This story is a conspiracy theorist's dream.
It is severely intense, from the very beginning it is spellbinding with its tension, riveting with the palpable fear, and the possibilities of the unimaginable terror that keeps constantly playing at the edge of the mind while reading... Oh my. The tale has a smooth flow, it has chemistry, it has intriguing characters, plenty of action and suspense, the again -- intensity, the power of this story is in its intensive and impressive fierceness. And I like the small town vibe the story has, how they all stand together for one of their own. As the story was unfolding I was fascinated to see how the organization and people behind it would give themselves out, how the plot would play out, what was going to happen, who was going to survive... The story took hold of me from the very first scene and kept it, and I'm looking forward to more in the next installment of this fiery series. Would I have wished there was more romance -- yes, but the story between Tanner Dempsey and Bree Daniels will continue to develop from here through the four books of the series. The only constant throughout the series is the couple, the trouble they face and the crimes they solve are new in each book, so no cliffhangers. The chemistry between them was hot, the connection was believable and the interest to learn more about their journey, and watch them grow in their relationship is definitely there, high, and arising. For the first time, while reading a suspense story, I didn't even stop to wonder if everything that was happening was believable or not. There was no need to, since the story was moving forward with such potent, compelling speed, that I didn't care to wonder about anything, just holding on to my seat to stay on the wild ride. It was fast, entertaining, edgy, and even a bit adorable and ardent, filled with twists, and the awareness level dial set to the maximum so that I might now be slightly paranoid myself, too. Delightfully vigorous suspense and a marvelous start of an epic love story delivering pure unputdownable entertainment! ~ Five Spoons!

A riveting and touching conclusion to the murder mystery romantic suspense trilogy that captured my mind.
There is so much to enjoy about this series, the ardent romance stories, the intense suspense, the small town atmosphere, the high school where some of the characters were involved in, shortly put the author has created a world where it was a pleasure to linger, even with the murders happening in the center of the tales. Sarah Lomax and Jack Cash have the kind of keen, straight forward and honest connection and attraction that always makes me smile. Jack is such an attractive man, his love for his sister's kids showing what kind of a man he is, and what his priorities are. He is as dedicated to his job as he is for his family. His kindness, considerate nature, and thoughtful actions won me over immediately. Sarah has a hereditary health concern that has shaped her life and the choices she has made and will continue to make in the future. With those choices, she showed such bravery, it blew me away. She could have made selfish decisions, yet she chose to deny her own desires of the kind of future her heart longed for. She is smart, with the kind of emotional intelligence I admire. She is kind, generous, and loving woman and Jack saw it all and chose to gently demolish the walls which she tried to hide behind. I have truly enjoyed this series, each story continuing the search for the killer, while solving other crimes, each book having their own romantic couple to focus on. This series has been entertaining, compelling, and heartwarming, as much as poignant, tense, and scary. With a bit shorter length books yet each fully packed with story, emotions, and events it is the perfect kind of summer reading that I can fully and gladly recommend to all readers. ~ Four Spoons

But when she meets a handsome, soulful man who’s also starting over, all bets are off. to reach a happily-ever-after Jackson McBride came to Redemption looking only to find himself, not someone to love. Ever since his marriage ended, he’s been bitter. Sure, he used to believe in love—he even has the old song lyrics to prove it—but the Jackson of today is all business. That is, until a beautiful young widow who’s moved to town inspires a change of heart. Could it be that the myth of Redemption’s healing magic is true…and Jackson and Caroline can find a second chance at a happy ending after all?
Chapter One
Nashville, Tennessee Bang. The judge’s gavel fell and officially crushed Jackson McBride’s heart. He closed his eyes. Bleak despair washed over him. Up until this very moment, he hadn’t believed she’d take it this far. He’d thought she’d come to her senses. He’d thought she would recognize that this proposal was not only nonsense, but truly insane. He’d believed that somewhere deep inside of her, she still had a spark of humanity. That she wouldn’t do this to him. To them. He’d been wrong. Damn her. Damn her and the yes-men she surrounded herself with. Damn them all to hell and back. The enormity of what had just happened washed over him. Oh, God, how will I survive this? On the heels of his anguish came the rage. It erupted hot as lava, and it fired his blood and blurred his vision with a red haze of fury. He’d never hit a woman in his life. Never come close, despite plenty of provocation from her direction. In that moment had she been within reach, he might have lived up her accusations. It scared the crap out of him. That’s what she’s brought me to. Abruptly, he shoved back his chair so hard that it teetered, almost falling over. He strode toward the courtroom exit. “Jackson? Jackson, wait!” his attorney called, hurrying after him. Jackson waved her off and didn’t stop. There was nothing left to be said. Nothing left to be done. No place left to go. No little girl waiting at home to hug and cuddle and kiss good night. The tap on the toes of Jackson’s boots clacked against the tile floor of the courthouse as his long-legged strides ate up the hallway. He shunned the elevator for the stairs and descended three flights at a rapid pace, then headed for the building’s exit. In a foolish bit of positive thinking, he’d driven his SUV to the courthouse this morning. Now the sight of the safety booster seat in the back seat made him want to kick a rock into next week. He didn’t want to go home to a quiet, empty house. He shouldn’t go to a bar. Alcohol on top of his current mood could be a dangerous combination. Somebody probably would get hurt. He got into the car and started the engine. For a long moment he sat unmoving, staring blindly through the windshield, his hands squeezing the steering wheel so hard that it should have cracked. When his phone rang, he ignored it. A couple of minutes later, it rang a second time. Again, he ignored it. When it happened a third time, he finally glanced at the display to see who was calling. His cousin. Okay, maybe he would answer it. “Hello, Boone.” “How did the hearing go?” Jackson couldn’t speak past the lump in his throat, so he said nothing. Following a moment’s silence, Boone got the message. He muttered a curse, and then said, “I’m sorry, man. So damn sorry.” “Well, it is what it is.” “You can take another run at it.” “Yeah.” In three years. Three years. Might as well be three decades. He cleared his throat and changed the subject. “So, how are things in Eternity Springs?” “Good. They’re good. My friend Celeste Blessing visited my office a few minutes ago and spoke of her granite-headed cousin. Naturally, I thought of you.” “Naturally,” Jackson dryly replied. But he felt a little less alone. “Do you have plans this weekend? I could use your help with something.” Pretty convenient timing. Knowing Boone, he had a spy in the courtroom. But Jackson wasn’t in the position to ignore the bone he’d been thrown. “I’m free. Whatcha got?” “I’d like you to meet me at home.” Jackson straightened in surprise. “You’re going back to the ranch?” “No. Not there. I’m never going back there. However, I am talking about Texas. The Hill Country in particular. A little town west of Austin called Redemption.” “Redemption, Texas?” Jackson repeated. For some weird reason, his heart gave a little skip. “Why there?” “It’s a long story. Too long for a phone call. I’ll give you the entire skinny when I see you. When can you get there?” After today’s debacle, Jackson had absolutely no reason to remain in Nashville. “When do you want me there?” “I’ll be in later today. I’m in Austin now. I’ve been helping a friend with a project. I have a flight back to Colorado Sunday evening. The earlier you can get here the better, but I’ll make anything work.” Jackson figured the distance and the drive time. “I’ll meet you tomorrow afternoon. Where?” “Great. I’ll text you the info when we hang up. Bring camping gear.” When a sound behind him had Jackson glancing up into the rearview mirror and the booster seat caught his notice, he made an instant decision. “Can’t. I’ll be on my bike.” “You’re gonna ride your motorcycle all the way from Nashville?” “Yes, I think I am.” “Okay. I’ll bring stuff for both of us.” Boone hesitated a moment and added, “Hang in there, Jackson. It’ll get better.” No, I don’t think it will. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Jackson ended the call and finally put his SUV in gear and backed out of the parking place. With the distraction of the call behind him, fury returned, and by the time he reached home, he felt like a volcano about to explode. He threw a handful of things into his tail bag, filled his wallet with cash from his stash, and ten minutes after his arrival, he fired up his bike and took his broken heart and headed out of Nashville. He left behind his home, his work, and his one reason for living, his six-year-old daughter, Haley. From Jackson. A sweet, inspirational women's fiction novel, where family, friends, and small town living are in the front and center of the tale, with second chances and new beginnings for the protagonists. The romance that is mentioned in the blurb does happen, but is on the background, more of an afterthought, that the main event.
This spin-off from the Eternity Springs series lies heavily on the foundation that was laid down in the previous series. The characters and families overlap somewhat, and the vibes of the Eternity Springs are there. The book Jackson is riddled with characters and keeping them all in line came to be a bit of a game to me, like the BYH game at the Thanksgiving table. Both Jackson and Caroline Carruthers are in desperate need of new beginnings and fresh starts. I detest the third-person drama in the romance novels and purposely skip the once I know that have it - considering Jackson's ex is a major part of the tale, and Caroline is married at the beginning of the book, I felt awkward through most of the story, all the way to the arrangement at the last chapter of the book... A major turn off for me, the situation, and the protagonist actions surrounding it. But, the romance between Jackson and Caroline, like I said earlier, is not the main storyline. Yet when it does start to happen way after the halfway mark, it is sweet in nature. The main focus was on Caroline and all the people of the town, the new life Caroline was starting with her new business. The plot is carried on mostly through conversations between people in Redemption, Texas. And I love a great dialog, that is tight and focused and takes the tale forward. Unnecessary ramblings, on the other hand, drive me batty. There is a lot of heartache and sorrow, loss in the story. Jackson's ex provides some angst-filled moment with her diva style demands, but there are also moments of joy and laughter, humor and adorably sweet reactions from Jackson's daughter. Celeste Blessing is there to provide some magical, divine moments, her foretelling eerie at times. I am not sure if this is 'not for me' or misplaced genre and/or a blurb that focus on just one aspect of the whole novel, or not for me because of those two factors, but I thought Jackson felt idle at times, with some elements that were no interest to me. Still, the epilogue gives a romantic conclusion, and I am sure the fans of Women's Fiction will enjoy the story. ~ Three Spoons
The novel has an apt name, cause once I opened up my mind and heart to the broken protagonists and their growing pains and process, it hit me to the core with the profound emotions and insights their story provides. The feels went from raw, crushed, humbled, to the tender, ardent, and adoration. There are so many subtle life lessons, inspirational moments, thoughts and perspectives to take home on multiple matters. The author didn't give the characters not one easy road out with their personal problems or with their family drama.
Yes, there is absolutely adorable, sweep your feet under you romance in the tale. And it is passionate, sizzling, heated, and intense. The love scenes are beautifully done and so well embedded into the plot, showing how the hero and heroine find their harmony with each other in a delightfully lovely way. But it is those deep, vulnerable, delicately honest conversations between the different characters that time and again blew my mind, had me reflecting on the insights and inspiration the scenes provided. Jamie Dodge at first seemed like a prickly, temperamental tomboy. She grew up as the youngest sibling with dominating older brothers and a father who didn't know what to do with a daughter. She lost her mother within days of being born, and the survival's quilt, and determination not to be the poor girl who lost her mother, she hides behind thick walls and abrasive behavior. Seeing her come to her true self, find her voice, and place, and purpose made me smile. Gabe Dalton has tried to balance his life between his parents temper tantrums and atoning their mistakes. Determined not to be like them, he seems to prove just the opposite. I admired and applauded his aspiration to make the world a little bit better place for those in need. His ideas and the big heart for those alone and hurting, in need of guidance, were admirable. Gabe with his broken soul and giving heart is just the person to understand Jamie. They connect on so many levels, it was marvelous to watch them get to know each other. There is that overpowering physical attraction, but also they are there for each other, they listen to each other and comfort the other when needed. I marveled this story and everything it had to offer, everything I got from it, with the feels, the inspiration, and the insights. The Gold Valley series has been like a string of pearls, each story filled with the perfection that comes after the emotions are let free and then grinded by life and polished by acceptance, respect, and love of the right person. The stories can be read as stand-alone books, but I wouldn't want to miss any one of them. ~ Five Spoons!

Title: High Risk
Author: Siena Noble Genre: Contemporary Romance
Caleb Martin. Lost prince of business royalty. The young airline mogul with a reputation for dominance in both the boardroom and the bedroom. But before he was worth billions, he was my first love, and my brother's best friend. We were supposed to grow old together... until a tragedy ripped us apart.
After six years I thought I'd finally moved on, but fate throws us together again. I try to tell myself he's just another client, futilely resisting the temptation to mix business with pleasure. But there's more than just our shared pain keeping us apart—lies and dark secrets that could destroy everything we've both build in the last six years. Giving in to temptation could ruin us... but is Caleb worth the risk?
“Promise me you’ll stay away from Kellan Wakeham,” he said bluntly, his voice low and surprisingly gruff.
A disbelieving laugh burst out of me. Was that all he had to say? “Well, it’s great to see you, too, Caleb. And thanks for the advice. Now if you’ll excuse me, I should—” “Dammit, Kiera, I mean it.” Caleb’s coarse interruption startled me into silence. “Steer clear of him. He’s dangerous.” I stared at him, gauging his seriousness, before chuckling humorlessly again. “Oh, is he? Let me guess, just like you are, right? Just another bad boy who’s bad news? Guess it’s nice to know that you do care after all, Mr. Martin.” I knew I was spoiling for a fight, even though I was already emotionally tapped out for the evening. But at that point, I would’ve done just about anything to provoke some kind of reaction out of him. “Baffled” wasn’t exactly the reaction I was expecting. “Kiera, how could you think…?” He looked at the floor with a sigh, shoving one hand into his pants pocket and scratching the back of his neck with the other. There was a glimpse of the Caleb I knew, the tender and vulnerable side behind the mask of the cold businessman. I watched his throat work as he swallowed, feeling a lump forming in my own. When he looked at me again his expression was wounded, and I felt it in my soul. “Jesus, Kiera, seeing you again after all this time, and seeing the way you just seemed so… unaffected…” He paused, then asked in a raw whisper, “Do you hate, me, Kiera?” He thought I’d seemed unaffected by our meeting? He thought I hated him? Words failed me. A small, petty part of me was relieved to know I wasn’t the only one reeling from our unconventional reunion. But that small part was quickly drowned out by guilt. Maybe I really was turning into the ice queen that half my coworkers thought of me as. The idea that Caleb thought I might hate him made me sick. I’d been angry with him, yes, and hurt beyond belief that he’d pushed me away with both hands when we’d needed each other the most. I’d had over six years for that bitterness inside me to fester. But I’d also grown up enough in that time that I could admit to myself that when he’d lashed out in his grief, I’d lashed right back. It wasn’t all on him. “I could never hate you, Caleb,” I said softly. “And I never meant for you to think that I did. I’m so sorry. But when I saw you on Tuesday… to me, you were the one acting cold. And I know it was a business meeting, and maybe neither one of us knew how to react…” I trailed off. My hostility was fading rapidly, but there was still so much I wanted to say to him that I couldn’t put into words, things I still felt he needed to answer for. What kind of bad blood did he have with his cousin? How did he just so happen to end up in the lounge while I was there? Why was he even here tonight? But above all else, what did he expect from me, and where the hell did we go from here?

The Angel and the SEAL
The Mystery Angel Romances Book 3 by Petie McCarty Genre: Cozy Mystery, Romantic Suspense Publisher: Soul Mate Publishing, LLC Publication Date: June 5, 2019
The Angel and the SEAL . . . a cozy mystery with romantic suspense from the Mystery Angel Romances series. An angel hidden in every book waiting for you to figure out who . . .
Navy SEAL Sean MacKay's teammate is murdered after stealing a deadly nerve-gas formula from Syrian terrorists. Naval Intelligence believes MacKay's teammate was a traitor and shipped the stolen formula to his sister in the states for safekeeping. MacKay is given orders to find the sister before the terrorists do and to retrieve the stolen formula at all costs. Foreclosure looms for Cory Rigatero as she fights to keep her rustic resort near Mt. St. Helens afloat after her brother deserted her to join the SEAL Teams. Cory's whole world dives into a tailspin when Sean MacKay shows up at her resort with the news of her brother's death and the wild suspicion her brother may have sent her traitorous classified documents. No way will Cory trust MacKay—the man who once seduced her and then vanished into the night without a trace.
“Why did I let you talk me into this?” Cory asked as Sarah George wheeled her Honda into the parking lot at Opie’s Tavern on Friday night.
Sarah had been Cory’s best friend since grade school and the complete antithesis to Cory: curvy where Cory was slender, short where Cory was tall, blonde where Cory was a brunette, rough curls to Cory’s straight silk. And right now, her best friend stared at her, an appalled expression clearly visible in the lights from the parking lot. “You need to get out more,” Sarah informed her, “especially after the day you’ve had.” “Tell me about it.” Cory’s headache was still trying to fight past the ibuprofen she had taken after the evidence techs had finally departed. Dane dispatched his techs as soon as he got back to town with orders to go over the rental building where the kayaks were stored. No chance of fingerprints on the kayaks after their extended submersion in the lake. “I still can’t believe someone would sabotage your kayaks.” Cory sighed heavily. “Me either.” “Which is why I dragged you out tonight. Plus, we haven’t been out together in weeks. You can’t spend all your time working at that resort. Which reminds me, does poor Garth always howl like that when you lock him in the house?” Cory laughed. “Only when Vern and Cook are both gone for the evening too. Remember, I got him as a rescue, and I think he suffers from separation anxiety.” “What about your new employee? Couldn’t he watch Garth?” Cory shook her head. “I heard Mac leave around sunset. Took off on his motorcycle.” “Maybe he’s here,” Sarah suggested hopefully. Cory sighed. Her friend hated for Cory to keep secrets, and right now, Mac was a big one since she knew little or nothing about him and hired him anyway. She couldn’t explain to Sarah how she felt as though she’d known Mac for years rather than days. She couldn’t even explain it to herself. The two of them had worked side by side almost the entire day. Whatever job she had, Mac had appeared whenever she needed him. The help had started with the bags of mulch she was loading into a small wagon in the barn. Cory had hooked the wagon to the smaller John Deere riding tractor, intending to start at Lucky’s cabin and remulch the flower beds now that the tulip and daffodil bulbs were coming up. She hoisted the first of the two-cubic-foot bags into the wagon and bent over to pick up another. Muscular arms closed over hers and around the bag. “Let me get that for you.” Mac’s face appeared at her shoulder, his cheek close enough that if she moved her lips a very few inches, she could press a kiss there. Now where did that thought come from? Easy, girl. The rich smell of man, out-of-doors, and a hint of the morning’s after-shave had wafted over her and had her thinking sensual thoughts, like cheek-smooching. Okay, way more sensual than just cheeks, she thought, as her gaze zeroed in on sexy lips made for kissing. Lips so full and so soft and so noticeable even when surrounded by the close-clipped dark beard. Lips that easily curved into a killer smile capable of stealing her breath away. Lips like that had to be made for kissing. His eyes studied hers intently. Dear Lord, don’t let this man read my thoughts. They’d set his hair on fire. As though he had heard, the noticeably sexy lips curved into the aforementioned breath-stealing smile. Kiss me. Please, kiss me. The wayward thought made her gasp in surprise. He shifted back a few inches. “It’s okay. I’ve got it.” Great. He’d heard. How embarrassing. She had gasped like an adolescent teen. He straightened and gathered the mulch bag into his arms, then dropped it into the wagon. “These are too heavy for you.” “Not really. I’d have to load them if you weren’t here.” “But I am here. His voice had gone husky, and her skin tingled. He was only inches away again. When had he moved? So quick, so silent. His predatory-blue eyes trained on her, skimming over her face—over her—as though memorizing the way she looked. Or did he search for answers to unasked questions? Her pulse rioted. Her palms grew clammy. Mac leaned closer. She held her breath. “I . . .” He hesitated. What? Tell me. Tell me or kiss me. One or the other. He cleared his throat. “I want to thank you for the job.” The pent-up air whooshed out of her disappointed lungs as he bent down to grab another mulch bag. What had just happened? She had almost kissed her new temporary laborer in the barn on his second day of work. That was nuts. So why did it feel so right?

Sam's time in Magnolia Sound has an expiration date and Shelby's not sure she's the kind of girl who can be just another one of his flings. But Sam's ready to make some changes. And a girl like her is just who he needs. She was so bad at figuring men out, she thought miserably. “I want to say no, but…” She yawned again. “Sorry.” “It’s okay, Shelby.” Standing up, Sam reached down for her hand and gently pulled her to her feet. “Can I see you tomorrow?” Frowning, she looked up at him. “You mean to hang out again?” His dark eyes blinked at her several times as if not understanding her question. “Um…I was hoping to take you out properly – dinner and whatever else it is you might like to do. Other than sailing, you never really answered my question that night.” Taking a step back, now it was Shelby who didn’t seem to get it. “Why do you want to take me to dinner? We…we hung out tonight and…there’s no hard feelings. I mean, I’m still sorry for not being honest with you the night we met, but…don’t feel like you need to keep hanging out with me.” The fierce look from earlier was back as he took a step toward her. “Are we back to that again? Why exactly do you think I’m here, Shelby?” he asked, frustration practically bristling off of him. “I…like I said…I figured we were just hanging out to…you know…talk things out. And we have.” Hopefully he couldn’t see her slight tremble. She wasn’t used to someone questioning her like this. But then again, she wasn’t used to dealing with anyone quite like Sam. He took another step toward her. “Is that why you agreed to let me come over? Because you needed to clear your conscience? Or thought that I needed to?” “Um…I don’t know. Maybe.” Another step toward her. “You want to know why I’m here?” He didn’t wait for her to respond. “I’m here because for two damn weeks you’ve been all I can think about. Seeing you earlier in the library parking lot had me feeling like I won the damn lottery – like I was getting a second chance with you!” Another step and now he towered over her. “But more than anything, I’m here because you’re someone I want to know better, dammit!” “Sam, I…” “But if that’s not what you want – if I’m not someone you want to know – then say something right now, Shelby,” he demanded. “Right now, before my feelings grow even deeper. Because believe it or not, what I felt for you that night at the bar is nothing compared to how I feel right now.” She gasped softly and her foolish heart began its wild dance again. Swallowing hard, she looked up at him – saw the sincerity and the anguish in those dark depths. “I…” She paused and collected her thoughts which were going a million miles a minute in her head. “How do you feel?” It was something she needed to know. It was one thing if he was casually interested in her – which was what she expected him to say. But what if it were more? What if it were something deep and warm and wonderful and scary and everything she was feeling too? Reaching out, Sam cupped her face in his hands and rested his forehead against hers. “I feel like you’re someone I need to know.” His voice was low and gruff and rumbly enough that she felt it all the way down to her toes. How could she possibly explain to him that she was too afraid to believe him? That she didn’t have the confidence in herself to believe him? As if sensing her thoughts, he quietly said, “You’ve been brutally honest with me all night, Shelby. Don’t stop now. Tell me what you’re thinking.” There really was something about Sam that made her feel like she could say anything – even if she shouldn’t. “I guess I’m afraid to believe that you really want to get to know me,” she admitted softly. “I’m nothing special, Sam. I’m not the type of girl you usually…” He placed one finger across her lips to stop her flow of words. “Please don’t keep throwing that back in my face.” He closed his eyes as if in pain. “I know I’ve done a lot of stupid things and I’ve made a lot of bad choices, but that has nothing to do with you and me. When I saw you that night, all I remember thinking was…finally, there she is.” Her eyes went wide at the intensity of his words. No one had ever said anything like that to her before. She wasn’t the kind of girl or woman who caused that kind of reaction – she knew that and she was okay with it. But after seeing the look on Sam’s face as he spoke, Shelby knew she had to have more – needed to see where this went and what would come from an admission like his. “Wow,” she whispered, because it’s all she could force herself to say. The smile Sam gave her was one of sweet relief. Unable to help herself, she placed her hand on his chest, and, feeling his rapid heartbeat, she grew bold. Her hand smoothed up and over his shoulder and then raked up into his hair. Up on her tiptoes, she pressed her lips to his and prayed she wouldn’t panic or freak out again. When his arms slowly banded around her waist, Shelby knew this time was different. He was being cautious and careful and, undoubtedly, holding back so he didn’t spook her. The kiss was chaste – slow and sweet. Only this time, she was the one to seek more. Her tongue tentatively reached out and skimmed along his bottom lip and she heard his sharp intake of breath. It made her bold. Pressing herself more firmly against him, she reveled in the feel of his warm, hard body. And when he maneuvered them back over the sofa, she felt her excitement grow. Sam sat and gently guided Shelby down so he could cradle her in his lap and, if anything, she thought it was the perfect position for them. His arms were around her, holding her securely to him, all the while their kiss just continued. There wasn’t the same intensity as there was the night they met, and that was more than okay with her. She was enjoying this – the way they were slowly getting acquainted with each another. Squirming slightly against him, she gulped for air when Sam broke the kiss and gazed at her face. His breath was coming just as raggedly as hers and she wished more than anything that she didn’t need oxygen quite so much because she already missed the feel of his mouth on hers. One of his hands came up and took the clip out of her hair. She let out a small moan of pleasure because it had been bothering her all night, but when that same hand anchored up into her hair and began massaging her scalp, it felt like she had died and gone to heaven. Good lord, if a three-second scalp massage feels this good, what would sex with him be like? Hopefully she’d find out. Diving in for another kiss, Shelby was pleasantly surprised that Sam seemed just as anxious as she was for another taste. She twisted and turned in his lap until she was straddling him and it was like she didn’t even recognize herself. She wasn’t normally this forward or – dare she say, aggressive? – but there was no way for her to fight what she was feeling. For two weeks she had kicked herself every day for running like she did and now that she was getting a second chance, she was taking it. With everything she had, apparently. They kissed, they rolled over and stretched out on the sofa until Sam was on top of her and Shelby wrapped herself completely around him. So many times she thought to break their kiss and simply ask him to stay – to move things into the bedroom – but his hands and mouth kept distracting her until she didn’t know her own name, let alone where they were half the time. At some point – it could have been minutes later, it could have been hours – Sam raised his head and smiled down at her. He was so handsome, so sexy, so…everything she ever fantasized about…and he was here with her. “Shelby,” he said, low and thick. “Damn.” Yeah. She knew exactly what he meant. Her hand smoothed up his back and up into his hair in hopes of guiding his mouth back to hers, but…he moved. He stood. She stayed where she was on the sofa and looked up at him in confusion. “I should go,” he said after a long moment. “Go?” He nodded. “Dinner tomorrow night, right?” He was leaving? Now? Seriously? “Um…” Doing a move that was clearly becoming his thing, Sam reached for her hand and gently pulled her to her feet. He kissed her one last time on the lips before letting out a low growl. Clearing his throat, he said, “You know how badly I want to stay, right?” Shelby nodded and wanted to say she felt the same, but she couldn’t seem to make her voice work. He hugged her tight. “But I don’t think it’s the right thing to do,” he said, and her only consolation was that he sounded as miserable about it as she felt. “Let me take you out tomorrow.” He pulled back and studied her face. “I want to do this right. I feel like I came on too strong that night and…and I’m not willing to do anything that you might regret.” Well, damn. He was sweet, sexy, funny, and considerate? How was she supposed to resist? “That night…that was my own issue, Sam. It wasn’t about you. Not really. I want you to know that.” With a lopsided grin, he pulled her back into his embrace. “Thank you for saying that.” “It’s the truth.” Slowly they broke apart and walked over to the front door. He opened it and kissed her one more time. “You are pure temptation. You know that, right?” Blushing, she shook her head. “It’s true.” Tucking a finger under her chin, his expression turned serious. “Thank you for inviting me over and for giving me another chance. I’ll pick you up tomorrow at seven. Will that work?” He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone so they could exchange numbers. Once that was done, he kissed her one last time and walked out the door. And Shelby swore part of her heart went with him.

An Intriguing and grave adventure across the lands and oceans. A life-threatening fight against the evil powers, to save the world from the Saint, even if the price is your life.
I actually thought I had read the previous books in the series, but soon came into a realization that I had not. Yet I didn't feel like that was a problem to be able to follow what was going on in The Defender, how they came out to be in the current situation was well outlined. And the situation is rather different from the norm I am used to reading, when the person I should consider the hero, Lev Ivanski, is a Russian mob captain, second to the leader. At any point, while running for their lives, is Lev's criminal lifestyle discussed. His boss, the mobster himself, is referred to as a good-hearted man, though, and that itself sounded like an oxymoron. Reyna Harris is a smart, talented lady who studied linguistics and had worked years as a CIA operative. She immediately connected with Lev, and their team effort to escape within their lives was seamless, even harmonious, as despite their lifestyles and history, nearly immediately trusted one other. I liked the chemistry between Lev and Reyna, it seemed genuine and true. It definitely was the highlight of the tale for me, how they opened up to each other like peeling off layers of their souls. The passion between them was ardent, the love scenes detailed yet tastefully done. Both Reyna and Lev seemed ageless, looking at their history and what they had accomplished in their lives putting them much further up in an age in my mind that they seemed to be in the story. The escape through mainland Europe to Sweden and across Norway had me going back and forth several times, cause the timeline didn't seem to match what a native to this area knows to be true. I tried to let that go, as well as some cultural differences that were overlooked, but then there was the fact that everything seems to point out that the attempted escape is happening during summertime, yet there are mentions of nighttime darkness, and dawn, and - no. Basic knowledge of the Nordic: it does not get dark at all during the summer, the white nights are real. When reading an eARC you never know if the plot holes and mistakes are later on fixed before the book reaches the stores, thus I try not to let that kind of things get to me, and I try to set the focus on the main storyline, not nitpick the details, unless they scream at you. And I think the overall story of The Defender is a good one, it was engaging, I wanted to know what happens, who will survive, how will their survive, and how do they continue to live from here, if they are still alive. The action is brutal, lethal, and savage. The characters, many of whom get their own spotlight in the story, a chance to tell their point of view of the events (in the third person) are an engrossing group of people. The story underlines that no person is ultimately all bad or all good, there are several sides to each of them, shadows and secrets following all the characters, yet not overpowering them. I was immersed in the tale, it got my emotions engaged, and even though at times I was yelling at the book (!) there never was a moment that thought I DNF it, I needed to know, I was hooked, all the way to the explosive end. ~ Three Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Discover the magic of New York Times bestseller Melissa Foster's writing, and see why millions of readers have fallen in love with the Bradens.
In WILD, CRAZY HEARTS... Brindle Montgomery and Trace Jericho have been close friends forever and on-again off-again lovers for years. As rebellious as they are stubborn, they're both perfectly happy with their no-strings-attached hookups. But when Brindle returns from a trip to Paris with a baby bump, it sends Trace's wild, crazy heart into a frenzy--and Brindle is left wondering if she's made the biggest mistake of her life. ** The Bradens & Montgomerys are part of New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Melissa Foster's Love in Bloom big-family romance collection. Love in Bloom novels feature alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They're flawed, funny, passionate, and relatable to readers who enjoy contemporary romance and women's fiction. These novels are written to stand alone or may be enjoyed as part of the larger series, so dive right into this fun, sexy romance. There were certain benefits to being the youngest girl in a family with seven children, such as the fact that by the time Brindle Montgomery could walk, her older siblings had already done so much crazy, stupid shit, nothing surprised their parents. When Brindle hit her teens, Sable—the third oldest, and until Brindle had come along, the most rebellious—had left no troublesome stone unturned. Brindle had always done as she pleased, and she believed in living life to the fullest. That was why, when she scheduled a six-week trip to Paris, no one had given it a second thought. Finding out she was pregnant a week after arriving had complicated things, and she’d extended her stay to try to figure out her life. Though she hadn’t told her family why she was staying, they weren’t surprised by her change of plans. Now here she was, three and a half months later, counting on those skewed expectations. She didn’t think her pregnancy would come as too big of a shock to anyone. Well, anyone other than her on-again off-again boyfriend of a dozen years, Trace Jericho. As she stepped from her car after the longest travel day ever, she began questioning her decision to come straight from the airport to the barn bash the Jerichos threw every year for Halloween. But it was rare to get all of her siblings in the same place at the same time. They were all there for the event, as was Trace, which meant she could deliver her news in one fell swoop. She’d convinced herself they’d rally around her, supporting her decision and taking it all in stride. Now she called bullshit on all of that. But her situation wasn’t going to change, and she needed to face her future head-on. She straightened her spine, shoved her keys in her coat pocket, and headed across the field toward the barn. Children darted around adults, who were busy mingling. Just beyond, strings of black and orange lights illuminated the massive barn, which was decorated with scarecrows, ghosts, ghouls, and gauzy fake spiderwebs. It was a typical Oak Falls affair, one that Brindle usually looked forward to. But as she weaved through the crowd, her thoughts turned to Trace and the reason she’d gone away in the first place. She’d loved him for so long, she couldn’t think clearly when she was around him, and she was at a point where her feelings had grown so big, she needed to know if they were real. But their relationship was complicated, with as much turmoil as pleasure. And oh, what pleasure Trace Jericho could bring! But relationshipwasn’t the best definition of what they had, since neither one had ever wanted a long-term commitment. Or at least that’s what she’d always thought.

COVERING ALL THE BASES by Jody Holford

Talk about a wild day... As if being summoned to the deathbed of a grandfather she didn’t know existed wasn’t enough––Isla Bennett meets the man of her dreams. Spends an amazing day playing tourist around Nashville with him. And then finds out she’s inherited the Nashville Slammers major league baseball team. Oh, and her new dream man? He’s the Slammers’ star power hitter. Isla just went from amazing first date to holy heck I’m your boss in the span of a day.
Liam Cruz can’t believe how refreshing it was to spend a day with someone who didn’t know his batting average, the size of his last contract, or heck, even that he’s a baseball player. Now Isla’s thrust into the spotlight, and though she’s more than capable of handling herself professionally, he takes it upon himself to teach her everything he can about the game that is his whole life. But they’ll have to keep it on the DL. Because doing what’s best for the team means they can never be together––and that might be the toughest play of all. His broad shoulders and short cropped hair made him look a little dangerous and a whole lot capable. Of many things. “What’s going on in that head of yours, Red?” He tugged on a lock of her hair and gave her a smile that shot fireworks through her blood. “I was just thinking that I don’t want to waste the day or two I have here thinking about my brother, my dad, or anything else.” Liam stepped closer. “Seems like you could use a little break from them.” She laughed at his dead-on assessment. “How is it that you hardly know me and you see things other people don’t?” In her professional life, everyone had the utmost respect for her father and brother. The dynamic duo of the fitness center world. Never mind the long days and nights and hours that Isla spent making things come together. Things like the deal with Conroy Hotels. Her father’s gyms were going to be a part of ten Conroy properties starting in the new year. Thanks to Isla. Only, no one had thanked her, except Jonathan Conroy, who she’d struck the deal with. He’d been gracious and kind. A great negotiator. He’d treated her as an equal. “Maybe it’s because I’m looking so close,” he said, his voice lowering. Had she moved? Did he? She wasn’t sure, but the front of each of their bodies was touching, and despite the chill in the air, Isla’s skin warmed beneath her layers. “Hmm. You are looking quite close,” she said, not intending for her voice to come out so husky. Liam ran his thumb over her cheek, then back, down over her lower lip. Her knees went loose and she pressed her hand to his chest. It was hard and solid like the brick wall at her back. But so much hotter. With his jacket open, she pressed her hand to his soft shirt and felt the sleek muscle beneath. “I like what I see,” he said, his face coming closer. “Me too,” she whispered. A little too much. Could she blame her overtaxed emotions? Probably not. There was something about Liam. The first touch of his lips pushed thoughts of anything other than him, of getting closer, out of her brain. One of his hands threaded through her hair, anchoring her where he wanted so he could slant his mouth over hers, teasing and testing, before diving all the way in. Isla’s fingers fisted in his shirt, curling the material in her palm as she arched to get closer, to take more. Liam gentled the kiss, slowing it down before he leaned back, enough so he could speak but so they were still sharing the same air, their breath mingling and intertwining sort of like their bodies. “Wow,” he whispered, pressing his brow to hers. “Yeah. Wow.” Two or three days of doing exactly that didn’t seem like nearly enough. Liam’s hands ran down her arms, back up, over her shoulders, and then he pulled her close and wrapped his around her, hugging her tight and pressing a kiss to the top of her head. Isla sank in. If she could only have a couple days with him, she was going to enjoy every second of it. Which meant blocking out all of the questions and the uncertainty. When he pulled back, Liam’s eyes were a mix of desire and sweetness. “You like Johnny Cash?” Isla laughed at the quick change of subject. “The Man in Black? Sure.” “I was hoping you’d say that,” he said, taking her hand again. “Come on.”

BAM! And the intensity got even more strained, the fifteen-year-old murder mystery haunting the law enforcement and the small town folks of the Callahan County. I am loving this binge-reading mini-series by Ms. Myers. I think the fact that the books are released so close together brings the energy even higher in the stories.
Zane North is a by the book law enforcement man. He gained his experience in the military, now running a tight team of the police force. He is dedicated, service minded, and smart. He is understanding, kindhearted, yet tough protector when needed. Ashley has her reasons why she doesn't trust easily, and not at all when it comes to the police. Ashley and her brother Dylan had suffered more than enough after the murder fifteen years ago. This new hype about the case just brought bad and sad memories to her mind. But the Sheriff is investigating and so tempting to Ashley. Ashley and Zane have obvious chemistry and connection. With the crazy, dangerous threating letters showing up all over the town they don't have many chances to act on the attraction, but there is no denying it, it is a palpable force in the air. The romance is clean and sweet in this tale, even though there is no doubt of the ardent emotions developing between Zane and Ashley. The suspense is deadly dangerous, it is personal, and it seems to be connected to the old crimes. It has plot twists that shake the foundation of the characters lives, changing their future, their destinies forever. I was glued to my kindle while reading this tale, founding it unputdownable, wanting to learn more as the story progress. It is a vigorous, potent, and compelling tale of crimes of the worst kind, and I am completely invested in finding out the solution to the cold case of the Carson Meadows Trail murder. While the books are definitely connected, they can still be read as stand-alone books if so desired. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

It was easy to fall in love with a Larsson—seriously who could resist any one of those boys? And while each them had taken turns featuring as Maya’s adolescent crush, there was only one of them who had been her best friend.
Alex Larsson. She’d loved him the most, convinced they’d be friends forever. Which might have happened if Maya’s father hadn’t been a shady criminal with a mistress on the side. Banished from L.A. meant leaving her old life behind, forgetting those perfect Larsson boys and her best friend. And forget about all of them she did. Well, up until her fancy law degree landed her an awesome job back in the city she’d once called home. And boy was she glad to be home. Oh, and her old BFF? Not only had Alex Larsson gotten a fancy law degree of his own, but he’d turned into the hottest man she’d ever seen. And what she wanted now couldn’t be further from friendship if she tried. Did she risk tainting the memory of the purest, most amazing relationship of her life for the “possibility” of more? Yeah, some things are worth the risk. And Alex Larsson, was one of them. Oh. My. God. I wasn’t sure what opened wider, his front door or my mouth. If that was Alex Larsson, then the years had been good to him. Jesus. He had always been tall, sporty, and blond, with a pair of blue eyes that could make the Mediterranean Sea jealous. But somewhere between then and now he had taken a right turn at cute and drove straight into hot. Six-foot-OH-MY-GOD-how-tall-is-he? My eyes roamed from his toes to his head like they were inspecting a Picasso at Christie’s. And Lord, that body—all of it toned and delicious—I almost felt the need to genuflect as I stood there in front of it. His face didn’t help either, a perfect blend of story-book-prince and every-hot-guy-ever. His perfectly mussed blond hair and seawater-blue eyes double barrel assaulted me. He’d gotten hotter than any Larsson—or man for that matter—I’d ever seen. Even his stubble was hot, the smattering shadow across his flawless jaw taunting me to touch it. There was nothing “old childhood best friend” about him. He was a work of art; my hands wanting to run over him like a piece of modeling clay and get dirty. “Maya?” He smirked, looking me up and down as he stood barricading the door. Lord, he had muscles. He would have made an amazing firefighter. “Are you Maya Zaveri?” I swallowed, my throat feeling like sandpaper as I found my voice. “That depends. Are you trying to serve me?” He chuckled, his sea blue eyes twinkling with mischief. “Exactly how many outstanding warrants do you have, possible Maya?” “None in the state of California, but I only moved back yesterday.” Oh. My. God. Was I flirting with Alex Larsson? Before I had a chance to give my conscience a good shake and banish any sexual thoughts to friend-zone, he pulled me into a hug. So instead of just thinking inappropriate things about his body, I was touching it with mine, and gathering evidence that proved Alex worked out a lot. Gone was the soft boyish body I’d seen a million times, and in its place was a work of art with the hard curves of a man. I swear to God, if there was ever a way to get pregnant fully clothed, it was wrapped around me creating an embryo. Sure made me grateful I’d taken my birth control before leaving my apartment.
