit your over-sized noggin.” Samuels slapped his beer onto the table. “Fuck the helmet. I want to know where the major general found a cockpit big enough for his head.” Another circle of laughter surrounded him. “You do know men with big egos have cocks to match.” “Wait a second. Didn’t you just tell me and the guys you didn’t have an ego?” Her eyes swam with laughter, her excitement and happiness contagious. Wilson stood and made a few obscene gestures with his pelvis. “Ryan’s got you there, man.” The new tray of beers arrived, and Vince rose and held his bottle out. “Seriously. I want to wish Ryan the best in her new position as pilot of the XH8 prototype. You kicked my flying ass out there, and no one deserves the honor more than you, Chief.” He clinked his bottle to hers. “Bottoms up.” The rest of the crew tapped their bottles together and downed their brews. The group’s trash- talk grew loud and, for the most part, obnoxious, but damn if he wasn’t going to miss working with them. Even with the constant boner he carried around her, he’d miss her, too. Hell, he’d miss her the most. She stood, still clutching her bottle. “Thank you, flyboy, for your kind words. They touched me right here.” She tapped her bottle over her heart. “Even if they were total bullshit.” More laughing. “You were neck and neck with me throughout The Challenge. Picking a winner had to have been a toss-up, I’m sure. And unfortunately in the end, the committee went with the better-looking competitor…me.” “Having my ass beat by a beautiful woman sounds pretty kinky to me, Ryan.” He wiggled his brows at Ellie. “We all know the pilot with the biggest set of balls won The Challenge.” Wilson raised his bottle. “But I think we’re gonna miss you, Corelli.” “Like a bad STD,” Sammy added. The men were full of jokes tonight. “Thanks, Ryan, and everyone else. Your insults tonight have touched me deeply. I’ve never felt so loved. If I can ever do a favor for any of you, don’t fucking call me. I screen my calls.” He took a swig from his bottle. “What the fuck. I’m gonna block all your numbers.”
Teri Riggs was destined to be a writer. As a small girl she didn’t read bedtime stories, she made up her own. Who needed Little Red Riding Hood or The Three Little Pigs when there were so many great tales bouncing around in her head? When she grew up and became a mother to three little girls, she continued the tradition of making up bedtime stories. On the occasions she chose to tell conventional fairytales, Teri usually gave them a bit of tweaking here and there or added a new ending. Her girls loved it.
After her daughters had the nerve to actually grow up and leave home, Teri discovered she had a passion for writing and jumped right in. It came as no surprise she chose to write mysteries and happily-ever-after’s since that’s the genres she loves to read. Teri lives in Marietta, Georgia with her husband, one of her daughters and two dogs that seem to think they rule the world. And some days Teri thinks maybe they do. Teri still frequently tells herself stories as she falls asleep. The only difference now is she wakes up the next morning and turns her bedtime stories into books. Love Between the Covers
A Documentary Film Written, Produced & Directed by: Laurie Kahn Releasing July 12th, 2016 Distributed by: The Orchard Love stories are universal. Love stories are powerful. And so are the women who write them. Love Between the Covers is the fascinating story of the vast, funny, and savvy female community that has built a powerhouse industry sharing love stories. Romance fiction is sold in 34 languages on six continents, and the genre grosses more than a billion dollars a year -- outselling mystery, sci-fi, and fantasy combined. Yet the millions of voracious women (and sometimes men) who read, write, and love romance novels have remained oddly invisible. Until now. For three years, we follow the lives of five very diverse published romance authors and one unpublished newbie as they build their businesses, find and lose loved ones, cope with a tsunami of change in publishing, and earn a living doing what they love—while empowering others to do the same. Romance authors have built a fandom unlike all others, a global sisterhood where authors know their readers personally and help them become writers themselves. During the three years we’ve been shooting Love Between the Covers, we have witnessed the biggest power shift that has taken place in the publishing industry over the last 200 years. And it’s the romance authors who are on the front lines, pioneering new ways to survive and build communities in this rapidly changing environment.
Q&A with Laurie Kahn, writer, producer and director
Please give us your description of the film playing. While romance novels and their signature covers are ubiquitous around the world, the global community of millions of women who read, write, and love them remains oddly invisible. Love Between the Covers is the fascinating story of five very different authors who invite us into a vast female community that’s running a billion dollar industry on the cusp of an irreversible power shift. In Love Between the Covers, we enter one of the few places where female characters are always center stage, where justice prevails in every book, where women win what they want, and the broad spectrum of desires of women from all backgrounds are not feared, but explored unapologetically. What drew you to this story? I want to bring the lives and work of compelling women to the screen, because any industry dominated by women is typically dismissed as trivial and “merely domestic.” My previous films -- A Midwife’s Tale and Tupperware! – are very different from one another, but they were both shaped by my desire to look honestly at communities of women who haven’t been taken seriously (but should be), who deserve to be heard without being mocked. What was the biggest challenge in making the film? Two things really. Raising the money (isn't that always the case?). And figuring out how to structure the film. Love Between the Covers is more than the story of five characters; it is the story of an unrecognized global community. Structuring this film was even harder than structuring a film with five characters (which is a difficult task in and of itself!). We finally found a solution in the editing room. What do you want people to think about when they are leaving the theatre? I want people to realize how deeply ingrained we all are in dismissing anything that is by women, for women and about women. Many romance readers told me stories of complete strangers looking over their shoulders on a train, or at the beach, leaning over and asking them, "Why do you read that trash?" I really don't think that would happen to someone reading a mystery or a thriller! Romance novels are dismissed as simplistic. People who've never read a romance novel tell me, "They are formulaic. They all end happily." But all genre fiction ends with a happy ending. Mysteries all begin with a crime and end with the case solved -- a guaranteed happy ending. Arnold Schwarzenegger is never killed in his movies. The good guys always win. So why are romances singled out? I think it has to do with a devaluation of women's work and a deep-seated fear of women's desires. What's the biggest misconception about you and your work? People tend to dismiss my ideas as fluffy. When they see the finished films, they realize the topics are not fluffy How did you get your film funded? (Is it a studio film, a crowdsourced film, somewhere in between?) Share some insights into how you got the film made. I started out with development funding from Mass Humanities, the Romance Writers of America, and the Nora Roberts Foundation. I then raised more than my $50K goal in a Kickstarter campaign (I raised $58K). That allowed me to start shooting. Most of my production funding came from the National Endowment for the Humanities. And several foundations and dozens of individuals came through for me at the end when I needed to pay for music rights, do our sound mix and color correction. Believe it or not, Love Between the Covers and the larger Popular Romance Project it's part of have been attacked in the US Congress. Senator Coburn railed about the project in the US Senate, insisting it was silly and trivial. And Rep. Salmon introduced a bill in the US House of Representatives (H.R. 5155 - see attached), to kill this project! Fortunately, the bill didn't pass! **Originally from: Indiewire – Women & Hollywood – Interview by Laura Berger http://blogs.indiewire.com/womenandhollywood/hot-docs-2015-women-directors-meet-laurie-kahn-love-between-the-covers-20150424

The Promise He Made Her
(Where Secrets are Safe #9) by Tara Taylor Quinn Adult Contemporary Romance Mass Market Paperback & ebook 384 pages July 1st 2016 by Harlequin Superromance
A man of his word
Dr. Bloom Freelander thought it was safe to breathe again when Detective Sam Larson put her abusive ex away for good. She's been moving on, running a private practice and providing psychiatry services to The Lemonade Stand women's shelter. But now that her ex is a free man, she's in danger once again. Forced into protective custody, Bloom can't help but fall for her protector. But she has every reason to doubt the handsome detective's word. Sam broke his promise to her once. Who says he won't break it again—along with her heart this time?
A heartfelt and poignant story with serious issues handled with care, yet in a raw and lifelike matter.
Bloom's life hasn't been easy, her superior intelligence seems to have brought more negative aspects into her life, than blessings. But she is a survivor, strong and capable, and has finally found a place in her life where she has balance, happiness, and stability. Until her ex-husband gets out of prison. I was pulled into the story from the start. The intriguing way the plot was introduced, with small pieces of information at the time, cleverly pulled me into the tale, and took a hold, keeping me up at night until 'the end'. The present danger and threat constantly escalating, while Bloom's story of survival is revealed, gives the tale an intense atmosphere of urgency. The sexual tension between Sam and Bloom add to the pressure, their growing feeling towards each other seems at times more of a hindrance than delight. The story is a clever mix of tragedy, suspense, and romance with the themes tied together seamlessly, all part of the bigger picture. The complex cast of characters are charming, warm, and sincere, they are likable and easy to relate to, to understand and agree with, the force that moves the story forward. A puzzling and gripping plot in a captivating and thrilling tale, with strong characters, and fragile romance gives an enticing novel indeed ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Carnal Whispers: Mind Stalker
Carnal Series #3 By: Reily Garret Releasing July 11, 2016 Self-Published
To delve into another’s mind is to revel in the depths of truth, cringe in the face of past and imagined horrors, and suffer their dreams, all while searching for balance and serenity.
Daniele is a mysterious, gentle, and loyal young woman harboring knowledge capable of destroying millions. Thumbing her nose at fate, she hides in plain sight while concealing her extraordinary talent, enduring isolation despite her fantasies of a normal life. Marc, owner of the BDSM club, Ambrosia, is determined to protect the elusive beauty stalked by a psychopathic killer. Hidden underneath her vulnerability, he senses a courage and determination forged from horrific circumstances. While adapting unique scenes to free her from fear and low self-esteem, he strives to stay one step ahead of a branch of the government answering to no one. Each must rely on the other to survive a world where betrayal and deception, desire and trust, weave a fabric that threatens their sanity.
Pushing open the door on the far right granted a jaw-dropping view framed by French doors and more large windows. Beyond the sand dunes, an offshore breeze stirred dazzling white caps as far as the eye could see. Each wave’s backwash created filaments that floated on restless air currents above tumultuous waters. Waking up to a salty breeze, all cuddled up with Marc Crofton, would star in her dreams for many nights to come.
A massive, ornate iron headboard stood against the far wall. Woodsmen style bedspread and soft, satin sheets covering the king-size bed with storage cabinets underneath provided the perfect stage for exciting nighttime activities. Surely, the occupants rarely slept. Her life, like the cottage she’d occupied, remained Spartan and utilitarian, unlike this room designed for a man with particular tastes and who could afford the best. When Pete nudged her forward, she choked on the images flashing through her mind on a continuous, lascivious reel of orgiastic play. Both headboard and footboard contained vertical iron spindles in their grills, perfect for bondage. Would Marc use silken scarves or fur-lined handcuffs? Several steps in, she stumbled over a plush rug of geometric shapes in neutral shades, thicker than anything she’d ever felt. Ambient light reflecting off the mirror on the tray ceiling dared her to move forward as she envisioned herself bound and at Marc’s mercy. More pieces fell into place as her gaze took in the leather vest and pants hanging from a hook beside the closet, mirrored sliding closet doors hiding untold devices, and deep storage drawers under the mattress. The entire scene left her speechless. Yet, she should have expected it all. He owned Ambrosia, a BDSM club, and this was an extension of sorts. The darkest fantasies in the farthest reaches of her mind couldn’t conjure such a rich, luxuriant setting tailor-made for any depravity conjured. How long she stood there, she didn't know. Soft footfalls announced his advance and jarred her mind even if her feet couldn’t budge. It wouldn’t do to have him witness her gawking like a star-struck kid. No wonder he unnerves me. With a few toys added, this would be the perfect stage for a theme room at his club according to her erotic romances. Refolding the blankets let her size them for the injured shepherd. In hurried motions, she arranged a comfortable bed in the corner. “Hey, looks good. Thanks. Do you mind bringing in his water bowl?” His tongue sliding along his bottom lip was captivating yet devastating, like being flogged and discovering you’re a masochist, though she wasn’t. Was she? Despite holding Darius in his arms, the combination of potent virility and standing in what she imagined to be a well-used bedroom stretched her nerves beyond capacity to think clearly. “S-sure. Be right back.” The soft tilting of his lips on one side defined her entire focus as she staggered back, turned, and stumbled away. Grateful for the tall ceilings allowing more air to circulate, she plucked at her shirt to fan the heat from her chest. Claustrophobia wasn’t an issue in the great room without Marc’s presence. Two ceramic bowls sat on either side of the kitchen’s alcove, one blue with black paw prints, and the other green with black paw prints. Each had a chew bone and ball beside it. Maybe those leathers were for horseback riding… The chew toy and rubber ball slipped from her grasp twice before she’d secured it along with the blue and black dish. Filling the bowl only two-thirds full ensured she wouldn’t spill as she carefully made her way back to his bedroom, probably the last place she should go. Jeez, he owns Ambrosia, for God's sake. What the hell do you think he rides? “Here we go.” Setting the bowl in front of a groggy Darius, she groaned as a little water sloshed over the sides. She couldn't resist a slow caress of his soft coat after setting his bone and rubber ball beside the bed within easy reach. “I'm so sorry you got hurt, boy.” When she stood and pivoted, Marc loomed over her, his overwhelming presence knocking her off balance both mentally and physically. “I brought his rubber ball.” “Yes, I see.” He took a small step forward, a few scant inches separating them. Again, his infuriating smile let her know he realized and exploited his arousing effect. “Y-you don't give them tennis balls. I'm glad…because the felt is extremely abrasive on their teeth. It contains a glue…” How can the room lack oxygen? “Yes. It does.” A half step. Only her quickening breaths separated them. His predator’s smile widened. “I-I've seen canine teeth worn down to nubs before the owners got a clue. They worry and wonder but don't bring the dogs in to figure out what's causing it.” “Yep, I believe it.” His warm breath fanned across her cheek, minty from the candy he seemed to favor. They shared the same space, the same air, intimate in a way previously unknown. “I…I'm glad you take good care of your ball, ah, your dogs.” “I always take care of what's mine.” His gaze could command the very devil himself. So why did her gaze keep returning to him, like a moth playing with fire? She gulped, looking around frantically for an escape. His close proximity blocked out everything, including her ability to think or decipher anything other than the intense hunger disseminating from him in waves. Maybe spontaneous orgasms aren’t a myth.
Reily’s employment as an ICU nurse, private investigator, and work in the military police has given her countless experiences in a host of different environments to add a real world feel to her fiction.
